So we drove 14 hours one way to Alabama this past weekend to help out with Alabama INT's first event of the year. After driving all night and arriving just in time for set up, we were ready for the excitement.

Sara Hix was first up on the slalom ski and had clear skies and smooth water. This was her first competition and according to her dad she had been training hard and was ready to go! And go she did!! Sara owned the course and won her division...we are happy to welcome her to Broken Tools and are happy to add slalom to the ranks of our sports. Sara is our honorary spokesperson for slalom ski and we task her with growing the slalom membership for this ministry...if she approaches it like she skis...we have no worries!!

God was moving us in Alabama and we were able to help out a troubled young man and it was wonderful to be there, where God intended so we could be of service!

Camp Day 3: So the last day of our camp has come and passed and it was great. We started off on good, ol' Decker Lake and we had pretty good water...although the day was living up to our team name "Partly To Mostly Cloudy (P2MC).

We headed to our usually spot, a long a reed lined shore, but there were several fishing boats there. After making a few runs our wake politely suggested that this was not the best place to fish!!

Everyone excel at their tricks and I was happy to see improvement in them all. Taylor perfected his power slide and practiced handle passes doing blind surface 180's, he also landed several wake to wake jumps with the rope at 65 feet. Megan continue to improve on her wake to wake and once again demostrated her ability to ride switched better then anyone. Kaitlyn continues to improve her riding and is showing better comfort on the board, she is taking risks and it is paying off! Daniel started working on ollies and surface 180's, he has all the ethusiasm needed to board...just got to walk before you run Daniel-San! Aubry was able to join us for this final day and once again demonstrated how much fun you can have wakeboarding...I don't think I have ever seen her frown!

Finally, we called it a day and headed for a burger and fires for lunch. From there it was on to the house for a course in Texas Boater Safety and an evening of Guitar Hero, Halo 2 and fajitias.

The camp was a great success and I look forward to wakeboarding more with my crew...

So day two of our wakeboarding camp on Lake Decker passed too quickly for those of  us wannabe pros. We started the day of with a reminder of the verse Pat showed us, then Megan lead us in a prayer. Then first to ride was Megan, and the lesson of the day was focusing on wake jumps. Kaylee rode next and focused on surface 180s and crossing the wake even though it was her second day she performed them perfectly. Zach and Taylor went after her in that order working also on jumping the wake and being amazing they both were able to clear it wake to wake. Kaitlyn went next and crossed the wake like an old pro. My sister Ashley tried and got up even though it was her first time. We are all very sunburned, but happy with our improvements. For the rest of the day we will be hanging out with the xbox and pizza, also Zack and Kaitlyn and gonna battle it out on Guitar Hero. :] God Bless ya'll!

Well, today was the very first day of Broken Tools Ministry wake boarding camp. Unfortunately it was held in the gross and warm waters of Lake Decker because Lake Austin is closed due to flooding. We opened the lake with a prayer and a verse Pat picked special for what we do (Isaiah 43.2: "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you."). Zack started off with ollie 180's, and worked on riding switched. Taylor (who's back in Texas from stinky New Mexico! ) also worked on his ollie 180's and riding switched. Riding switched was a piece of cake for Megan, and also landed an ollie 180, switch ollie 180, and almost landed wake to wake. Shembra's daughter, Kaylee amazed us all with how quickly she got up and over her heelside wake. Kaitlyn crossed her toe side wake (finally), and Adrienne rode shortly after. Taylor kept trying to knock Kaitlyn in, but since Megan rocks so hard she avenged Kaitlyn and Taylor accidently fell in quite a few times. Pat might dump us all for younger Kaylee since she rocks so hard, but we're stuck to him like glue. Zack and Taylor wake skated, and after that Zack Taylor and Kaitlyn all wake surfed. Tomorrow should be fun, We (Pat, Megan, Daniel, Adrienne, Kaitlyn) are just chilling and eating burgers. Kaitlyn plans on owning Zack and Taylor in guitar hero tomorrow night. God bless!
