BUY THE ALBUM VIA TUNECORE, ITUNES, 7 DIGITAL AND AMAZON.
Monday, September 14, 2009
II did actually cry and give people sea shells at Bestival. I can't really justify such deranged behaviour but actually it was out of sorts. Hard to believe but true. I am not normally like that. I drank a lot and sat in the sun too long by the tent and got sunburnt which is odd because I never burn. Then I suddenly felt a wave of self loathing halfway through my set and I had a mood flip. Anyway. I'm 3 tracks into my next album and am holing myself up recording today. I am taking breaks to drink iced tea and and take copious amounts of neurofen. Wisdom teeth. I am hatching a plan of how to steal Matthew Dear's brain but I don't think I can. I've prayed to all the gods, Sony, Apple, Bose, Sennheiser...all of them...but all they said was that they were processing my request.

If you want me to play a gig, get in touch. I need to promote this damned record but have no booking agent.

Thank you people who stuck with it and bought albums, by the way.

Umm.

OH YEAH.

It was bought to my attention that the record got quite a decent review on Drowned In Sound the other day but sadly it got removed from the site. I managed to find a cached version and seemings that I quite like the controversy of being censored, thought I ought to share best quotes (I'm doing this like those quotes that are taken grossly out of context on the back of books...mainly autobiographies. "George Pringle - My Period" is being ghost written by Andrew Mortimer, by the way). By the way, my blog is doing the stupid thing where I can't see what I am typing again, so it will probably be...well, you are probably reading a mess but life is too short:

Pieces of Review:

"But in any case, Salon des Refusés is here now, and while at times you are faced with what amounts to a debutante saying clever things over a laptop, to dismiss it as such would do little justice to the neon-streaked claustrophobia of a profoundly atmospheric record."

"The thing to remember is that Pringle is a musician, and a good one at that; not technically adept, but a deft textural manipulator of GarageBand and her own limited vocal gifts. "

"It all reaches musical and thematic climax over ‘Bonjour Tristesse’s ten churning minutes. The song commences with a muffled Pringle delicately singing the mantra ”my heart was meant to dance” over a nauseating, grimy bed, a bed that echoes and intensifies as the singer begins to unravel, declaring in less steady tones ”I’ve got no friends, I dance alone”. Around the halfway point words drop out entirely, leaving the song to mutate into an eerie cousin to New Order’s ‘In A Lonely Place'. Symphonic, sad and unhinged, it’s the apex of an album that steadily ratchets up the atmosphere, squeezing and constricting"

So, if I have managed to HTML this right, you woulda read that. So, on that note. I'm off to be sad and unhinged because it's what I do best.

Hoo Ha.

Hullo chapettes and chaps,

The album is currently number 69 in the Amazon Mp3 albums chart and number 8 in the Itunes Electronic album charts.  Above Pendulum and Imogen Heap!  It doesn't matter how long this lasts and how fleeting but I'd like all DIY carousers to raise a glass and see it as a minor triumph for all the underdogs out there.  I'm feeling awfully subversive today.

Also, here are some more reviews for the record.  These ones are online blog ones:

http://4ortherecord.com/George-Pringle-Salon-De-Refuses.html

I'm talking with rough trade about getting the record in physical form in their stores.  I think we're starting with a limited 25 and we'll see where it goes from there but will let you know anon when said plan hatches.  Probably in about a month.

I'm posting the full lyrics for the album on here soon.  Just need to scan them all in!

See you at Bestival.  I don't think I can play Bonjour Tristesse because it's too long...unless I bring a bottle of Cava and some back issues of Vanity Fair for the audience to while away the six minutes of minimal techno and nothing-ness.  The idea is growing on me, be warned.

Also...Thanks to everyone who has been downloading the album.  Please tell all your freinds and spread the love.  The more I sell, the more chance I will be able to fund a next record.

Beaucoup d'amour.

P.S.S.  I'm getting even more excited with my new material.  Onwards and upwards.

