Hey Friends of 4TR MySpace!

This is Eric (soon to be former Bass player of 4 TIL RUIN) and just wanted you all to know that Feb. 7th will be my last show with the band.  The reason for this change is because I'm moving to Denver.  Wait...wait...wait...that's such a lame "un-rockstar" excuse...here is the real reason: I've been asked to leave the band because i got caught going all "Motley Crue" on one of the band member's grandma.  So here is what went down, I decided to do a little day drinking one afternoon and got pretty loaded.  I was driving back home...I mean walking back home and I passed by a Ponderosa and felt the urge for some chopped steak covered in gravy.  So I walk in and slap down full price change for this meal, when 4TR grandma comes up and says "I got it!" (yes, they only charged her the senior rate)  So we sit down and we talk, I cut her meat for her, and next thing you know we are heading back to her place for some more drinks (free booze, you would too).  Well she puts on some Sinatra, dims the light and next thing ya know were going at it like two dogs in heat.  Sweating, writhing, i'm humping this 'ol gray squirrel' like there's no tomorrow. In the middle of our passion grandma cries out "my hip!"  I jump off her and accidentally knock over a lit candle she uses to keep her bedroom warm because she is on limited income.  A fire breaks out and this sets off her alarm, but this is no cheapo smoke alarm it's one of those Life Alerts...where it calls emergency services and a next of kin.  My luck, next of kin is a member of the band who shows up promptly to catch me pants down trying to pry grandma's locked legs fully spread in the air into a less embarrassing position.  Needless the say there was a little yelling and then a few moments of "Borat" style wrestling before EMTs arrived...I grab my things and leave, few days later i get "the call" informing me I'm out of the band after our last gig.
So if you're interested in drama, and I know most Bay Cityan's are, come on down to Indian Barry's this Saturday and see if we can hold it together long enough to make it through the show.  Oh and SilverSpork and The Round will be there too - both great bands.

Seriously, it's been pretty fun ride, enjoyed meeting all the other bands and performing.   Thanks goes out to my family, friends and new friends for showing up to shows and putting up with all the practices and other crap that comes along with it.
Later,
Eric

A radio station in Arlington Texas (81X) has added us to their playlist. 4 TIL RUIN is on the radio!!! 81X learned about 4 TIL RUIN via our OurStage profile, they liked what they heard and asked us to submit some songs to their station. We gave them Lift A Finger, Transparent Concrete and Swollen Attitude. Check'em out at 81XROCKS.COM - maybe you will hear one of our songs! Note: 81X is web only radio station.
July 5, 2008 - Saturday

Just wanted you all to know that our song Lift a Finger finished in the top 10 of the Metal Category on Ourstage.com!  We competed against 350 bands and we are proud that we finished in the Top 10, 2nd in the Michigan region, 8th in the nation.

Ourstage.com is a world wide online battle of the band site, bands place select songs in various categories and compete for prizes such as: a slot on Bonnaroo, cash, contracts, slots for major recording artists, etc.

 4 ’Til Ruin - Nostalgia’s Shade

By Robert E. Martin

4 ’Til Ruin
is a heavily armed quartet of musical renegades consisting of Robert Seymore on guitars & vocals, Patrick West on bass guitar, Kevin Rowell on percussion and pianist/vocalist Shawn Shuart, who manages to shout out the verbal invective on ’Nostalgia’s Shade’ with passionate verocity that pushes the lyrical convent right into your face as if to say, ’Things may not be that great, but guess what... we’re not gonna take it anymore!"

Many of the tracks on this new release blast with indignant aggression at human nature gone out of control, as on the opener Selfish which follows connections between the narrow self-interest of individuals as well as nations, and the follow-up track, Transparent Concrete, which tracks a similar line on the topic of betrayal and the damage it can create.

Guitarist Seymore peppers this material with arching and broad sonic strokes, while the rhythm section of West and Rowell fits as tight as the locked barrel on a loaded machine gun, releasing powerful musical patterns that refuse to get sloppy.

Nicely fitted with a variety of musical hooks to ground the material and hang the weight of their signature upon, 4-Til Ruin broadens their musical tapestry significantly on Nostalgia’s Shade, as demonstrated on the poignant, quiet, and melodically peaceful closing track, Free, which features Shuart solo on an acoustic piano and vocals, and serves as a fitting conclusion, calming the listener after being propelled through the musically sonic storm that colors the bulk of the material.

With lyricist Kevin Gromada credited for half the songwriting credits, and singing back-ups on several tracks, the added evolution of musical texture and depth on 4 ’Til Ruin’s latest effort is apparent.

March 27, 2008 - Thursday

4 ’TIL RUIN is an aggressive, melodic and powerful indie-metal band who have recently delivered their new album Nostalgia’s Shade (2007) to online media outlets such as iTunes, Best Buy, and CD Baby.  This album is loaded with metal/melodic moments; from the jack hammer bridge in Transparent Concrete, to the buzz saw riffing in Lift a Finger-  the band offers the listener a glimpse into just how heavy they can be before stripping it all down with aggressive-like melody within the same song.   Recorded in Owosso, MI with Tim Houser, this album represents the band’s years of brotherhood/chemistry and the countless hours of practice/devotion to music.

The band has decades of musical experience as the majority of them been spent in a local favorite - Social Degeneration of Poets (Released the album Martyrdom in 1997).  Social Degeneration of Poets sold over a thousand albums, toured Michigan extensively, won several battles and received rave reviews and awards collectively and individually.

Meet the members of 4 ’TIL Ruin –

Shawn Shuart – Lead Vocals.   Shawn can wail. He can bring the growl, the scream, and the smooth vocals with ease.  Shawn’s vocal style has been compared to the lead singers of Live, and Soundgarden.   Shawn is truly respected in the local music scene.  Has opened for Anthrax (John Bush Era).

Shawn has fronted the following bands: Radical Jack, Social Degeneration of Poets, and Ratchet Jaw.

Robert Seymore – Guitar.  Rob has been playing guitar since he was 16. He idolizes Jimi Hendrix, he can probably tell you what the man had for breakfast in 1968.  Rob has been the primary songwriter in every band he was a member.  He is truly gifted at what he does.  We hope that he never sets the guitar down, but if he does we hope at his last show he will break out his frenzied version of Voodoo Child live.

Rob has played in the following bands: Radical Jack, Social Degeneration of Poets, and Kill Shot.

Kevin Rowell – Drums.  Kevin has been playing drums since he was 13.  He hits the skins harder than a Pimp hits his Ho (we don’t condone hitting women, it’s just a bad analogy).  Kevin is truly a fun drummer to watch.  He is the engine that drives this band.

Kevin has played in the following bands: Radical Jack, and Social Degeneration of Poets.

Eric Lomba – Bass.  Eric has been playing Guitar since he was 11.  He recently switched to bass.   He takes a real simplistic approach to bass playing, lock in with the drummer and don’t be too fancy.  A compliment to all the old school punk/thrash he grew up on as a kid.  He also enjoys all the discounted drink prices at the bar.

Eric has played in the following bands: The Atomic Cocktails, Eazly Sleazy, and Sinister Black.
