The
‘Revue totally rammed The 100 Club last Thursday with a queue stretching all the way down
Oxford Street to Tottenham Court Road tube station. Scores of unlucky punters
were turned away as the venue was stretched beyond capacity. The JJR played an
electrifying set in tropical conditions to a capacity crowd that included Bobby
Gillespie, Beth Orton, Andrew Weatherall (who was also DJing), Jim Scalvunos
from The Bad Seeds, Peter Coyne from The Godfathers and Steve Lamacq. In fact
Steve was so moved, he gave a glowing report of
The JJR performance the next day on his Six Music radio show and
demanded that Jack White offer The JJR a support slot immediately!
Choose
“Listen Again” for Friday’s show and forward to 2 hours, 7 minutes…
The
100 Club show was also the release party for our single, “Princess & The
Frog b/w Freak of Nature” which has also
attracted wide spread radio support from Radio One, Radio Two, Six music and
XFM with spins by Mark Lamarr, Bob Harris, Tom Robinson, Gary Crowley, Gideon
Coe and John Kennedy among many others…...
Last
weekend was a busy few days for The ‘Revue which saw them play dates in
Canterbury (attended by the legendary Clash tour manager Johnny Green!), Brighton
and then on Monday we played our biggest show so far at the La Musicale festival with Placebo at the
historic 2500 capacity L’Olympia in Paris on Monday. La Musicale was organized by France’s leading
cable TV station Canal Plus and will be broadcast across France in early July
featuring an interview and live performances by The ‘Revue.
The
Rock’n’Roll Circus show at Inn On The Green has been put together by Martin
Muscatt from Taurus Trakker. Taurus Trakker will also play live and the show
will launch their new single, “Monks, Punks & Drunks” which is produced by
The Clash’s Mick Jones. Mick also regularly plays live on stage with TT……
The
Inn On The Park show will be The Jim
Jones Revue’s last gig in London before we tour in October so witness the sonic
brutality at The Rock’n’Roll Circus at
The Inn On The Green on Friday 19 June!!!!

The Jim Jones Revue eponymous debut album is released by Punk Rock Blues Records on Monday 8 September 2008. Described as sounding like a car crash between Little Richard and The MC5, The 'Revue play supercharged rock'n'roll inspired by The Killer, The Georgia Peach and of course The Memphis Flash and the deranged sons of Detroit.
The Jim Jones Revue strip rock'n'roll back to its essential elements and this album is a document of their base alchemy. Recorded live (no overdubs!) on four track in one straight 48 hour session the record is a celebration of no holds barred full on rocking.
Among an album of hard rocking delights, key tracks to dip into are "Rock'n'Roll Psychosis" which sounds like a unholy jam between Jerry Lee Lewis and The Birthday Party. The 'Revue then pay homage to The Killer on another key track "Meat Man". JJR piano player Elliot Mortimer adds his psychotic interpretation of boogie woogie to Jim Jones's leery vocal to create a pornographic maelstrom. More carnal bump and grind with "Cement Mixer" the final track of the album. For this The 'Revue step back in speed but increase the power with Mortimer unleashing a hurricane of Hammond keys while Jones intones "Here we go, nice and slow........" A soundtrack for a filthy liaison in a Latin seaport when your boat has already left.......
In a former life Jim Jones was the prime mover in nineties garage punk legends Thee Hypnotics (RIP). Long after Thee Hypnotics had split and his latest project Black Moses had crashed & burned, Jim then hooked up with four London hoodlums and together they became The Jim Jones Revue and set about stripping rock'n'roll right back down to the bone .
The Jim Jones Revue made their debut at The Gypsy Hotel in Dalston, East London in January 2007. This inaugural show was a barn storming sold out success and they then trail blazed across the capital and the UK leaving a scene of rock'n'roll devastation in their wake. In the last eighteen months The JJR have shared stages with Heavy Trash, Guitar Wolf, Gallon Drunk, Scott Biram, The Black Diamond Heavies, The Beasts of Bourbon, The Godfathers, Dave Cloud and Wilko Johnson and played the 2007 Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg.
The Jim Jones Revue debut album is a raw, unrefined, rude and lewd beast. Embrace it with both arms now!
