A little write up from the lovely Raechelle Dias at Hybrid lab, check out the link below..
Daisyb started her career the old fashioned way – developing her craft and then getting out there and playing every chance she got. Idolising her older brother, a musician in a punk band, Daisyb was inspired to start performing from a very young age. As a self-taught guitarist she started her own punk cover band and was penning her own tracks by sixth form. Her first song was called 'Second Best' and amazingly had its own video, made by Daisyb herself. An introduction to Ryan Adams music, saw her shift direction. Through Adams she discovered Gold, Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan, as evident in her style.
Daisyb then began developing her own acoustic sound and a story telling approach to her song writing while at university in Derby. Poetry readings held at open mic nights she played at became a further source of inspiration and Daisyb's work soon moved away from the sentimental towards stronger life experiences.
Purchasing a loop station was a major artistic development. "At first it sounded awful." but true to her artistic integrity, Daisyb stuck with it, mastered it and has never looked back. This quirky piece of machinery is often the highlight of Daisyb's live shows.
After university she would drive to London for gigs and then head straight back up to Derby for work the next morning. Her determination to pursue music cemented her eventual move to London where Daisyb supported herself by busking. Performing at countless open mic nights, with poor sound and grumpy crowds has nurtured Daisy's craft; something few musicians, especially her age, seem concerned with.
This bright spark won't be playing the diva anytime soon and in many respects isn't concerned with fame as much as the quality of her work. "I think that really talented people don't need to carry on, they can let their talent speak for themselves." Too humble to think this applies to her, this subtle approach describes her perfectly.

Music Reviews
The World's End, an old Victorian pub is the perfect venue for Daisyb's show. It provides an authentic atmosphere for a bonafide artiste who does it all: lead vocals, guitar and the operation of a loop station machine!
She is playfully funny and adamant professional the entire time, thus her stage presence handles the rowdy crowd seamlessly.
The mood is set when she opens with three original songs 'Control', 'Good as Gold' and 'Case of You'. I hear someone whisper, 'She reminds you of when you still believed the world was great.'
Daisyb's live show combines her own music with Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder covers. Singing her "Love song for Amy" an acoustic interpretation of Amy Winehouse's 'No, No, No' Daisyb transforms the room full of people desperate to drink away the week to an audience submissive and enthralled by a girl and her guitar.
Her songs are soulful, deep and textured. This is a musician who has put in the hours, evident through her perfect pitch and tone. Daisyb manages to emit the gritty honesty of artists like Janis Joplin with smooth vocals reminiscent of a young Melissa Ethridge.
Next was a version of 'TLC's 'Don't Go Chasing Waterfalls' the crowd agreeing that it puts the original to shame with Daisyb stamping it with her own evanescent style.
It all culminates in her final number, Sympathy from her latest EP of the same name. Her finale silences everyone: one felt as if they were watching a star, Daisy B rising.

