September 26, 2009 - Saturday
I don't know what to say about this night- it was very very special
for me. Every once in a while all the elements come together in
perfect synergy- I will cherish these memories- The odd
performance when something magical happens. this was one of those
nights, due in part to the ensemble of DJs, but equally due to the crowd
and venue.

The Line up consisted of ED, Fred, Anton, QU, myself, and
Nina Kraviz. Everyone was at the top of their game, and we played
to a crowd of mostly colleagues and other people in the industry.
In the crowd was Tama Sumo and Prosumer, Michael from Hardwax,
TomTom Grooves, Ben Brunn, some RA writers, several people I
can't think of... to think that all these people cam out to see us, the
energy was clearly that of music lovers and people with much warmth
and integrity. The venue has a life-sized sculpture
of an oak tree in the center of the dance floor, It's perfect.
Nights like this give gives me motivation to continue, to keep working
harder and striving to get better at my craft and also at writing and making music.

We stayed in a very nice flat in Berlin, and when I arrived I went
immidiately to sleep. When I woke up we went for a BBQ at the
Tape club, where the whole staff and some friends showed up.
Marc Schnieder, Jan Kruger, Todd Burns, many others came for the
feast before the gig, and it was a really nice, quaint family vibe which I
certainly preferred to being taken for dinner enjoyed tremendously.

All in all one of the best nights of my entire career.

this gig was great, these kids, there whole crew is the shit. A guy named Stef picked me up at the airport, he took me around Amsterdam some before the gig. funniest was when he taught me how to spot American tourists, because the all wear the same boring fucking white trainer sneakers. Then he points out a nuclear family all wearing Reeboks. This was funny to me.
We ate SERIOUS Tapas at a local Spanish restaurant. Serge from Clone came by with a care package of records and a cool Sweatshirt which i am wearing as I write this. Classy guy, that one.
I didnt get to hear too much of Casper in the back room, because I was playing in the front and listening to Thomas too, but they both completely destroyed the place. I really enjoyed what i heard of Casper and I also had a lot of fun with Thomas. Also, San proper was great and I heard a demo he played of an upcoming dekmantel release which was very, very cool, kind of like a new art of noise record maybe. It was great. No wonder guys like Juju and Jordash are working with this crew, cool kids, great vibe.

addendum- the best line of the night was spoken by me for once: "Good night beautiful purple woman." hahaha

3 hour drive with the windows down, blasted my ears out. UGH. But we got there, and when I saw the botanical gardens I couldn't believe my eyes. By far the most beautiful setting for a gig, it was downright retarded. I had some issues with sound, but didn't care, I started drinking whiskey and just having fun, and it worked, not being so serious- the crowd has a great time and everyone responded well. I even was scratchin and shiz later- thats how you can tell when I have had enough to drink. Good times YO!

I had the best hosts, Between R23 and Anke, then Meeting Michael, Marta and Rafael, just some really classy people with much grace and warm intelligence as well.

Ate some BADASS Moroccan food.

I met a couple of pretty birds named Fillip and Stephanie, highscool sweets who finally got married after 12 years at the age of 28. It kinda makes you believe in love.

Incidentally, I met a DOPE girl!  She makes music which is very smart and I have been talking to her on facebook et all, trying to win her heart. She writes me "coucous levon" all the time, I dont know what that means but i love it. I love french girls. French girls. I lost my sense, I lost control, i lost my mind.

Robert Johnson Club. Very nice sound, crazy lighting on the squares, like some kind a "simon says" or some shiz. Set was good, Paul Rollman AKA Even Tuell shined the brightest that night, Killer closing set! I stayed at his village in ??? on the countryside and there was church bells that went off every 15 minutes or so, right outside the window. he has the dopest drum machine I have seen in a long time, Vermona replica of TR 808.  I met some cool kids at the gig, it was nice that the terrace outside had no sound, so you could actually go out and talk to peeps. The sun cam up it was beautiful, right over the water.

Me Anthony and Marcel Killed it! My first time to berlin. I love the mattresses everyone uses there- Tempurpedic! I slept like a drunk baby.  We went to Hardwax and I tagged the wall in the stairwell. I got to go to dinner before the gig and waiting for us at the restaraunt were Ben Klock, Tama Sumo, Marcel D and Marcel F, and their boys/girls too. It was very nice to meet these people in person and we had a terrific Italian meal. Then we went over to the gig where we played until 11am. The best part of the evening (besides the set) was when Anthony said "hey marcel, where is the master volume on this mixer, can I turn it up? And then HE TRIPLED the volume in the club and the party went in to ultra-high gear. It was hilarious! I hung out with a hottie named Anke and ate a HUGE Brunch the next day. SUCCESS!

Me and Fred P Killed it! A very nice set. I met Shuana for the first time in person and she was very cool. I got to go and eat with Qu Ed FRed and Manuel who works with Ed upstate. We ate Thai food but then also stopped by my old house in Bed Stuy at the Kennedy FC and got some pizza and chicken on the way to the party. A wonderful homecoming for me! I was very homesick and it was nice to see my friends and family. I stayed a week and hung with Eric and had a nice reuinion with a hottie named Sarah. SUCCESS!
