as you probably know (if you've been keeping up with us), we just started our tour with our boys from Yuma, Arizona, BEG FOR LIFE!  We're hitting Cali, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas on this one, so check out the dates on our page and see if we're coming to your town!  And of course, come out and support!  And also, we're touring with our new lineup (Antagonist v3.0) of myself, Lond Garcia (drums), Nick Reyes (bass), and Roland Leonard (guitar).  If you'd like a small taste of how stupid and drunk we are on tour, check out our 5 part mockumentary, from our last tour, entitled "ANTAGONIST V3.0" (videos below).

Hey everyone, we know it's been a while since we've updated you but we have some big news!  We're very excited to announce the newest addition to Antagonist, our new bassist and long time friend, Nick Reyes.  We've been jamming buddies since we were in high school, and now he's officially given up his soul to us! His first official show as a member will be on September 17th at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA. So if you're in the area, come to the show to see the new Antagonist lineup and to show Nick your love!

It seems like many of you thought we were done when we lost members, or that we couldn't get back on our feet.  The fact is, this is the new and improved Antagonist, Antagonist v3.0.  We're stronger than ever and even more Metal as Fuck. 

To prove it, we're going to record a BRAND NEW track this weekend!  The track is called "Wake Up and Smell the Lies," and it'll be released on our myspace within the coming weeks.  Also, check out our tour dates this month w/ our friends Braver, and in November w/ Beg for Life and Maya Over Eyes.

Hey kids, it's been a while since we've updated you on our happenings, but it's starting to feel like you boys and girls have forgotten about us just a little bit!!

As you probably already know, we're on the hunt for a new bassist!  Lots of people have shown interest (thanks guys!) but we still haven't been able to pinpoint someone just right for the position.  It takes a lot more than just musical ability to be in a band, it takes personality, it takes drive, and most importantly, it takes DEDICATION.  Having the right mix of people in a band is SO VITAL.  Why do you think bands break up all the time??  It's not easy to find the right chemistry between four people.  In fact, it's THE HARDEST thing to find.  So while we'd like to find someone as soon as possible, we're not going to rush the process, and instead we're going to wait it out until we find someone just right, in all aspects.

So, if you're one of the people who is still interested in playing bass with Antagonist, please read our blog about the bassist search FIRST, and then send us a message!!

In other news...

We've been wanting to record some cover tunes for a very long time (for fun, of course), and we're finally starting to narrow down which ones we want to do.  Right now, we have 2 in mind and we're also possibly going to demo a BRAND NEW SONG!!!!  Yes, you read correctly, a BRAND NEW song from Antagonist.  These songs probably won't be on any recording, they'll be exclusively on Myspace, so be on the lookout for that.  We're shooting for mid/late August to get these online.

We also plan on doing a handful of shows out of town in late August, probably all within California, but maybe also Arizona, and as far as New Mexico.  Dates to be announced soon!

If you haven't already checked out our merch store, find the big ass picture on our front page that says "antagonist merch" and check out the designs we have.  ORDER SOME SHIT, we're broke and need to buy a new trailer, so help us out!!

In case you thought we were sitting around with our thumbs in our asses, you're absolutely RIGHT.  just kidding.

We are all so saddened by the news that the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson, has passed away at the age of 50.

Even though in the last 10 or so years his life has been a circus, NOBODY could deny the amazing music he created, and the amazing performer he was.

We were all looking forward to see him make a comeback on his supposed reunion tour, but unfortunately that day will never come.

Thankfully, we are left with an amazing legacy and a handful of amazing records, including one of the best records ever made, period, THRILLER.

I speak for all the other guys in the band when I say Michael was a huge part of our childhood, and has carried on ever since.  He's actually the one thing we listen to most while we're on tour, without a doubt.

Hats off to Michael and his amazing career.  They really don't make music the way they used to, and he's a true testament to that.  Long live the King.  We'll all be bumpin' THRILLER til the end of time.  Rest in Peace, Michael

As some of you may or may not know, our good friend Paul Salem has exited the band due to other business obligations he has to take care of.  We love him and will miss him being in the band, but I think this decision is best for both our interests.  We're still friends and there's definitely no bad blood between us!
In light of the situation, we are now looking for a touring/permanent bassist!  We were lucky enough to be able to find a new guitarist very quickly, but bassists are very few and far in between, so we thought we'd go to our myspace community and see if anyone is interested.  Anyway, here are the requirements:

-Must be 18 or older
-Legal US citizen
-Must have own PROFESSIONAL equipment (your 15 watt practice amp doesn't count)
-Must have recording experience (touring experience is a plus)
-Must have valid drivers license
-No druggies/excessive drinkers
-No criminal record!
-Must live in the LA/OC area, or be willing to re-locate

The next step is learning our songs "Exist", "Bomb Shelter" and "Valor and Villainy."  And no, I will not TAB them out for you, that defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Hey everyone, time for another Antagonist update!  We have a lot of stuff to talk about, so get ready...you ready?  okay. here we go...

First off, we'd like to say THANKS to everyone that came out to see us on these last few tours of the Northwestern and Southwestern United States!  Special thanks goes out to our buddies in Last House on the Left for putting up with our childish bullshit on the road. Please check them out if you have a chance, they're on our top friends and they will rule your chonies!

Now that we're back home, we have time to discuss a few very important things, the first one being the addition of a new member to the Antagonist family, our new guitarist and long time friend, Roland Leonard!  He's filled in for the last few tours after the departure of our boy Matt Lopez, and he's done a FANTASTIC job.  He was originally just a fill-in but he ended up pretty much blowing us away with his guitar playing ability AND his unique songwriting skills.  And the fact that he's just a downright cutie pie doesn't hurt either!  So next time you're at one of our shows, please welcome him with open arms, like Steve Perry would want it!

Next on the agenda is our brand new online MERCH STORE!!  We've been lagging it HARD on this end, but we've finally gotten around to building ourselves a sweet bigcartel merch empire (not really, but we have some shit for sale). The url for the merch store is Antagonist.bigcartel.com, and there will definitely be a sweet banner on our page that'll directly link you to the store.  Right now there's only a few items for sale, including our new album EXIST, but there will be lots of other designs added as the days go by, so keep checking back!

And finally, we've decided to post another NEW SONG!!!!  It's off our latest album "EXIST" (go pick it up if you haven't already!), and it's called "ANGELS."  We've been playing it live for the past few months, but now we've decided to post it on our myspace.  So PLEASE check it out, and PLEASE tell your friends about it!
