Despite the mixed weather the festival once again proved to be a real sucess. the people of Rodley really have got somewhere special to go to now over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Thanks to everyone involved - the bands, the caterers, the bar staff , the very many helpers in all the other areas and , of course , a big thank you to Gina, Steve, Scott and the family for organizing the whole thing!

GANGSTERS AND MOLLS NIGHT! A brilliant night. Nearly everyone in the pub had made a real effort with the fancy dress. Dr Brown and the Groovecats turned out to be a great chioce for the occasion. I didn't recognise any of the material they covered but it didn't matter at all. A really sound blend  of bluesy/jazzy numbers  with a really mean harmonica wailing away.

The night ended with everyone from the Owl and the Barge meeting up in the middle of the road for the traditional New Year's rendering. Great fun! Great communitiy spirit! Dreadful singing - but it did stop the traffic (something we have not managed to do since the Festival in the summer)

A big thank you to Gina and the family for yet another great occasion.

Unfortunately Mik Artistik was unable to play due to family illness, but the Vetz stood in at very short notice.

It was their first time at the Owl and I bet it's not their last. They brilliantly executed a range of mostly original material and descibe themselves as a blend of Frank Zappa, Ian Drury and the Kinks.

With swagger and panache Keith and the band showed enthusiasm, passion and exitement only enjoyed in a live show. Definitely a band not to be missed.

Unfortunately Angelo Palladino was unable to do tonight's gig but Gina pulled off a real classic in getting the fabulous Swamp Dogs at such short notice.

As usual they were awsome.  Two sets covering The Stones, Paul Weller, Dylan, The Kinks, Animals, Elvis, ZZ Top etc.  topped off with Whiskey in the Jar, some good ol' rock 'n' roll and and a heavyrock version blues number left everyone happy and worn out. Never seen so many old headbangers in my life. Our music lives on!

Well done lads. Long live the Bikers.

What a fantastic weekend. I'm sure that the thousands of people who visited the festival over the weekend enjoyed themselves as much as they seemed to be doing. The music at both The Owl and The Barge went down really well and could be heard right across the valley in Horsforth. Speaking from experience, the beer went down equally well. One or two hitches, but everyone mucked in like troupers and I don't think the public noticed at all.

Thanks to all the bands who were great.

Thanks to all the volunteers without whom it wouldn't have worked.

Thanks to the hundreds and hundreds of people who turned up and made it a very special weekend.

And last, but not least, thanks to Gina and ALL the family for all the hard work they put in to make this a festival to remember.

Ramone couldn't make it so Kwame was back with Jeff!

After a short while of doing " other things" Kwame D are back on the curcuit. And with a vengence!

As usual the two of them put on a brilliant show and generated a real party atmosphere , ending the night with an acoustic session during which the audience were invited to help (?) with the percussion. I bet Jeff really needed that. A great night as usual.

The night started off well with Sharon and Mo producing some very popular favorites. Then Sharon decided to wind things up a bit. She called on Alistair to add some percussion for a while. She called Roger up to add harmonica to her version of Get Off My Cloud and then handed out various percussion instruments to members of the audience. We had a party!

As the night drew on , first Tracy, and then Sharon ended up dancing on the furniture. A sight not to be missed! What a brilliant night!

Come back soon you two

These guys deliver exactly what it says on the tin - Blues with a soft edge. A brilliant night of blues performed by one of the most proficient bands in the gendre in the North  of England. The wailing harp of Pete Smith brought tears to my eyes.

With more harmony than a hairspray factory, Whitney Gin follow a simple formula: Pick a set of strong songs and sing them brilliantly. Sounds easy, doesn't it? But few do it as well as this local band. From sea shanties to Snow Patrol via Monty Python and barber shop, we were treated to some of the finest singing this side of the Black Stump. Throw in fine musicianship and an easy stage presence and you can see why so many people enjoyed themselves.

Here's hoping they're booked again soon!
