Today is a sad day for me. My beloved Astros traded one of our best and brightest prospects to the hated Atlanta Braves...for pitching. Reminds me of the bonehead Boston trade where they acquired Larry Anderson sending young prospect Jeff Bagwell to Houston. Needless to say Bagewell went on to have an illustrious career while Larry faded away into oblivion.

It also reminds me of the time we traded away Kenny Lofton.

Or the time we traded away Bobby Abreu. Now with the Yankees.

Or the time we traded away Billy Wagner. Or Mike Hampton. Or Daryl Kile. or Ken Caminiti. Bonehead after bonehead move.

In a few years if not months I will be shaking my head in disappointment as Josh Anderson sends one into the cheap seats with one lone tear running down the old cheek as I wonder what would it be like if he was still in an Astros uniform.

I can watch closers blow a save. The number 3 man strike out swinging with runners in scoring position with 2 outs. A pitcher walk in the winning run with bases loaded. I can watch teams cave in the final weeks of the season. Smile and say, "we'll get 'em next year." BUT to have upper management have total disregard for the fans and the City of Houston by trading away young talent. At least trade for something other than bullpen pitching. The guy they traded for isn't even a closer. What a freakin disappointment.
