got a few pieces of exciting news.

my new album for kranky, 'mutually arising' is done and all ready to go. should be a summer-ish 2009 release date for that.

i just finished a new album with my friend from brattleboro VT, chris weisman. it is a bunch of weird electro-acoustic songs and its called 'northern songs'. we have a myspace page for our project here
we are looking for a label to put it out, so if you have any ideas, let me know.

in sun circle news, we reissued our debut cdr on LP in december. thats currently making its way out into the world. we will be releasing a new double LP 'lessness' on arbor records later this summer. we are also looking to do a west coast tour in september, so get in touch if youd like us to play in your town. find more info on our myspace page

ive been having trouble trying to post new gigs to my myspace but wanted to tell you about a great show im playing (and helped curate) at the knitting factory old office on new years eve.

im hitting the road with my buddy zach wallace, as Sun Circle in december.
we will be touring the east coast / mid-west / canada areas. if you are interested in helping us set up a show in those areas, get in touch with me. we are also looking to set up a tour on the west coast / northwest / southwest for january / february. get in touch if you are out there too and want to help out.

i decided to change up the tracks on my myspace page. the old ones were getting a bit stale.
i chose 4 more recent tracks of mine that give you all a better idea of what im up to these days.
all of the tracks are for various compilations and things.

'hand held tamarack' is an exclusive track i put together for the Brainwashed 10th anniversary 3xCD compilation which was mostly only available at the Brainwaves festival that i performed at back in november.

'mind mirror' is a recent drone track i made using turkish spike fiddle, overdubbing lots of layers. its only acoustic drone, no electronics on this one. the track is for a forthcoming compilation put together by the folks at the great blog called 'Grown So Ugly'. rumor has it that time-lag records of portland, maine will be releasing it at some point. itll have lots of great acoustic string music by lots of great folks.

'sleep architecture' is my offering for the next Imaginational Anthem 3 compilation on Tompkins Square Records. its one of my rare mostly solo guitar pieces segueing into my more recent cloudy drone ethno psych haze kind of stuff.

'overtone edit' is a remix i finished recently for chris schlarb's 'i heart lung' project. the track is made from a bass clarinet and regular clarinet part that chris sent me. the track also has a noisy percussion / field recording beginning that i chopped off to shorten the track here. as i was working on the drone sections, phill niblock and eliane radigue came to mind. 2 of my biggest inspirations in drone music.

i hope you enjoy the new sounds. and i hope to have some tracks from my new album up here before too long.

im trying out the snocap direct download service.
basically its a company that hosts files for you and you can sell digital downloads through their service. i dont have to go through itunes or emusic or any other myriad services.
this way the money from the paid download goes mostly to me the artist.
ive put up 2 tracks of mine that are only available on the autumn records split 7" that i did with don mennerich several years ago. the mp3s are 256kbps high quality.
