My name is Idren Natural a RasTafarian Chanter / Vocalist , I was born and raised in Coventry UK
I have been involved within the Roots Dub scene from the late 80s.


MP: WHEN AND HOW DID YOU GET STARTED TO LISTEN REGGAE MUSIC?

IN: From School days around 1978 , I bought my first LP off a friend. Garveys Ghost - Burning Spear,
It opened my eyes to alot of History and Knowledge i never knew or heard about. this connected me
With the Roots , I then began attending sessions which took place at local community centers and
old church halls Introducing me to the Sound System Culture, Listening to Sounds Like Black Axe. Ital Roots
King Alpha, Nyah man and of course JAH Shaka. This is also the same time when i felt strong vibes
from RasTafari Liverty

MP:  WHAT ABOUT YOUR MUSICAL BACKGROUND?

IN: I had a passion for music and dance from a younger age, learning instruments like Violin / Cello, and steel pans
 at School, and also performing . i also began Listening and dancing to Soul and Jazz funk.



MP:  HOW DID YOU BEGIN IN REGGAE BUSINESS?

IN: My first sound system was IMPERIAL YOUTH, with my school friends, we played at mainly community events
and parties Locally.
Then later there was changes. we teamed up with some other sound freinds and began MESSENJAH PROMOTION
These days i was the selector. not really chanting on the mic to much.
I Later linked up with MALACHI RASTANATIONAL sound from Bedford, [ 1982 ]
during my time with Malachi. i began chanting on the Mic with Jacob Naphtali in the studio.
this is when the song wrighting really begun. i lived in Bedford for 2 years meeting musicians like
Dread and Fred, Reuben Unitone, and Noel Zebulon from Milton Keynes. my music career really began after my 1st release was recorded
i started doing some shows with the Ironworks Crew [ Dread&Fred] around 1991



MP: WHAT DROVE YOU TO EMBRACE RASTAFARI FAITH?

IN: After i studied the words of Marcus Garvey, It lead me to the Emperor of Ethiopia, The Lion of Judah,
I saw real Royality. and was amazed about this half of history that was never spoken about, so i started study Ethiopia
and began Reading alot of Books , And observing life alot more.. When i read the speeches of H.I.M. RasTafari. i was really uplifted. the words were so heart touching
educating and spoken with a Universal spirit. to Know i had connected with a real descendant of the Solomonic Linage made me ask
myself alot of questions. where i am going and coming from. This is when i had to accept the truth. and stop listen to lies, and false leaders
To Know RasTafari is a true comfort.

MP: YES I.....TELL US YOUR PROJECTS FOR THE FUTURE.

IN: I-tinue working with Ironworks / Noel Zebulon & Reuben Unitone. we have established a Record Label called Hands & Hearts
so always alot of studio works happening, I have been building i&i oneness studio called Ten Strings with J.dubson. hopefully by 2010
everything will be ready.
meanwhile i have finished projects with Kibbish Tribe Label from Germany, and King Shiloh,  just awaiting releases on these,
also unfinshed projects in the pipeline, Tracks to be released with Dandelion sound from Germany, Musical Ben- France
and Ghetto City Productions I-taly
 
MP: How i'n'i oneness was born?

IN: I was a member of the Rastafarian Foundation Established in Leeds 1990, we would organise events celebrating all Rasta Calendar
Dates. and also hold drum / chant sessions. there was about 25 members from all houses of Rastafari, as ones
Grow, some changed there life styles. and some went in different directions. So my way of carrying on this Positive Vibration
was to Establish I&I Oneness. meaning International & I [U]niversal Oneness. this is also when i met Ras Iyah from Leeds,
we began putting on dances in Leeds. bringing sounds like Abashanti I. Yabbys . Freedom Masses . Jah Trinity. and also
artistes Dub Judah. Rasheda , Aisha. Lidj Incoparated, Roots Lepkie . these days the dub scene was still very small
I&I Oneness began supporting artistes who performed in Leeds. 1991-1997 dj sound sets & playing at dub clubs around UK
and then Later France and rest of Europe

MP:  What was your very first release?

IN: 1st Release 1991 HIGHEST REGION, featuring Jacob Naphtali. recorded at Unitone 1989. then remixed
by Dread and Fred [ Ironworks ] LP /CD - ON HIGH - Jah Shaka Label

MP: WELL...TELL US ABOUT YOUR OTHER MUSICAL FEATURINGS AND COLLABORATIONS.

