Hey everyone,

As usual, our fair city offers a plethora of  excellent music options on any given night of the week, but tomorrow, Saturday February 2nd, there's a particularly stellar line-up at the Rockwood Music Hall (196 Allen Street for those of you who, unlike me, don't practically live there already).

CHRIS BERGSON will start the evening at 7pm.

SHWA will be celebrating the release of his new CD, Chop Chop. 8pm

WAKEY! WAKEY!  will show why he was worthy of being featured in the brand new issue of IndieSoundsNY. 9pm

RICH GIRLS (future SoundAffects.net featurees) will ponder if they could be "almost just like you and what's his name," while wearing... well, we'll just have to wait and see... 10pm

BREAKING LACES (11pm) and The Roots Music Allstars round out the evening. (midnight)

Come! :)

With so much to choose from on a daily basis, it's rare that I play musical favorites, but Renee Cologne's CD "Rock and Roll Housewife," was an easy choice for one of my top CDs of 2007. Renee has created an album filled with sonic details that accentuate her flowing voice and melodic, moving lyrics. She was featured in the November 2007 issue of IndieSoundsNY. To read more about Renee and why you may have already heard her voice without knowing it , please visit:

http://www.soundaffects.net/interviews/reneecolognenov2007.html

For those of you in NYC, please join in experiencing Renee's music live TONIGHT (January 23rd) at 7pm at The Cutting Room (19 West 24th Street (between 6th & Broadway). $10.

And, glancing ahead, save the date: February 2nd at Rockwood Music Hall: Shwa Losben Band (CD release!), Rich Girls, Wakey! Wakey!, Breaking Laces and Your Vegas--- a stellar night of music also not to be missed!

As always, please support live music/art/photography/dance/creativity in all of it's beautiful, authentic incarnations wherever you are. There is always something magical just waiting for you to discover it around the next unknown corner....

Hey everyone,

Now that 2008 is upon us, I want to wish you a new year filled with endlessly fulfilling moments of joy, creativity, clarity and forward motion. All of us at SoundAffects.net thank you for your continued interest and appreciation for what we do. When I launched SoundAffects.net over five years ago, it was borne from my overwhelming need to create and my passionate love of music. I wanted to create a kind of place where U2, Prince, The Foo Fighters or Carole King could be featured along that amazing band you just heard for the first time in your local venue or the singer/songwriter you happened to stumble upon on a rainy Thursday night... And, I wanted to establish a place for the incredible writers and photographers I've crossed paths with to display their work while growing in their crafts (artist development isn't dead everywhere just yet...).

The site and the things that have come from it have enriched my life so much more than I ever dreamed it would.  It is a reminder  to me that not only is anything possible, but when surrendering to simply doing the work, being clear with your intention and desiring to add beauty to the world good things will happen.

My deep gratitude goes to the person who built the site and who still generously offers her help, as well as to phenomenal photographers Janet Reid Boltz, Alice Barkwell, Em Ignacio, and Matt Boltz and to all past and present contributors.

Most of all, thank YOU for reading, enjoying and listening.

Rock on,

Lauren and the SoundAffects.net family

Ps. Looking for new music to check out? Of course you are.;) Check out these fine artists and bands:  Renee Cologne,  SkinGod, The Honorary Title, The Hard Lessons,  Rich Girls, Jerry Cherry, Julia Brown, Celia Chavez, Dorit and NLX.

Pss. Want more?  Of course you do. ;) www.soundaffects.net

Hey everyone,

In the latest issue of IndieSoundsNY, I feature in my column, "The L Word," an exquisite voice you may have already heard: Renee Cologne.  An accomplished artist, Renee has a long history of singing on well-known TV commercials--- most likely on some you're seen and heard. But, Renee is a talented musician in her own right and has recently released one of my favorite albums of 2007, Rock and Roll Housewife.   To read about her days touring in a teal green tour bus with Meatloaf to her current life as a musician and mother, go to:

www.indiesoundsny.com and click on "current issue."

To hear Renee's music, visit: www.myspace.com/reneecologne

If you're in NYC, pick up your copy in print at a local music venue near you!

Thanks for reading and listening,
Lauren