http://www.thisisderbyshire.co.uk/displayNode.jsp?nodeId=124615&command=displayContent&sourceNode=124519&c..19671135&moduleName=InternalSearch&formname=sidebarsearch Check out the link above for a little look at an interview with the good ole Derby Evening telegraph... xxxx Here it is.. DAISY B'S BIDDING TO FOLLOW THE JAMES M AVENUE TO SUCCESS BY DAMON PARKIN DPARKIN@DERBYTELEGRAPH.CO.UK
09:30 - 26 January 2008 Everybody in Derby has a James Morrison story, laughs Daisy B.
The award-winning singer's career was shaped in the city's bars and nightclubs.
Before the BAFTAs, the number one album and his star turn at the Princess Diana memorial concert, Morrison was dishing out cassettes and dragging his guitar to open mic nights at Ryan's Bar, Five Lamps and The Friary.
Daisy identifies with the mixed emotions of deflation and elation that come with being a jobbing musician waiting for the big break.
The Derby-based singer-songwriter, who has just released her debut EP, has performed on the same bill as Morrison many times and now he has moved from mate to mentor.
"James's story is really inspiring," she says.
"He suffered so much rejection in his early days, no-one in Derby would give him a gig, but he dealt with it and kept plugging away.
"It can be soul-destroying to perform in a bar to a handful of people who aren't really listening. But then someone will collar you and tell you that they love what you're doing and that reignites your passion."
Derby radio station RamFM has been championing Daisy's EP, Sympathy, with prime-time airplay and regular plugs on its Internet-based show Upload, which showcases music from up-and-coming Derby performers.
Daisy combines a rhythmic guitar style with bluesy vocals, harmonica breaks and innovative percussive loops.
Born in Norfolk to a potter and a singer-turned-teacher, Daisy studied pop music, marketing and career management at the University of Derby.
"The idea was to write and perform, promote myself and manage my own career," says the 25-year-old.
"But, if you're serious about being an artist, you have to focus on the creative process and hope that other people believe in you enough to help with the other aspects.
"I dropped off a copy of my CD at a Leicester bar a while ago and within hours I'd had a call from someone who said they'd listen to the first minute of the first song and they wanted to get involved. He's now my manager."
A regular on the Derby music scene for a few years, Daisy has been drawn to the bright lights of the big city in recent months and knows she has to build up her profile in London if she is to realise her dream of a successful recording career.
With a guitar on her back, rucksack on her shoulder and mobile PA system in her arms, she's trawling the pubs, clubs and tube stations of the capital.
"Busking can be fun," she insists. "I use it as rehearsal time for my gigs and you meet lots of interesting characters. Last week, one woman dropped two walnuts into my guitar case and returned the next day to throw in a packet of mints."
Legendary American artists Bob Dylan and India Arie are her major musical influences, although Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall's emergence from the Fife pub gig scene to international acclaim has struck a chord with Daisy, as has Morrison's emergence from Ryans Bar to Royal Variety Performance in a matter of months.
"I saw James in concert a few days before his album hit number one," recalls Daisy.
"He was mobbed as he left the stage and, grateful to spot a familiar face, came over to chat for a while.
"He just said that nothing had prepared him for what had happened, that it was crazy but, if it didn't work out long-term, he'd be happy to move to Spain and spend his days strumming his guitar in a bar. He's so level-headed and unassuming about his massive talent and, for him, it is about the music not the money.
"Of course, it's the same as any other job - you need an income. But, for me, a record contract would be about support and investment. It would be the start, not an end result."

So a new year..everyone seems to be writing new blogs with what they're up to so here's mine.. Life's pretty hectic at the moment I've been inbetween houses and cities for a few months now and now I'm moving down to London for a while to see what comes of it..I'll be inbetween London and Derby until I have to be in one place more than the other I've had a great few weeks, the chaps at Ram FM have been helping out a lot with promotion. I had an interview with Anna and Andy the other week at Ram FM and then another interview with the Derby Telegraph today that will go to print on Friday and the Ram FM interview will be on air soon. It's pretty strange getting used to interviews, I just couldn't stop talking today with Damon from the telegraph I'm pretty sure he ran out of tape..it was great talking about everything that's been happening recently. I'm really looking forward to London, all things new, and a room of my own for a bit and being a little lost for a while... lots of love to all of you happy 2008! xxx

So here I am back in the midlands again!
It's been a great summer thanks to everyone who helped me out in York, I really enjoyed playing everywhere over the past few months, working with some really cool people and watching some great music..
So next stop..London..I've had an audition with London underground to busk for them and another audition with a music agency to get some residency work. It's all a matter of making everything work at the same time but I feel pretty good about it. I just want to get out there and play! But for now it's time to get my head down and try and get it all together and locate various things I've left with different people around the country!!

Hey all...
Sorry it's been so long since I blogged life has been pretty much all over the place since I wrote last.
So here I am in York, it has only just stopped raining and the sun is finally shining so I have applied for a busking license, which I tried to put into action today but every patch I went to the same flute player was tooting away so I have to wait for some other time when I can get my very own space. I like to call it daisyb-usking hehe..yeah..I'm sticking to the music rather than the stand up... I've got a few gigs coming up here as well which is cool. I've just been checking out the open mic nights, meeting people and selling CDs it's all been going pretty well. I've got a few more gigs in the pipeline so watch this space. The most random musician I've seen so far was playing "merrily we roll along" on a squeeze box with a harmonica in his mouth..at the same time..it was pretty complicated..
The job is going really well, we have a energy drink promotion at the moment so most days are spent rushing around in a caffeine haze in fits of giggles..they are really enthusiastic about my CD, they've been playing it in store and there is talk of me playing in the store sometime soon...in a window? hmmm...they're looking after me :)
There is just one thing on my mind this week...SUMMER SUNDAE!!! Can't wait to come back to the midlands this weekend and play! I'm on the musician stage at 2pm, its one of the first acts so get there early to come and see me. Day tickets are only around £30 which is pretty cheap for all the music that's going on. I've had quite a few emails from various different people telling me they're coming along so it should be a fantastic day..if you haven't got your ticket yet check out www.summersundae.com and get invloved!!
Well people that's it for now, I'm trying to sort my transport for a very complicated week of traveling around the country..it's making my head spin..
Much love
