AIDY QUINN LAUNCHES NEW CAREER.
The latest name to emerge on the country music scene in Ireland may not be as unfamiliar as you imagine. When we mention Aidy Quinn that name certainly is new, however when we mention Aidy Quinn son of the 'Queen of Country Music' Philomena Begley that's a different matter.
Aidy hails from Galbally in Co. Tyrone and has been reared on country music since he was born. He is son of Philomena Begley and Tom Quinn, who were both members of the great Old Cross Bandshow and Rambling Men from where Philomena went on to greater heights in music throughout the world.
Along with his band Aidy has just returned from a very successful trip to Scotland wher he appeared in Laurencekirk on Friday, Keith Agricultural Hall on Saturday and Inverness on Sunday and also another another successful weekend when he appeared to 3,500 people in Didsbury Irish Festival and also in St. Kentergan's Club, Manchester. Aidy is looking forward to returning to both areas as soon as time permits.
Presently another project for Aidy is promoting his new single entitled Waltzing Margarita Round The Room that is getting extensive airplay on local and national radio. It is an up tempo number and was recorded at Cuan Music Studios, Portaferry, Co. Down with the assistance of owner/produce Stephen Smyth. When Stephen got the call from Aidy he immediately gathered together some of the country's most talented musicians and set to work on material. Aidy is going back in to studio in the coming week to commence recording his new album. We expect another promotional single from that session in four weeks.
Already Aidy has a 14-track album to his credit, having recorded it a year ago to help gain a little profile locally before he would set out on the circuit to front his new band. The album, very aptly titled 'Born and Bred on Country Music' received very good reviews from presenters and producers on local radio.
The word is now out about Irelands newest singing sensation and the future looks bright for Tyrone's Aidy Quinn. His enthusiasm to front his own band was built by listening to Merle Haggard, George Jones, Porter Wagoner, Waylon Jennings and Brad Paisley along with Irish artists including Mick Flavin and of course his mum Philomena Begley.
Aidy Quinn's six piece band includes Kevin Hurson on lead guitar, Emmett Kane on bass, while on Keyboards and Fiddle we have Plunkett McGartland, 'Wishy' Quinn plays steel and rhythm guitar and to complete the line-up we've got Chris Napier on Drums. Most of the members will themselves also double on vocals to compliment Aidan's lively programme with some rock 'n roll and a sprinkling of middle of road and party music.
Purple Heather Promotions, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh who now handles Aidy's affairs are planning to release a series of singles to help profile this new talent. A new album will also be released in a few months that will hopefully set
Aidy Quinn on the bigger music circuit throughout Ireland, The UK and further afield.
