we are indeed back in el saddle.
i finally got myself a reliable vehicle.
we've landed a place to practice.
now we just need to get in the same room and fight it out like baboons at a wedding.

joe still has a beard.
i'm rocking a fierce mustache.
therefore the new music will have more hair. more pubes.

we're both working on albums right now in celebration of "create and album in a month" month.
there's an international network happening and we're part of it! it's pretty sweet.

here's some old news...
joe and his fiance moved from sunny california to icy new hampshire. the band went into hibernation. frozen in carbonite, not unlike the great han solo.

here's some more old news...
last june i flew across the country to play a northeast/midwest tour with joe. the last show on the tour was the last show we've played. back into the carbonite, motherfucker.

here's some NEW news...
my special lady friend was just accepted to a graduate studies program at Boston University. the program starts this fall...
therefore we will be leaving santa cruz and returning to the great muscley embrace of northeastern region of the country.

i will miss california but not nearly as much as the awesome people i have befriended whilst living here.

so beware...
the Giraffes?Giraffes! machine will awaken from it's mighty carbonite slumber and lash you with it's migthy purple tongue because you said a swear word!!!

we are friends with a band called BODY FARM. i, ken topham,  am one of the members of BODY FARM. we just recorded an EP.  it was engineered by me and Fred Avila.

we have some shows. we want more shows.

i think joe has been working his fingers to their boney little bones up in new hampshire. he tells me he's been making music. that's good. i'll see him in a few weeks.

overall, things have been pretty uneventful as of late. i have been playing music with myself. and a few people. jazz with some old jazz guys. writing some stuff with a couple of handsome graduates of the mothers eggs academy for boys. beware...

i've obtained access to a computer infinitely more powerful and wise than the computer that was used to record the last album (G?G!), which was purchased to replace the computer that contained files for several other music projects, which was stolen from my bedroom when my house was broken into (by some fucking coward motherfuckers) one night while joe and i were playing a show (G?G!).
this computer is ri.dic.u.lous.

i'm going back to yosemite national park next week to take care of some unfinished business.
yes.
i'm talking about hiking up to half-dome. i went last month and didn't get to the top for 2 reasons...
1. we started too late. (we started around 9am, got as far as we did by 4pm, and turned around to make it to the trail base by 7:30. the sun was going down fast and we still would have had another few hours of hiking to do. i've taken down a mountain lion once. i can't say i could take another one. especially in the dark.)
2. we got lost and hiked in the wrong direction for way too long.
so this time we're going to camp there in order to start the hike early enough.
i guess i'll let you know how it goes.

i took my dog for a nice long walk in the forest today. one of my favorite things to do. she loves to run in the creek. she's a redbone hound. if you're an escaped convict, she can already smell your law-breakin' ass and she's comin' to kill you.

i've been alerted to some illegal downloadage of the 'more skin' album.

unless you are actually, physically running out of the record store with it, screaming, and have to fight your way through the security guards, getting maced in the face and kicked in the balls or vagina and then tasered right in the chest, but then somehow still managing to bite off one of the guards' fingers (transferring the electrical current, causing him to shit himself) and collapse the windpipe of another guard with the corner of the giraffes? giraffes! album you're stealing, and then dive through the floor-to-ceiling glass window at the front of the record store, triumphantly ripping the tasers from your flesh, escaping to the sweet, sweet freedom of the night.
