Before I even mention that Bilerico Project has been nominated for Best LGBT Blog, have you all seen those naked photos of Leonardo DiCaprio and Venus Williams? (Click to enlarge and get rid of the censor boxes!)  leonardo-dicaprio-nude.jpgvenuswilliams.jpg

Also too, do you remember how right-wing bloggers said that there was a video out there where Michelle Obama used the word "whitey"? Turns out they weren't racist SOBs - it's real. (via Kevin)

Yes, this is a joke. Thanks to sad pony guerilla girl for the idea.

Don't forget to vote for Bilerico Project in the 2008 Weblog Awards! We're obviously the best LGBT blog out there since we have so many diverse contributors.  Most of you are American, so you'll understand when I say "bigger is better."

The contributors on this site are great writers, the commenters help create a good discussion, and the editors do a lot of work to maintain this site. Voting Bilerico recognizes all of the work and thought we put into this project.

I learn new things all the time from the commenters and contributors, and I'm sure you do too.  What else do I have to do to get you to click this link?

We're a finalist for the 2008 Weblog Awards in the Best LGBT Blog category. The Weblog Awards are the 1 awards ceremony for blogs; it's an honor to be nominated for the second year in a row.

Last year we came in second place; out of 10,000 votes cast, we lost by a few votes. This year I want to win!!

How can you help as a Projector? Glad you asked!

1 - Tell your friends to vote for us. Send them an e-mail that lets them know we're up for an award on Bilerico Project. Link them to bilerico.com and ask them to visit and check us out. There is a link and graphic at the top of the page to vote for us all week in the middle column.

2 - Each day the Ed Team will post a new entry asking folks to vote for us. Post those entries to your Facebook page, Tweet it, or use any of the other social networking pages to help spread the word. Learn from Stonewall 2.0 and go grassroots!

3 - If you're a blogger, please post about our nomination and ask people to vote for us.

And, of course, vote for us! You can vote once every 24 hours, so be sure to return each day this week to cast your ballot.

The entire Bilerico family would appreciate your votes and your willingness to help promote Bilerico Project's nomination for Best LGBT Blog. We've worked our butts off to make TBP one of the top queer blogs in the nation and to highlight diverse voices from our community.

Thanks for all of the hard work you've put into Bilerico Project too. With your help, we can pull this off and get the recognition you all deserve. Let's pull out all the stops and take home the trophy!

Voting is open now and continues until Monday, January 12 at 5pm EST. Be sure to keep letting your friends and readers know about the contest until voting closes! And be sure to spread the request online!

Can you help us to cinch the win this year?

Yours,

Bil

Florida Red & Blue, the group behind the SayNo2 Campaign, has filed a complaint with the Florida Election Commission asking for an investigation of Florida Amendment 2 sponsor Florida4Marriage.org. They say the group has avoided disclosing donations, incorrectly informed voters of the source of advertising funding, and filed false or inaccurate campaign reports. They also say Florida4Marriage is improperly running television ads ahead of the Nov. 4 election. Florida Red & Blue has also requested criminal investigations by State Attorneys in jurisdictions where legal violations may have occurred.

Florida Red & Blue says that ads being run by the Florida4Marriage are actually being paid for by Florida Family Action- a separate, non-for-profit organization- to avoid disclosing the names of political donors. There is also a laundry list of apparent illegal activities by the supporters of Amendment 2.

Much, much more after the jump...

Updates including new video of Gen. Powell at the end of the post.

On Meet the Press moments ago Gen. Colin Powell crossed party lines to endorse Barack Obama for president. Gen. Powell ha advised the last three Republican presidents. This is amazing and follows the Obama campaign's announcement of its fundraising totals for September.

David Plouffe, Barack's campaign manager, reported the news to supporters via a special online video update. The average contribution was $86. The previous record was $66 million set by the Obama campaign in August. The total number of people that have contributed to the campaign is 3.1 million.

We've talked a lot here on Bilerico about the disgusting negative attacks coming from the McCain campaign and the right. Our community knows better than most how using inflammatory rhetoric that plays into bias and hate can cause very real and deadly consequences. And while McCain himself may have "backed off" slightly - he told a woman that Obama wasn't an "Arab" (he just pals around with terrorists) - Palin, his campaign surrogates, and campaign ads all continue to use the politics of fear.

That's why it should be no surprise that the racist fires they are stoking are now burning brightly for all to see.

Let's take a look at the disturbing atmosphere, including an explanation of the horrific ad you see here, after the jump.
