and also, just for the record, the band name was from the studly Marlon Brando feature-film "The Fugitive Kind", a step up from more classically titled Tennessee Williams play "Orpheus Descending" upon which it was based. but the LSD certainly may have had something to do with it too.

You know, its sucks to say it but band drama is inevitable. 4 people enclosed in tight spaces for long periods of time breeds all sorts of weirdness. We have been lucky to survive for the past 2 years 'drama free' (at least relatively speaking). But people change, times change, sand goes through the hourglass, the time-space metaverse translates laterally through the 5th dimension. you know, whatever platitude applies to change, etc.

With that obtuse preface we are announcing a parting of ways with our good friend, collaborator, general partner in crime, and drummer Matt Johnson. He is re-booting his life in ways that we can't understand, but we wish him well regardless. Matt, if you are reading this (probably a stretch), good luck and thanks for the memories.




But some things don't change.

So after some ado [and some adieu] Fugitive Kind is back on track for the summer. We have some talent in the wings, and some big upcoming stuff to look forward to: a new drummer to announce, a new tour to plan, and a new EP to record for summer.

So, yes: I am a narcissist. I always read Fugitive Kind reviews, and I'll openly admit it. I love it. There is something very interesting in that process of releasing music to the world, a sense of being a part of a greater dialogue, with both audience and critics. Even very negative reviews always provide a perspective that we as progenators of the music cannot ever have: the viceral experience of listening to the songs for the first time, without preconceptions, without months or years of effort, without hearing your own "voice". So I eagerly, even jealously await my feedback, like a blind painter or something. It is sobering / hilarious and rewarding to hear so many contradicting points of view on the same subjects.

Well, I read a review today which definitely set itself apart from the rest with its depth of thought and conext. This is truly construcrive criticism. Note: It is not five star.