IN: Most of my releases have been joint projects. USA, Japan. France , Holland , now Germany and I-taly
labels and producers - Unity - Blackwheat - Black Redemption - Jah Works - Dub Creator - recent joint projects
Mighty Prophet from I-Taly and Musical Ben France, some tracks have been more popular than others. Red light. Roar, Farover. Further
Sipacup.. these ones have been played highly on sound systems . Other Movements I have moved from Leeds to South UK. closer to UK Players band
so the full band will soon return. and also the Hands&Hearts label package is now available. I have now began doing live shows with Ironworks dread,
Hopefully ini oneness Label will come soon. and mt first sole LP/CD too.

MP: HOW DO YOU GENERATE YOUR LYRICS?

IN: According to the vibes, I think every Rastafarian must have some words to say. after the teachings they recieve,
we could be giving praises. or chanting down the system that downpresses us. its a time to express what you feel deep within
with no apology even if it offends some. So i would say the words are written in your heart.
The words of Haile I Sellassie 1ST. and words from Prophecy, especially Psalms. all these are the inspiration.
surroundings also play a big part. the enviroment. the elements, creation. ups and downs. trials and tribulations ..
the source is the Teachings you get in life. Thanks to JAH



MP: NOW I'd like to talk about our recent collaboration so Tell me how "Over the waters" was born.

IN: Over the waters is to remind people. The Earth is a big place. we make the little district that we live and are raised in our homes,
so if your born in the city. away from all the beauties of creation. You never get to see how beautifull this whole earth really is.
All borders must be broken, we should be able to trod earth freely
as human beings, and the direction will come from the creator father if you ask. there is a place on earth where we can live together free.
we Jah people will make it happen. some upliftment for the masses.


MP: Yes Idren Natural very deep message in my opinion! Respect! Well, You have a particular style to sing your songs. Do you get inspiration from a particular artist?

IN: As a youth i would listen alot of Burning Spear, Bunny Wailer. Hugh Mundell , Barry Brown , Black Uhruh. Don Carlos. Junior Reid,
Willie Williams, Prince Fari. so most my influences have come from the old school

MP:  What do you think about the roots/dub scene in Uk and all around the world?

IN: It's been thru alot. i have seen it grow. from empty sessions.
So now it's so good to hear productions coming from 4 corners of the earth. 
I have found French Roots dub sessions are very well attended and other areas of Europe too. and Japan its taken off.
i also like to Thank Jah Shaka. for opening the doors. he is most definetly
the roots of this new wave. dub music
before we called it dub. its was Known as King David Music. Warrior Style, so ini must keep it Solomonic.
as the scene has grown it carries two sides.. the Dub side and the Roots Dub side, and from this even Dubstep has begun.
so we cant forget the Roots.. for real.
It can only get bigger and bigger, more sound systems are building and more studio productions happening,
It time for upliftment and this roots dub music surley gives that
all nations and ages in one arena. is a very nice scene to view, especially when everyone is dancing and happy
so it plays a big part in bringing a unity amongst one another

MIGHTY PROPHET: Introduce yourself to those who do not know you

WELL JAHDGMENT: My stage name is Well Jahdgment. I'm born italian and I live in Venice. I'm Moa Anbessa Italy's promoter, mc and chanter

M.P.: HOW DID YOU KNOW REGGAE MUSIC AND WHAT ABOUT YOUR MUSICAL BACKGROUND?

W.J.: I suppose as the most part of the reading people: listening to the Prophet Robert Nesta Marley. I had "Legend" from a friend of mine and my life changed in that moment.My musical background is various: i studied piano for 8 years, and i spent almost the same time listening to jazz music. My father used to play trumpet, and he was listening a lot of jazz but blues, old style r'n'b and soul, italian and american songwriters as well. So i used to listen all the greatest jazz musicians and stuff like Aretha Franklin, Fats Domino, Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, James Brown, De Andrè, Bob Dylan......

M.P.: HOW DID YOU BEGIN IN REGGAE BUSINESS?

W.J.: I started playing and singing reggae music with my own band at 16 y.o. on 1995. I did it for 6/7 years. Then InI created Moa Anbessa project on 2001. Things started getting really serious for Moa Anbessa when we worked for our first vinyl release on 2004. This is our mission, to spread our vibes and message to the world through our musical works

M.P.: WHAT'S YOUR TOUGHT ABOUT RASTAFARI AND HOW IMPORTANT IS IT IN REGGAE MUSIC FOR YOU?

