The Feng Shui Ninjas are back in the studio, recording tracks toward our as yet unnamed second album. We're really excited about the sound! We've written a tremendous amount of material since Garbage Pizza was released. Was that just eight months ago? Time flies!

Over the course of this year, the entity known as the Feng Shui Ninjas has grown ever greater than the sum of its parts. The band just does stuff seemingly without direction or control from any individual member. It's amazing to be part of it. Meanwhile, we've all grown as musicians as well as a band, and the new sound reflects that.

Of special interest is a recording just posted tonight, "Eponymous #1". This song just sort of wrote itself at a rehearsal one night, with lyrical and musical input from all four band members. We can't even tell you who wrote what line! The scratch recording heard here was made a mere hour and a half from when the first notes of the riff sprung from Dave's guitar, and it's pretty much the finished form of the song. Wow.

Another shining example of where we are now is "Horror Movie (demo)". The acoustic and electric guitars, vocals, and theremin synth were all tracked in first or second takes while Dave and Justin were still learning the song from Tami, and she had to read her own lyrics to get through. But the recording is amazing!

We don't know when we'll have the album done, or what it'll be called. But it'll be something else!

What's musical, radioactive and covered in cheese?
GARBAGE PIZZA!
Yes, the album has been released!
This album contains tracks anywhere from when the band was new and didn't even have a name yet, to when we became The Feng Shui Ninjas and Tami joined the, ranks. The musical styles range from Irish folk, to punk-rock heavy metal pirate music, and every where else in between. True to form, we of The Feng Shui Ninjas remain unpredictable and just crazy enough to be musicians!
We hope you enjoy the ingredients that have melded together and formed the entity that is Garbage Pizza!
                                          -Thanks

THE MARSCON 2009 DEMENTIA TRACK FUND RAISER CD/MP3 sets
With the exception of the Music Guest Of Honor, MarsCon can't afford cover the travel and hotel costs for the dozen or so comedy music acts that come from all across the country to perform at MarsCon. That is why for the past few years we have released a Fund Raiser CD set to help raise money to cover the lodging costs of our other out-of-town main stage dementia concert performers. This year's collection are all live recordings from the concerts performed at MarsCon 2008, featuring last year's Music Guests of Honor Hot Waffles, Paul & Storm, and many of the acts returning in 2009. There are 2 sets available in 2 different ways. There's the regular 2 CD set for $20 (which is 2 hours and 40 minutes of music, and comes with an instant MP3 download of the collection), and the DELUXE 3 CD set for $30 (which is 4 hours of music, and also comes with an instant MP3 download of the collection). We also have both albums available in MP3-download-only form as well, for $15 for the regular and $25 for the deluxe. Sales of this year's collection have been much slower than the past two year's collections, and we are still quite a ways away from our goal amount. Picking up a copy of this collection will help us pay for these act's hotel rooms, making it easier for them to come out to the Twin Cities and give it all for the MarsCon audience. So if you can afford it, please pick up a copy today. For track listings and to order, please go here:

Our webmistress Sara has also added a 'Donate' button to our website, in case anyone wanted to chip in any smaller amounts to help out the Dementia Track. Anything is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The last post reminded me... we're going to Marscon!  We've been invited to play a mainstage show as part of the Dementia Showcase track at Marscon 2009.  We're on at 4pm saturday afternoon (March 7), just before Music Guest of Honor Wally Pleasant.
We'll also be playing a full-length concert that same evening in the filker's room party, sponsored by Beth Kinderman and the Player Characters.  Also playing that night are the Player Characters, Toyboat, and others.  Marscon is terrific for musicians and fans, and you should definitely come.