Can't find The Times one.  It was a 4/5 review and said "A superb debut".

The album is out tomorrow and you can judge for yourselves.  You can get it on Itunes, Tunecore, Amazon, 7 Digital et cetera.

Hapy Sunday.

To everyone who made it to The Social on Wednesday night: THANK YOU very much. It was just the most fantastic start the album release could have asked you for and she would have if she weren't so oppressed by all my howlings and witterings. It's a seldom affair when everyone attending a night seem to be having fun and aren't scowling in plaid shirts. Extra special thanks to Young athletes League, Chacha and Surfing/Swimming DJs for making the night a diverse one. I had so much fun, I'm a tad sad today and with a flu type feeling to boot. If you haven't seen it in The Music and Film, The Guardian put me on the playlist this week (Physical Education) which was most kind. I've started writing the next album. I thought this were all something of a passing phase but I have a bug or something. So, I'm saying one word: Eurotrash. It's getting a bit conceptual hereon. But imagine a kid in a provincial Italian disco circa 1992 who has the blues and you might get the jist. Synths and soul and deadpan disco I'm dressing minimalist sailor. Forte Dei Marmi, Portofino etc. I got a dress from a company called St.Tropez. You hear me? Don't forget the album is released on the 7th and you can buy it on Itunes, Amazon. Any shiny digital retailer, really. Also, Note Bene: Stage and time change for Bestival. It's up on this page, Jim Beam tent. You got to get your arses there if you're on site. I'm hoping I won't be covered in shit and mud with my Izro, needing a wee this time. I would say sorry for last year's performance but to be honest, after the amount of pork pies and fruit pastilles I had consumed, shivering up on the camp site with an addled throbbing brain, I really did feel like Marlon Brando in Apocalypse Now, so I lived that for YOU. I'll live the glamour-girl dream this year, promise. I also promise more creative blogs again once this shameless self-promotion ceases. I got me some more scrap books and photos. Beaucoup d'amour. xxxxxxx

Also...There's 48 hours worth of listening to "Pop Hit" from the album up and running on here.

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=105299098780 That's the link for the Facebook group for the event. It should be mega fun but I'm under budget so I'll see what I can pull out my hat. The main point is that it's a party and so it should be...a party which means I'm relying on some of you guys to come along. The main point is that it's a party and so it should be...a party which means I'm relying on some of you guys to come along. I broke the CD burning drive thing on my laptop burning 150 CDs in a row for the press pack so I'm trying to get hold of a laptop to burn CDs on so that people can actually buy the album. In other news, I'm back from my annual sojourn to Italy and brown as a cow and as blue and as fat as a whale. I hate holiday comedowns. I suppose it was made worse by the fact I managed to haggle this beautiful 1950s typewriter down to about fourty pounds in Radio Days in Lower Marsh because I felt I needed cheering up and bartering happens to be in my genes (you should see my granny hit the Souk) and then I went to the cashpoint and found I have about 100 pounds of overdraft left. So not only did my carbon dreams fade away but the Tutu I also managed to barter down in price is still un-bought. It happened to be my size and it would have just hung in my wardrobe but it would have looked amazing there. AND the typewrite worked. Just imagine, some luck... Today I did a shoot with ID magazine. I will probably look fat but at least I have a tan. So with that positive mantra, I'll leave you with a series of photographs that Miss. Cherniakova took of me, some of which (wil leave you to guess) were Physical Education influenced). P.S. I did a lot of Polaroid in Italy and I think some of them came out fab so there will be some photo entries soon. Apparently something's gone a bit awry with the Tunecore Widget on this page.  It's playing up or something.  Well, if you want to download the single, you can get it from Itunes and Amazon so just search my name and it (Physical Education) will come up.  I will receive money from the downloads so it's all kosher.

I don't know how adequately I can fix the problem as I have a fairly slow internet connection out here in Italy.

In the meantime have a look at this interview I did with Dazed Digital.

Much love,
