Well since I stepped off the stage at the Metro on June 17th I have been in hibernation. There were things in my life that I needed to give time to and I was unable to do that while dealing with my "band issues". But now, my life is better then ever and I feel comfortable giving music my attention once again. Truthfully, I have been itching to get back into a band for a while now. Everyday it has gnawed on me more and more until it was almost all I could think about. So I plan on strapping my bass back on and to begin looking for a band to join starting in January. A lot of you have sent me emails about what I am doing or what I am going to do so I figured this was the best way to answer. And I am sorry I did not answer your inquires personally, because I do appreciate each and everyone one of you that has reached out and cared. But this was something I had to deal with on my own and I did not know how it was going to turn out. Like any relationship that ends badly (relationships don't end on good terms...or else they would not be ending) I needed my space to figure out what I wanted. And because of this I know that I will never be able to turn away from music, for better or for worse. Call me a junky, because that is exactly what I feel like.
See you in '08

While surfing the web at work I came across the web page of an independent actor I admire, Nathan Baesel. Most of you have probably never heard of him, but next week his movie Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon comes out on DVD and I suggest you watch it. On his site he has a blog page that he updates pretty regularly, among other things. I usually am not a blog reader but I felt compelled to read his latest blog titled, "Back to Square One". In it he depicts the struggles, the choices and sacrifices he has made as an actor and continues to make. Crazy things like how being on unemployment is more profitable then working for a living and how the combined schedules of having a family and being an actor make it close to impossible to make any money. I couldn't help but draw parallels to my life and my current situation. I am not saying that I quit the band I was in because of money, because it wasn't. My reasons for quitting really had nothing to do with my life or responsibilities. I just don't know where to go from here. Should I stick with my good job and take it as far as it will take me? Or should I join another band and wait till the point where the singer "o.d.'s" or I feel like every time I see one of the members I want to punch him right in the face. I mean, here is an actor who has been in major motion pictures and prime time television shows and he still has to get 9$ an hour jobs as a floral delivery driver. I don't know if I want to be looking for minimum wage jobs in 5 or 10 years. And he is good! He is a good actor and he still has to struggle everyday to feed his family. I don't know if I am that good and if I'm not then what logic would have me succeeding in music??
Maybe art is like a drug: A short fix that seemingly brings all your dreams to fruition while eroding the ground beneath you.
I guess I am just lost and looking for answers, again. At least now I know I have someone in my life that no matter what happens will be there with me.

If you are reading this you know and/or care that I will no longer a part of Digital Mindy after June 17th 2007. So I figured I would show my respect to the people that do care by articulating the reasons for me leaving the band I have been a part of for the last 3.5 years. I feel there is no reason to name names or point fingers because there is not one person in the band that ruined the experience for me or caused me to leave. What it boils down to is that my heart is not in it and I do not believe in the band or some of its members as much as I did. Everyone changes over time and we just grew apart as men and musicians.
Digital Mindy will continue on without me and I am not sure what my next step will be. One thing is for sure and that is I will always be a supporter of the band I helped build. You may see me in a metal band sooner then you think, or you may never see me again. Either way I have reached many of the goals I set out for myself when I first picked up a bass so if it is my time to walk away then so be it. But I am sure rocking out in my front room will get old after a while…..
I do want to say THANK YOU to every fan that has come to a show, handed out a flyer, bought our swag, played our music and sang our songs with us over the past few years. Many of you have changed my life and I will always look on those experiences with a smile. I will miss meeting new fans in new places. I hope that you will continue to support the band and myself in whatever we do as separate entities.
I also hope to see all of you June 17th at the Metro~!
~So as the sun sets in the west I bid you a fond farewell~

""Asperger Syndrome or (Asperger's Disorder) is a neurobiological disorder named for a Viennese physician, Hans Asperger, who in 1944 published a paper which described a pattern of behaviors in several young boys who had normal intelligence and language development, but who also exhibited autistic-like behaviors and marked deficiencies in social and communication skills. In spite of the publication of his paper in the 1940's, it wasn't until 1994 that Asperger Syndrome was added to the DSM IV and only in the past few years has AS been recognized by professionals and parents.
Individuals with AS can exhibit a variety of characteristics and the disorder can range from mild to severe. Persons with AS show marked deficiencies in social skills, have difficulties with transitions or changes and prefer sameness. They often have obsessive routines and may be preoccupied with a particular subject of interest. They have a great deal of difficulty reading nonverbal cues (body language) and very often the individual with AS has difficulty determining proper body space. Often overly sensitive to sounds, tastes, smells, and sights, the person with AS may prefer soft clothing, certain foods, and be bothered by sounds or lights no one else seems to hear or see. It's important to remember that the person with AS perceives the world very differently. Therefore, many behaviors that seem odd or unusual are due to those neurological differences and not the result of intentional rudeness or bad behavior, and most certainly not the result of "improper parenting".
By definition, those with AS have a normal IQ and many individuals, exhibit exceptional skill or talent in a specific area. Because of their high degree of functionality and their naiveté, those with AS are often viewed as eccentric or odd and can easily become victims of teasing and bullying. While language development seems, on the surface, normal, individuals with AS often have deficits in pragmatics and prosody. Vocabularies may be extraordinarily rich and some children sound like "little professors." However, persons with AS can be extremely literal and have difficulty using language in a social context. ""
Or I am just sick and in a bad mood.

It is amazing to me the effect one person can have on you, good or bad. I am proud to say that I have found someone that is making me feel and believe a lot of corny stuff I never thought I would. Turns out the girl I have been looking for is real, and works at a porn store! :P
You got me hooked on you big time Ms. Corningstone :)

His name is OZZY and I just picked him up on Saturday. OZZY is a 9 week old Boxer puppy who is the cuttest thing I have ever seen. I will contiue to post tons of pictures of him and he even has a Myspace profile if you want to say hi. myspace.com/ozzydmdog Things are going VERY well and I could not be happier. I guess it is true, the sun really does have to shine on a dogs ass SOME day. *I do feel bad about hearing that Steve Irwin (the Crocodile Hunter) passed away. He was awesome for children and animal lovers anywhere, I feel for his family.
