..

..

FINALLY!  I can sleep again.  Yes, it's finished, it's uploaded, and
it's processed, all just in time to kick off the weekend with your
favorite requiem for a cooking show, Jrm Says..

Episode
II finds me once again in my cave, preparing tomatoes, mushrooms, and
eggplant for smoking (lucky me, I still have the rolling paper from the
Cheech & Chong "Big Bambu" vinyl) and eventually whip them all into
submissive spreads, concluding with an essential recipe for anyone who
loves working with dough (don't worry, it's an easy one), might just
have a pasta machine, and loves chips..  (hint: ever had the tostada
bites or the croutons at Z'tejas?)

So that's it.  roughly
three days of shooting, three days of sifting through over 256 clips of
footage totaling over 5hrs of material that I over the course of four
days edited down to the full 10 minute limit YouTube will allow.   I
will be honest, there were more than two nights I rode the editing
rollercoaster into the sunrise, and kept going.  I'm not sure what
creative G-spot this whole "film-making" process has poked in my brain,
but it's completely out of my control.  So if at any point in Episode
II you start feeling like you're watching Fear And Loathing In Las
Vegas or Requiem For A Dream, that's because your humble star,
director, and editor were all swimming in a warm pool of caffeine,
nicotine, and alcohol, completely beyond the realms of good taste, and
frankly, quite giddy with their newly discovered powers.

I had
more fun making this than I could possibly describe.  The silly little
dancing herbs might be the most amazingly ridiculous thing I've ever
constructed, and if I ever had a "Yeah God! Hi Five!" moment in my LIFE
(thank you Patton Oswalt, once again), that was truly it.

Yes, Episode II is my "Death Bed: The Bed That Eats People."

As
always, please rate, and throw me your unfiltered opinions, concerns,
and requests..   I listened to the people and cleaned up for this one.
Hair by Tami at Ulta.  She's fucking amazing.

Till the next episode,
Jrm

Friends, fans, valued confidants,

Jrm here. And the time has come for me to unveil my first attempt at creating a sort of mini cooking show. It's been several weeks in the making. Several long weeks, obsessing over the details, coping with Imovie HD crashes, and the occasional meltdown where I end up in the corner rocking back and forth whispering "Apple S! Apple S! You fucking idiot!" over and over...

But, it is finally finished. I am premiering the first episode on the WMMF youtube channel, but future episode will air on my youtube channel, RIGHT HERE.

So check it out. After picking through friends' lists of name suggestions for the show, while "The Enemy Of My Enemy Must Be Hungry" and "You'll Be Hungry When You're Done Masturbating," were tempting, I settled with "Jrm Says.." which leaves the door wide open for any of the titles recommended to me, like, "Jrm Says.. 'Keep Moving Or I Will Cook You,'" and "Jrm Says.. 'Bacon Is The New Black.'" Episode one, in the vein of keeping it simple and testing the waters is simply titled, "Jrm Says.. 'This One's Kind Of A 'Gimme,''" a simple walk-through on one of the best green chilis I've ever had, and a tip of the hat to anonymous Mexican who likely threw it together that cold wet Sunday afternoon at Hyde Park Bar and Grill back when I was a surly barrista next door at Dolce Vita...

All comments, questions, and even requests will be considered, and please, for my ego, feel free to express your approval via YouTube star ratings...

is it normal to spend this many unpaid hours on imovie HD? do I enjoy this? who the fuck am I doing this for? does anyone find these as funny as I do? am I going to drive myself completely fruity-toons if I keep at this? I'm asking. seriously...

anyway, here's the newest mutant child I've hacked together....
enjoy?

hi hi hi hi hi hi hi!
jrm here. and I've got the first installment of our west coast run with The Little Ones and The Other Lives converting for our YouTube Channel as I type...

it was a smooth run. so don't expect any of the sob stories or catastrophes of yore..

and even on the worst days, I woke up and eventually remembered, through the grumbling and cussing, that Obama is about to take the reins... and I cackled...

so here it is. hot off the press.

WMMF: West Coast Tour - Chapter I

Sound on the Sound: Right now, Free is the right price

For a limited time Barsuk Records is offering a five song EP from Austin band What Made Milwaukee Famous for free, through their website and through emusic. Yes, you heard that right. For the price of zero. Never one to turn down free, I will admit have downloaded and enjoyed this "Sugarhill Sessions" EP already myself.

Tonight us lucky ducks in Seattle also get a chance to see What Made Milwaukee Famous at our own Chop Suey with LA pop sensations the Little Ones and Oklahoma's Other Lives. It's one of the better Monday shows these parts have seen in a while and a show I'd highly recommend. The show however is not free and is $12 at the door.

Quarterlifeparty.com : What Made Milwaukee Famous offer EP for Free

What Made Milwaukee Famous' new EP, Sugarhill Sessions, is now available as a free download on emusic and barsuk.com until November 17th. As Barsuk explains "It's just five guys in a classic Texas studio with guitars, piano and simple percussion, performing their songs in one take. No bells, no whistles, no overdubs." Sounds intriguing.

Holidaymatinee : What Made Milwaukee Famous

For a limited time, Barsuk Records is offering a free download of What Made Milwaukee Famous' new five-song EP. How sweet is that?! You get 5 guys in a classic Texas studio with guitars, piano and simple percussion, performing their songs in one take. No bells, no whistles and no cost to you!

The Daily Rind: FREE MUSIC: What Made Milwaukee Famous EP

Earlier this year, Austin, Texas quintet What Made Milwaukee Famous bowed with their sophomore effort for Barsuk, What Doesn't Kill Us . Polished, energetic, forceful and impassioned, Spin rightly called the album "positively exuberant." But if dropping coin on convincing cominglings of indie, 70s power pop and modern rock radio isn't your thing, we have a felling WMMF have something else to convince you up their sleeves: FREE MUSIC! Nothing better, right? Last week, the band's SugarHill Sessions EP was made vailable via eMusic  and Barsuk.com , where its 100% free to download.

Called "the Abbey Road of the South", SugarHill is the oldest continually operating studio in Texas. Having played host to the likes of Lightnin' Hopkins, Johnny Bush, and Willie Nelson, SugarHill has been quietly contributing to the musical legacy of Texas for the past 67 years. Not a bad list, eh? The SugarHill Sessions EP offers listeners a chance to hear the pure heart of the music of What Made Milwaukee Famous — just 5 guys in a classic Texas studio with guitars, piano and simple percussion, performing their songs in one take. No bells, no whistles, no overdubs. And best of all, NO MONEY!

FREE EP : What Made Milwaukee Famous - SugarHill Sessions EP

But you gotta act now, cause it's only available until November 17th, at which point that whole coin-dropage thing becomes neccesary again. eMusic will have it from then on.  What Made Milwaukee Famous are about to take off on the road for a short run of West Coast dates. All of 'em after the jump.
