hey folks,

the 13th month band (me, nick and jason) have been laboring over a new album which should be done shortly. it's called "your wicked man". as things move along I'll post some of the songs. for now I've added "while chasing a rabbit" which is an orphan track from the new sessions. hope you like it!

also check out a video that my buddy marcy saude directed. it's for the song "sister alchemy" which can be found on the s/t 13th month record or as a vinyl single. you can find more about marcys stuff here:

Hey folks,

The cd's for my debut release are finally done!* Its official release date is September 22nd.  You can pre-order it from http://softabuse.com/ right now. Please do!

This is a record I'm particularly happy with. I'd describe its contents as romantic, bitter, hazy, perhaps drunken, with some dark humor hidden behind it all.

In addition to being my best batch of songs it also features some truly talented musicians. First among them is Jason Quever (Papercuts) who produced the record and also played most of the instruments. Check his music out if you haven't already: www.myspace.com/thepapercuts. Also contributing is a really rad, interesting assortment of folks: experimental techno genius Karl Bauer (Axolotl), UK soul diva Jess Roberts, and French violin wizard Helene Renaut. Please check them out as well.

Below I'm posting links to some of the blogs that have been kind enough to write early reviews of the record.

Best Wishes,

Donovan Quinn

* It will be released on vinyl as well but that's being delayed by a few weeks.

hey all,

I've added a couple of new songs from an old/new album called "october lanterns". I recorded it in '02-'03 but I'm just getting around to releasing it. you'll be able to buy it from the excellent label Soft Abuse sometime around october. it'll be released as a limited edition cdr, handmade with nice paper and all the trimmings. check out the SA site at http://www.myspace.com/softabuse or softabuse.com

I recorded "october lanterns" on a horse ranch that I used to live on. at the time I could stay up until 3 or 4 am recording as loud as I wanted. those were the days, etc. the picture on the cover was taking after such a night if I remember correctly. which is why I look like death. it's a home recorded diy affair of the bedroom school, a bit dark, off-key and folky.

so thanks for listening and check back in for more details on releases and tour dates. it's all coming soon.

love,

dq
