Saturday night was a really fun night. Suze and I went to an art show at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. The show is called Clowns!. There was an impressive list of artists like Shag and Gary Baseman and so many other great talents. I got to meet some nice people as well as catch up with some old friends, too...

With so many great artists in the show, it was a huge honor to be among them with my own piece titled "Hoborilla".

Hoborilla is based on one of my new characters named Franklin the Gorilla. Hoborilla is Franklin's hobo clown cousin who ran off and joined the circus when he was little. Hoborilla is a vinyl sculpture who stands at about 18" high. I constructed him with genuine Uniroyal Naugahyde. It's the same material I use to make all my wallets and handbags. I sewed him on my old trusty Singer sewing machine (more about my sewing machines in a later blog) that my mom had bought me from Price Club (now Costco) way back in the early 90's. It's an amazing machine and has always been there for me, helping me make many art pieces and accessory prototypes. Thanks again, mom!

You can still drop by the Corey Helford Gallery to see all the incredible art for yourself. The show will be up until November 29th so if you are in the L.A. area, please go check it out.

I'd like to give a special thank you to Suze for all her help, support and patience in the many, many hours Hoborilla took to make. I'd also like to thank Jan and Bruce for inviting me to be in their show.

Hi friends,

I am pleased to announce the release of some extra-special, limited edition t-shirts I designed for my buddies, Nat and Alex Wolff. Some of you may know them better for their hit Nickelodeon show "The Naked Brothers Band". I did these as a special item to mark the launch of their new online store at their website, www.natnalex.com. I really dig their show and I am totally supportive of young people devoting their lives to music.

As you may (or may not know), music was my first passion and I admire Nat and Alex for taking up their instruments at such an early age. It is refreshing to watch their show and to see the pure joy of friends playing music together. It reminds me in many ways of my own experience playing in a band with my friends. I started playing the guitar when I was about 14. My mom bought me my first electric guitar and from then on out I was totally consumed with music. I dropped my Legos and never looked back!

While the other kids were out doing things like sports and Dungeons & Dragons, I was in my living room trying to learn songs by The Go-Gos, Stray Cats and Dick Dale. I was very lucky to have such a supportive mom and I am forever grateful to her and my family for putting up with all the noise for so many years.

Music is, in many ways, my life. I never would have discovered fashion and design if not for my love of music. So when Nat and Alex called me up and asked me if I would do their t-shirts, I was totally up for it. They are great kids with scary talent so please go check out their site.

Hooray for music!

Hello friends!

Come check out the piece I painted for a group art show called The Grind. This is a collective art show where many artists including myself were asked to paint a blank skateboard deck which will be auctioned off to help raise money for the Swift-Cantrell public skate park being built in Kennesaw, Georgia.

For my piece I painted a new character. He is a Koshare, which is a Native American clown. Native American art is inspiring and I am fascinated by the Koshare.
