Book two in the Matchmaking Chef series (this is a spin-off of the story Bed, Breakfast and You by Maddie James in Ladies of Legend: Finding Home.)
Wild Katie Long, she’ll never settle down, will she? But Chris Marks has had his eye set on her for a long time. She just doesn’t know it yet. When Chris hires Suzie to set him up with a romantic dinner for two, so he can woo Katie in style, Suzie does all she can to set the scene and the mood. Thing is, Katie isn’t about to be wooed and she’s hotter than hot crossed buns when she figures out what Suzie and Chris are up to.
Then Suzie turns the tables on both of them, when she switches the mood by supplying Chris with a couple of items that just might tame Katie after all – handcuffs and a leather riding crop. .... Murder on the Mountain by Maddie James, a romantic suspense novel in the Ladies of Legend series, is now available in ebook format at Resplendence Publishing! Look for the print version in January, 2009.
Murder on the Mountain has an interesting story in itself. This is a story that was conceived many years ago. In fact, it was my first manuscript to finish front to back. Of course, that first draft was terrible. I revised and revived it many times over the years and even put it away deeming it a "practice book."
But the book survived a computer crash and being ignored for years, until earlier this year. The story, although I knew it would need work, was perfect for the Ladies of Legend series. Set in the mountains in a small town in Tennessee, it appears this storyline was just waiting for it's time.
It's time is now.
I'm thrilled to see that Murder on the Mountain, a romantic suspense novel set in the fictitious town of Legend, Tennessee, released. This is a story of my heart and I hope it will be one of yours, as well.
Currently the ebook version is available at Resplendence Publishing. I'll let you know as soon as it is available on Fictionwise and Amazon.
For more information on the Ladies of Legend series, please visit Legend, Tennessee.

Maddie James was in Joseph-Beth Booksellers yesterday, a week after our big Kentucky Romance Writers signing there.
Looky what she found--we're in a very, very nice neighborhood. See our pretty cover? See it is displayed face out?!?!? Wow. If you live in the Lexington, KY area, or plan to be there, take time to stop at Joseph-Beth Booksellers at the Lexington Green Mall. It is a gorgeous store, with a huge inventory. Including some really awesome romance novels...

Some of my fellow authors said it before I got around to this, but hey, I'll say it again. Yesterday's book signing at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington, KY was wonderful! Someone(s) had done excellent promotion, because we had a crowd of romance readers for three hours straight. It was a treat to meet new readers and share with them about our stories. Of course, signing books is BIG FUN, too. I had a drawing for the ebook version of The Blank Book, and last night sent it to the winner. (Amy, enjoy!) This picture is of Janet Eaves, me, Jan Scarbrough, Tia Fanning, and Maddie James. I left the house yesterday at 7:15 a.m., and returned twelve hours later. Long days like that often wear me out, but not this one. I feel excited about the community of people who love reading and writing romance. I want to jump onto the next writing project, and get the word out about the November release of A Legendary Christmas. Many thanks to everyone at Joseph-Beth, to Kentucky Romance Writers, Resplendence Publishing, and to all the wonderful authors who participated. Magdalena

It is soooo exciting to see Beauty and the Beast as the first offering on fictionwise.com! This is a book near and dear to my heart as the hero is oh, so, sexy, and the heroine is not! But like all men who find themselves captivated with a woman, all he sees is Beauty.... Too bad, she can also be a Beast! Check it out, or you may be sorry! LOL

Come and take a look! The newest paperback release in the Legend Series is set for August 2008.
Beauty and the Beast, by Janet Eaves, is packed with deceit, lies, mystery, and of course, romance. The hero is too young for the heroine, but his cute, surfer-boy looks, magic hands, and yes, sassy mouth, turn out to be more than she can resist. Of course, if he really makes her mad she always has the option of killing him... but what she doesn't know is that he has that option, too.
This novella is currently available electronically through ResplendencePublishing.com if you prefer... I just hope you check it out one way or the other... and can't put it down!
Hugs,
Janet Eaves

I can't believe this is the last week of June. Where did the month go?
There was a time when summer was lazy and carefree, relaxed and unhurried. Mine aren't like that any more. Are yours?
When I was teaching, summer break was my goal. Get through the school year, take a leisurely break for the summer, and then start all over again in the fall. It was a nice schedule, teaching. You get to do a do-over every year.
Writing is kind of like that, too. With each book, I get to do a do-over. Of course it is not the same plot or same characters, but it's another chance to write the best book I can. Make this one better than the last. It's nice if you can have leisurely "summer break" in between.
Lately, that's not been the case for me. In all respects. This particular book, the current wip, is moving slower than normal. Perhaps because I've not given myself a break. I find that is how my day job is moving, too. Slower than normal to get tasks accomplished.
But all will get accomplished. I know it will.
Why do I suddenly have this hankering to take a beach towel, a bottle of baby oil and iodine, my transister radio, and a large glass of iced tea out to my back yard and lay out all day.
Um, perhaps because I'm not sixteen and it's not 1970 anymore. Sigh.

Heigh-ho, heigh-ho...it's off to Cincinnati we go! This weekend found all four of us at the Lori Foster Reader and Writer Get Together. A record number of people were in attendance -- almost 300 in total, with approximately 112 authors. This was a great chance to meet readers and new friends and to network with authors and industry professionals. We met up with Resplendence Publishing authors for most of the events and the booksigning on Saturday afternoon. We also had a great time, laughed and sang too much, and sort of pigged out on cheesecake (at least Maddie did...some of us were really good) but heck, these times come around all to few, right? Janet, Magdalena, Jan and me (Maddie) brought a gift basket for the charity raffle and were so pleased that Joyce Ann McLaughlin won it! Joyce Ann, we sure hope you enjoy your "stay" in Legend, Tennessee! And, we hope you enjoy your copy of Ladies of Legend: Finding Home. Picture, from left: Maddie, Magdalena, Joyce and Janet. (Hm, Jan, was suspiciously absent! Actually, she was off meeting with an agent so we'll allow her that!) Barbara Vey from Publisher's Weekly also posted Joyce's prize catch on her blog today, so check it out if you have a chance. We all try to catch Barbara's blog frequently. Be sure to stop by and see her. We're all tired...but it's a good tire, as they say. I know that I, for one, am looking forward to the next time we all get together again. maddie
