For those of you that have read my most recent blog, I recently had a show in Lancaster, PA. Here's a recap as to how it went;

....................

I went for the set up on Wednesday night, and just wanted
to get a feel for the space so I wasn't going into the show completely blind. I
met the vendors that were next to me and started to feel like this was a great
idea. I have seemed to be a little blocked with ideas over the last year, and it
was a little nerve wracking to get back into the swing of things.

I had worked really hard on some new things... new designs,
added bags, etc... and I wanted everything to go well.

The morning of, I got up and all the stress was gone. I was
just calm about everything, which is very rare for me. The other vendors trickled in just before ..10 am.., and I was pretty well set and ready to go, but
made minor changes over the entire show. Guests started showing up and getting
to know me and my company. It was exciting.

I ended the day not only selling items that I had
to sell
right there, but had customers place custom orders. One of the
customers to
place a custom order was one of the vendors friends that was next to
our table.
She is pregnant, but loved a couple of the designs and wants them as
maternity
wear. I am really looking forward to
doing this for her. You never know what kind of customer is going to
see
something and say, "I want that!"Also, what came of this, was a diaper
bag line that looks like purse. I am working on a name for the line and
working on the bags themselves. If anyone is interested in any of this,
please let me know. I can get you some pricing. I will have items
updated on the website in the next month. If you want to be one of the
first to own, let me know.

I want to thank all of you for all of your support. I will
keep all of you posted to the changes that I am making to my website over the
next month. I am looking very forward to this week, this month, and this year.

Here is an update on the next show for Manner of Design:

.. ..

Fashionably Lounging....

.. ..

K.I.D.S. is an amazing charity we are proud to fundraise for. Their six key areas they target to help are: disaster relief, homelessness, domestic abuse, literacy, children of incarcerated parents and military families. Their efforts combined have brought $62 million in products to needy children and families. They have had speakers and supporters such as Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Leslie Stahl, a co-anchor from 60 Minutes. They have been able to reach almost five million of nearly thirteen million children who live in poverty in the ....United States.....

Sponsors for "Fashionably Lounging" Fashion Fundraiser for K.I.D.S. (Helping Kids in Distressed Situations)

This is a fundraiser to benefit K.I.D.S., helping kids in distressed situations. At the door, we are giving everybody a program, which will be like a high quality magazine with color, glossy pages. This will give a credit to all the participants, including the models, hair stylists, make-up artists, designers, photographers, crew, sponsors and everybody else who helped make this event possible.

The event will be on ..July 19, 2008... There will be a silent auction before the fashion show, to help raise more money for K.I.D.S. open at ..8:00 pm... The fashion show will start at ..9:00 pm... This event will be at the recently opened Prospect Lounge, in ....La Jolla.., ..CA.....

Featured Sponsors

We are advertising in local newspapers like the Reader, 944 Magazine and radio advertisements. We are also hiring marketers and promoters to help promote this event. We are having lots of flyers printed and many businesses and people are going to help distribute them.

For a Featured Sponsor, who gives a sponsorship of $500 or more gets their business logo on all the print ads, including flyers (if sponsored in time before the printing), and a special thank you before the fashion show.
On the day of the event, KUSI Morning News will be interviewing us to promote the show. We would mention any VIP Sponsor's names and thank them for making everything possible.

The featured sponsors will get two complementary tickets to see the fashion show and will publically be thanked whether they are able to attend or not. They will still receive a special thanks announced at the event. This package also includes a full page advertisement in our program.

VIP Sponsors

VIP Sponsors are sponsors donating $1,500 or more. The VIP Sponsors will get 10 tickets to the fashion show and a two page ad in the program. They will be on the flyers, mentioned on all the ads both on the radio and any print ads we have advertising this event. Any VIP Sponsors will not only have a special recognition at the event, but will be presented a special thank you award. We will take a picture of the award presentation if able to attend, or use any picture you would like to put on our website along with your company information and keep it there as a thank you and advertisement.

The VIP Sponsors will also receive a DVD video of the event, a cd of all the pictures professionally taken at the event by our photographer along with a thank you note telling all the statistics from our show and exactly what their sponsorship helped achieve.

We appreciate all the support from all of the sponsors, with a special thanks to the VIP Sponsors. Any additional ideas VIP Sponsors have to further promote their company during this event are encouraged to be discussed.

The doors then opened at the Fabulous! Event in Springfield, MA, and people came pouring down the stairs. I don't know the final count, but there were over 400 people at the event throughout the night. I received great feedback from everyone that stopped by to check out my shirts. There were a few customers that I really got some time to talk to one-on-one. They asked a lot of questions; How did I get the names? Come up with the designs? How long had I been at it? But then there were some that were shocked to learn that I had a part in the whole process. There were a couple women that really impressed with how creative I am in so many different art forms. They were impressed with me being so young, having a dream and really taking a chance to pursue it, and putting my whole heart into it.
Just over halfway through the event was the runway show. The video is posted on my personal myspace, my company myspace (myspace.com/mannerofdesign), and on youtube (called Fabulous! Event posted by MannerofDesign). The show opened with a little girl coming out and looking cute, but then she busted out in some hip hop moves while the models walked across the stage behind her. Then, signally the models walked out with designers and boutiques clothing. My models were 3 of the first 4 that walked out. They did an amazing job and all I asked them to do what have fun! They did that. It was surreal watching my designs walk the runway and seeing reactions to them.
After the runway show, there were a couple of opportunities that were presented to me. Allison Reilly (allisoncoreyfineart.com) owns an art gallery in Great Neck, NY and is looking to open one in East Hampton. She said that if she does open one in East Hampton, she would love to sell my shirts in her boutique. She also gave me some great advice that I will definitely take to heart.
All together, the experience was great, the networking was amazing, and I survived my first event. I did what I expected to do, have fun with it. I will be looking into some other opportunities over the next few months, and we'll see what happens.
I have already been presented with another opportunity, and if I decide to do it, I'll let you all know!

I have recently started my own company, "Manner of Design", or MoD. I currently have six t-shirt designs, three for men and three for women. They are all hand-crafted, reconstructed t-shirts with graphic art influences. My desire is to find some boutiques that could feature items from my line. If this is something you would consider, I would like to discuss the details with you. Please contact me at missmanners@mannerofdesign.com.

Thank you,

You have probably heard the idea of "six degrees of seperation," right? It's where someone knows someone, who knows someone, and so on. This concept works for those that are trying to make connections/networking and trying to get their name/company out there. I am asking you to be one of my degrees. I have recently started a company online at mannerofdesign. com. I went to school for graphic design, but my heart has always been in fashion. I incorporate my knowledge of graphic design into my reconstructed t-shirts. I have hand-made and hand-painted all that you see on the shirts. You can take a look at all of them at mannerofdesign.com, read the idea behind all of the, read my bio and contact me, along with ordering the shirts. If you know someone that might like my designs, please, pass my website and my myspace along. It is greatly appreciated.

Check out the shirts on mannerofdesign.com and add me as a friend on myspace.

If you are part of a band or a solo artist, and you like the shirts "Chord" or "Timeless" and would like to order them with one of your songs lyrics on the shirt, order it, and then e-mail me. I would love to do that for you. It was definitely be completely personalized and couture for you.

Thanks so much,

Sara Manners
