A big thanks to all of you who came out to Art All Night this year and listened to us play!  We had an awful lot of fun, and it was great to see so many people really getting into what we were doing!  Sadly, the recording didn't come out too well...the gain was set too high and EVERYTHING was distorted....sounded sort of like Atari Teenage Riot!  Regardless, we had a great time.  Set list was as follows:
1. Believe
2. The Craftsman
3. Angel
4. Let Go
Thanks again for listening and if you couldn't make it, check out our ep for "the Craftsman" available at CD Baby as well as digitally at the Apple iTunes store and many other digital retailers!

As you may know, we have released our first cd single for the song "The Craftsman".  It's a 43 minute ep, featuring two remixes and two bonus tracks, a preview of our upcoming full length debut!  You can purchase copies online at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/narse, or here in pittsburgh at Paul's Music in Bloomfield, or Eide's Entertainment in the Strip District!  You can also, of course, purchase copies from us at our shows...we're friendly people!
For those of you who prefer to purchase digital music, you can find us online at Apple's iTunes store, Napster, BuyMusic, MP3-Extension and more coming soon!  Please support us so we can afford a wider release for the full length album!

thanks for listening,

Approximately one year ago was the first Narse show.  How far have we come?  Rather far, by my estimation.  The band has doubled in size, and the music is being created on far more machines.  We went from doing everything on an Alesis Micron, to adding a Korg Electribe R for drums, and an Electribe EMX to handle bass and additional rhythm synths.  We've released two self produced eps ("Lying To You", June 2005, "Never Said Goodbye", March 2006), both of which are for all intents and purposes out of print, as that we're in the process of creating more professional sounding recordings of the same songs (compare the recording of "Lying To Myself" on our page to, well, any of the other recordings).  I've progressed worlds as both a musician and a vocalist, though I feel I still have a long way to go.  We've gone from playing the first couple shows at Kiva Han, to opening for Freezepop at Garfield Artworks, as well as doing shows at the Rex and the 31st Street Pub.
So what to expect in the next year?  More shows, of course!  We have two scheduled for July: the 8th at Excuses, with the Gladstone Ruckus and two others, and the 14th at Pittsburgh Cafe with the Gladstone Ruckus, Canadian electronic/metal act Iron Bitchface and one more.  As I mentioned, we'll have some new recordings available soon, as well as our first music video ("Lying To Myself" directed by Scott Lehman).  Hopefully we'll be doing some shows outside of Pittsburgh really soon.  I'm looking into getting a band manager to help with setting up and promoting gigs (if anyone knows someone reliable in Pittsburgh for that sort of thing, let me know).  The first year of Narse was pretty great!  Here's to the second being even better!

So I guess it's time to start a blog for the band, as it were.  In the next couple months/weeks/howeverlongittakes, as we're working on recording and new material, we will be be updating this, as well as finally doing something with the gnarphlager.com site.  Honest.
Anyway, a big thanks to everyone who came out to the Freezepop show last night!  It was a lot of fun, and we appreciate the support!  For the curious, setlist was:
Lying To Myself
Change
Tanith
Shine
Setlists will become more interesting as the band grows, but I'll try to post them here for the curious.
That's all for now.  Hopefully we'll have some new recordings posted soon, and photos from the show!

thanks for listening,
josh