W.J.: I think Rastafari movement is a fulfilling prophecy. It's a movement made by many entities and many communities. You can see rastaman all around the world, and you will find a black one here and a white one there. Robert Nest Marley told to the world through reggae music who the rastamen are, what they believe in and the values they fight for. And he did this through the words of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie as well. Supreme example of warrior against Babylon, against fascism and colonialism. Rastafari and reggae are indissoluble.

M.P.: TELL US ABOUT YOUR MUSICAL FEATURINGS AND COLLABORATIONS

W.J.: As singer I'm actually working for Moa Anbessa obviously, then with Ras Muffet for a song to be soon released, i'm also recording material for Neil Perch and other producers. Anyway since today, besides my singles on Moa Anbesa Italy 12inches, i released a 7'' with Ghetto City Prod. and one tune in combination with Prince David for Italian Dub Community Showcase vol.1. I also performed alongside many international artists as Moa Anbessa mc and promoter.

M.P.: Tell me the name of the song you love more

W.J.: I would tell you Paul Simon's "Graceland" and Thelonious Monk's "Pannonica"But if i think about...there're too manyWho is the most inspiring artist for you?I always liked Peter Tosh. As man and artist. Ruff and tuff you know! Compromise was not his style. In my opinion "Equal Rights" LP is one of the best reggae album ever.

M.P.: HOW DO YOU GENERATE YOUR LYRICS?

W.J.: Much easy: i write what i feel, what i see and what i live. I write about this world in this time, hold to ransom by a sick humanity going to self-destruction. Only Jah Rastafary can save us. But i think we do not deserve his mercy. I write about these things.

M.P.: TELL ME HOW "THINK" WAS BORN

W.J.: Very quickly to be honest. you sent me the riddim and it was done. There are tunes that take days or weeks of work, other tunes just come by themself, like a blessing. So it was about "Think". Lyrics are about emigration, poverty, slavery...this time you know. This society we're living in is painting immigration matter as an occidental necessity to mantain productivity levels which are taken as granted and correct. Politicians telling us we need strangers as man power you know. Them all suck! Them cover by gold on their chairs in the parliament. They should all burn in hell!

M.P.: DO YOU THINK THAT ROOTS AND DUB PHENOMENON IS GROWING FAST IN ITALY? HOW CAN "DUB.IT-Italian Dub Academy", WHICH YOU'RE ONE OF THE FOUNDER, HELP THE SCENE?

W.J.: Nowadays in Italy there are quite many crews dedicating themself to roots and dub music, they build their own sound systems, them have studios to produce their tracks...things are getting more and more professional nowadays in Italy. But I think Italians, in doing music, always had a inferiority complex. Usually Italians make music for Italians, not aiming to the rest of the world. I think Italian scene will step forward when many crews will compose their music with an international point of view. Actually very few Italian roots and dub producers are doing this. Then there's another problem: here in Italy music is considered as an hobby, or something to be done by people who have nothing better to do. The problem is that here in Italy you will often find this mentality amongst musicians also. I say we italian should risk a bit more, doing things in a professional way and try to make your music to be listened all around the world. Anyway, about italian roots and dub level, only other countries can judge it, countries like Uk or France.DUB IT - Italian Dub Academy's aim is gathering Italian crews and make them play together inside a national event, it can give more strength to all the scene for sure.

M.P.: DO YOU THINK IN THE LAST TWO YEARS THE "DUB FORUM", CREATED BY YOU, MADE ITALIAN DUB SCENE GROWING FAST?

W.J.: I cannot say this as i'm the founder, alongside Saltyman. Let other people say it. One thing is sure, Italian Dub Community did not exist before but now many people, from north to south Italy is in contact and many musical and human collaborations get started. I think we built foundations and now we're building walls all together. Anyway big news are soon coming for Italian Dub Community.

M.P.: TELL US YOUR PROJECTS FOR THE FUTURE

W.J.: My main project is to keep on producine and singing with Moa Anbessa, and promoting our releases and sessions as well. Soon I will be also on the mic alongside Ras Muffet for some gigs around Italy. Then, I hope some producer is going to release tunes I recorded for them. There's a big new project regarding Italian Dub Community also, it will take several months of work but I can say anything else at the moment.

M.P.:WHAT'S NEW ABOUT YOUR LABEL?

W.J.: Let say that i arrange all activities regarding our label "Moa Anbessa Italy", coordinating all the involved components: who compose music, the studio, all singers, who press our records and who distribute them. On beginning 2009 our new 10'' will be released. It will feature Prince David and DanI on vocals plus two dub versions. Later on 2009 we will produce our fourth 12'' which will feature all our stable' singers.
