With this mix, I wanted to do something a little different. Instead of giving you what I’d listen to before going out to party with my friends, I wanted to share my mind / body trip of traveling to play a show. I spend a lot of time alone in public places; in airports, hotels, and in cars and clubs with ever-new groups of strangers (who often by the end of the night become friends) before sharing my soul with hundreds or thousands of people. I find this to be both exhilarating and alienating. This journey starts from home to flying, to the airport in a new city, a car ride to the hotel, a little introspection, a workout, dinner, some self doubt, a shower, the necessary ego pump, and of course, the main event, the thrill of being up there, the WHY I do what I do ... but also the insanity of adoration, the constant fear of failure, and ultimately, the bittersweet reality of heading back to the hotel alone after the party and the afterparty are all done ... I hope you feel me. <3 reid

Play Me Records is the brainchild of Mark Subsonik and Reid Speed. The two first met through drum & bass but teamed up over a shared love of slick pop hooks, twisted drum programming and phat nasty subs. Now they are proud to bring a battalion of fresh artists forth to slaughter turntables the world over, beginning with PLAY ME 001.

Now we want YOU.. We specialize in BASS HEAVY sounds, so bassline electro, fidget house and super nasty dubstep are all fair game. Trance and minimal techno are not what we are looking for. So if you think you've got what it takes, please send us your tracks!

The first release features Canadian hipster phenoms Supercycle on the A with "The Dead Walk", a sweet romp through a graveyard, it chugs with bone grinding bass and 80's synth accents, complemented by angelic pads and plucky electro- guitar riffs.

The AA, "No Tomorrow", comes live and direct from the city of angels'  After Midnight. Their unique brand of electro is heavy and synth driven, with just a touch of pop vocal styling to keep it sweet.

Current mood:  betrayed
In their deperate attempt to erase me from history, Josh David/ Fakedown has removed me from the Breakdown Myspace page. They also took down the website where i was the first one in the crew listed and the "About Us" Section, and the Breakdown bio which read:

Breakdown is LA’s most incendiary DJ/ Promotion/Production team, made up of Reid Speed & Josh David. They met in 2005 through Reid & ESDJCOs “Icebreaker” party at Circus/ Spundae and exploded into an empire of breakbeat-heavy party music and sick graphical branding. Breakdown (the party) kicked off in 2006 at The Vanguard in Hollywood and featured the top talent of Krafty Kuts, Deekline, Ctrl Z & Screwface, Aquasky, Lee Coombs, and Baby Anne during its tenure. The party expanded to other venues, where The Rogue Element, Hybrid, Meat Katie, General Midi, The Autobots, NAPT, and LA Riots have all thrown down for the Breakdown. Along with Beatz & Bobz, they hosted the Nu-Skool Breaks room at the 2006 Ultra Afterparty at WMC. Their continuing efforts to push new sounds to an ever-expanding audience include their much loved EXPLOSIVE mix CD series, their weekly show on iBreaks Radio, their high energy DJ sets, and their limited edition Breakdown T-shirt line launched in the summer of ‘07. In late fall of 07, they decided to add production to their resume, Josh’s brother Matt David joined the crew, and Breakdown Sound was born.

He also started a facebook "fan" page for Breakdown where they have left me off the members of the group, and are clearly not moving on without the name, as we shook hands and agreed to back in January.

I have moved on, and thought it would be civil and simple to get on with our separate lives and music careers. But when dealing with coddled trust fund brats, who didint have much going on prior to their involvement with me, and one who doesnt understand what hard work and dedication are about, this is unfortunately how it ends up sometimes.

I am posting this up to let anyone who liked Breakdown because of my involvement,
I am not involved anymore, and that they should no longer support it...

In fact, if you care, or have a minute, please remove yourself from their list of friends, flag them as spam, or send them a message letting them know how you feel about their pathetic ploy to feed off the good name I gave them...

thank you for reading, and thank you for your support.
