Hello there. You will already know this if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, but I recently did a remix for a friend of mine. The new Atlum Schema single "Gunfight At The OK Corral" is out now and features my remix as one of the b-sides. I'm very pleased with it and I hope you like it too.

Have a listen at http://atlumschema.bandcamp.com/ or on iTunes - if you get it at Bandcamp then you can pay what you want for it. You can't say fairer than that!

See you soon,

Love from Mr America xx

Wow. I haven't written anything here since March! It's been a busy year, mainly in a non-Camp America way, but I'm back in the game and working on some remixes that I'm excited about, followed by some new original material coming very soon.

The first remix to be available is my reworking of Athlete's Superhuman Touch - they release their new album Black Swan today, and my remix is part of the deluxe iTunes version of the album. You can find it HERE

I will try to update this page more often, but there's always something more important and time-consuming to do. I do update my Twitter fairly regularly though, so if you're not already following me on there, have a look at www.twitter.com/camp_america

Howdy. This is just a quick message to let you know that Bearded magazine has a little piece on me this month. Bearded is a new magazine dedicated to good independent music - I bought last month's issue and it's well worth a read. Here's the blurb:

=====================
The new issue of Bearded is coming out on Thursday 26 March. Featuring an exclusive cover designed by Jeffrey Lewis, you can pick up your copy from over 1,500 stores across the UK, including WHSmith, Borders, independent record stores and newsagents. You can also pre-order a copy from the Bearded website: http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http://beardedmagazine.co.uk%2Fwp%2F%3Fpage_id%3D603.

This issue includes more features than any other issue of Bearded before, with interviews with Jeffrey Lewis, Bill Callahan (of Smog fame), Ratface, Le Reno Amps, Hanne Hukkelberg, Vessels, Voodoo Trombone Quartet, The Long Lost and Wildbirds and Peacedrums, a feature on FatCat Records, on Birmingham’s Home of Metal and a special article written by Paul Hawkins (from Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences) on tackling reviewers.

In addition to all that, we have live reviews of David Grubbs, Serafina Steer, Crystal Antlers, Bearded’s relaunch party (featuring Allez Allez, Ratface, Beestung Lips and Ice, Sea, Dead People), Woodpigeon, Minotaurs, The Miserable Rich and the Ssh! Festival of Quiet Music. We have smaller articles on Camp America, Honor Society, Hatcham Social, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Still Flyin’ and Micachu & the Shapes as well as all the usual record reviews of releases either side of the release date.

We also have an extra special competition with an unprecedented prize, one that we can guarantee no other magazine would offer. Something to get excited about no doubt!

Ok, so I just created a Twitter account, and as far as I can tell it's just another way for me to waste my time by telling the world what I'm doing. And if I spend all my time telling the world what I'm doing, then I'll never actually do anything.

So... if you are someone who understands the importance of Twitter, and would like to "follow" me on it (although I'm not really up for being stalked, so don't expect any incredible personal revelations or precise co-ordinates of my whereabouts), go to www.twitter.com/camp_america and I promise you at least occasional updates.

Thank you for your time.

One Month Off sleeve

From today (Jan 26th) the new Bloc Party single "One Month Off" is available from iTunes, featuring a Camp America remix as one of the b-sides. You can get it by following the following link:

http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?id=302663149&s=143444

This was a really fun remix to do, but quite a challenge too, as the original version has a lot of cool cut-up vocals and effects, and pretty much sounds like a remix already. I'm pleased with the result though - hope you like it.

By the way, I'm sorry this MySpace page has been so flaky lately. The server that hosts the custom content is apparently not very reliable. So it's back to old-skool MySpace until the problems can be rectified.

If you've been paying attention during the last few weeks, you will have seen that some of my past remixes have been put up for free download on www.RCRDLBL.com. Well, as a little Christmas present, I have packaged those remixes together with artwork, and put them on www.campamericamusic.com as a free download. That's 8 tracks, totally free! You can't say fairer than that.

So if you fancy tapping your toes along to some classic Camp remixes, make your way to www.campamericamusic.com and get downloading!

Merry Christmas,

Wahey, I have another gig booked! Reading band The Race have very kindly asked me to support them at a night they're curating on Saturday 10th January at South Street Arts Centre in Reading.

Tickets are available for a fiver in advance from http://www.readingarts.com/southstreet/whatson/event.asp?id=SX85E9-A7817804

Also playing will be The Race (obviously), Misty's Big Adventure and SKG, with DJ sets from Shifty DJs, Johnny (Pete and the Pirates) and Matt Greener. Should be a good night, so make sure you get tickets before they sell out!

The nice people at www.RCRDLBL.com, aided by the nice people at Paper Bag Records, have put some more of my remixes up for you to download. They've also collected them all together and put them into a handy little music player widget thing, but annoyingly I can't get it to work within this blog. Blimmin' MySpace.

To get the widget, go to http://rcrdlbl.com/2008/12/18/exclusive_new_download_camp_america_stoney_caves_oversol_and_medallist_remixes

And you can download all the remixes from http://www.rcrdlbl.com/search/camp+america

Happy dancin'!

Hello everyone!

There is a cool music blog/label site called www.RCRDLBL.com who feature downloads and streams from various artists who they like. And guess what? Today they put up a download of my remix of Teenage Hit Wonder by You Say Party! We Say Die! Here's what they said about the remix:

"The testy vocal and central guitar riff remain intact, but dude's added some propulsive beats and Laffy Taffy synths on top so that when the chorus of "Be my friend yah yah" goes over and over again you kind of wish you were playing video games with Andrew W.K. Can you imagine how sweaty and awesome that would be?"

Pretty cool hey? I would TOTALLY love to play video games with Andrew W.K. I think he might not be very good at video games though, as he'd probably spend most of the time punching the air.

You can listen to the remix and download it by visiting the main site and scrolling down a bit, or if you're reading this in the future when it's disappeared from the front page then go straight to http://rcrdlbl.com/2008/12/04/exclusive_new_download_camp_america_any_kind_of_pulse_you_say_party_we_say_die_remix

Next week the site will be featuring some more of my remixes, so keep checking back. Incidentally, while you're there, you should probably subscribe to their daily newsletter which features a new MP3 every day. That's free music, kids! Whoop!
