HOT SHOT PR is a subsidiary of our little company, House That Jack Built.  So think of it like the garage to the house.

This past week, Hot Shot rocked it out by partnering with the award-winning Australian group, Tripod!!!

In an attempt to bring American attention to the three brilliant and talented lads from the land down under, we are happy to announce a launch and relaunch of Tripod internet madness. Now there are many ways to keep up with the guys.  Try one!  Try them all!!

Here's what the guys wrote on their website:

Apparently being able to quote every line from "Tron" the movie doesn't actually qualify you as internet savvy any more. So we've decided to overhaul our operation and get one of them new fangled internets. All the following is now Live (the state of being, not the band). Some of it you may know about, some not. Bookmark it. Widget it. Watch it. Befriend it.

Now. Content. Apparently all we need is a fancy fandangled tricorder to make little movies and post them up, and then we'll be kickin it with Lily Ashton or whatever. On that: Apple, if you're out there, i know we've done gigs for Microsoft before but if you give us free iphones we promise we'll quote Really high the next time they call.

We hope you'll check it all out!!

More to come.......

The cool news starts here!

The house has been a buzz with major news, and fantastic excitement!!

On Sunday, two great things get started.

First, house member Bethany's radio show, "Southwest of Broadway", will feature Neil Bartram and Brian Hill -- the brilliant minds responsible for the short-lived Broadway show, "The Story of My Life".  This is the first in a two part interview that will conclude the following Sunday.

You can listen on-line at www.ksjd.org at 4pm(MST)/6pm(EST).

And if you're not already a fan, check it out on Facebook:  Southwest of Broadway Fan page.

Then,  Sunday also begins the filming of the improvised movie "Hitting The Nuts".  A poker movie written by Joe Boyd -- member of the "Q City Players" --the troupe house co-founder Christopher, is on, and co-founder Missy, coaches.

You can find out all about that at www.hittingthenuts.com.

There are several ways to follow the progress of the movie.  Take your pick.  :)

Twitter:  Hitting The Nuts -or- Hot Shot PR
Facebook: Hot Shot PR -or- House That Jack Built
MySpace: Hitting The Nuts

Then there's a few other things, but we aren't at liberty to say yet.  Just know, this stuff is HUGE too, and we'll fill you in when we're allowed.  Until then, you've got radio shows to listen to, and a poker movie to keep up with.

So has the weather been as weird where you live, as it is where we are?

May the Force be with you,

This coming Wednesday, March 4, 2009, HTJB's own co-founder Missy, will be one of the 20 women honored at the Leading Women of Cincinnati awards banquet.

Missy was nominated and won in the "Woman Against All Odds" category.
In 1995, Leading Women began with a mission to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the 19th amendment to the U.S. Constitution, establishing a woman’s right to vote. Accordingly, the Greater Cincinnati Women’s Network organized a small group of leaders from various women’s organizations in the Greater Cincinnati area. The goal was to bring visibility to Women’s History Month. Our first celebration honored 20 area women for their accomplishments and contributions to our community. Leading Women makes a $100 contribution in each honoree’s name to the nonprofit organization of her choice.

Missy has chosen to give her $100 donation to The Healing Center at the Vineyard Community Church in Sharonville, Ohio.

You can check out the festivities by going to:  www.leadingwomencincinnati.com.

Jack's House founders Chris and Missy, are also founding members of an improv troupe called the Queen City Players-- or the QCP.  And just announced today, the QCP are up for Best Comedy Troupe in Cincinnati!

And YOU can help them win!!

And vote for the Q City Players Improv Troupe as the best comedy troupe in CityBeat's Best of 2009 poll.  If you don't want to wade through all the other categories, then scroll down to the "Out and About" section, and look for "comedian or comedy troupe", and look for the Q City Players Improv Troupe.

Thanks so very much!!

How cool would it be if we WON?!?!?!?!

Working hard for the funny,

Hello Hello!

Happy August to each and every one of you, from each and every one of us!!  Tons of things are happening here at Jack's House, and even more continues to surprise and astonish us around here.

Bethany just finished a VERY successful run of "Chicago" with her theatre company.  Daniel's site is up:  www.danielsmyth.com.  And talk about awesome!  Check it out!  It's very chic!  Kev is in LA working hard for the money, and taking classes to keep his skills up.  We were very glad he came home to Cincy for a visit last month.  Missy is still teaching a lot of improv, and just finished teaching several camps.  It is now time for the teacher to become the student as she travels to study more improv techniques at the home of the late Paul Sills.  And Missy was asked to teach an adult improv class for the fall, at the two-time Tony Award winning Playhouse In The Park.  Brett is writing a boat load of music with his new group.  (Check them out in our favorite friends.)  Kelly continues to change the world of radio, landing interviews, and doing world-class investigative reporting, while Christopher is continuing his travels halfway across the world in India.  And as you read this, he will be on his way to Thailand.

Several months ago, Missy and Christopher had the opportunity to work on some commercials for their friend Kevin Rains--the owner of Center City Collison in Norwood, Ohio.  The first of the commercials are on YouTube now, and feature their very good friend and improv partner, Joe Boyd.  Check it out!  It's all improv-ed, and very funny if we do say so ourselves.  So if you're like us, and you've been watching nothing but "Dr. Horrible",  then take a look at this for a second.  Well actually, 27 seconds.

Other than that, guess not a lot's been going on.  What's new with you?

Usually, the HTJB blog is used to update the world wide web on what everyone in the house is up to, and shamelessly promote ourselves.

This one is no different.

If you are interested in each of us personally, the links below will provide you with that info.

Just so you know.....we're too cool for school.

Whenever I talk to a group of people about "generational profiling" --which I've been in meetings to do twice today-- I can't help but think of the really important things that shaped my life. Now I don't mean having Cancer a few times, or improv, or changing jobs, or becoming a writer, or nephews. No. I mean the REALLY important things....like "Joanie Loves Chachi", and Star Wars figures, and a Donny and Marie Lunchbox, and talking on the CB in my dad's orange Vega. I know who shot J.R., and the words "All Skate!" mean a lot to me. A LOT! See, "All skate!" meant that you were no more having to stand by the concession stand acting like you were enjoying talking to your friends, drinking your flat "pop", and eating your Willy Wonka Bottlecaps. The only reason to yell "All skate!" was because it meant the end of the "Couples Only" skate.

Unlike "getting pinned" for our parents, or hanging out in the van for the teenage generation ahead of us, the "couples only" skate was a courtship ritual that made you a better person. Getting pinned was a ceremony with singing Phi Mu Alphas, and the van with the peace sign on the side was just an equivalent to a basement or garage. I'm not belittling that. But holding hands with someone WHILE skating required skill. It was a relationship endurance test. And I still believe that the couple that skates together, stays together.

But what was I talking about......??

Oh yeah! The important stuff of life.

So tonight I visited a friend I haven't seen since last July. Since then, he and his wife have had a baby. And I thought... A baby born this year, will graduate high school in 2026.

What will his formative years look like?

Yes, the ecosystem is a mess, and there's a war going on, and evil abounds, and bla, bla, bla, bla, bla. But when he's almost 35, and sitting at home one night after work, will he be alone? And if so, will that be ok in society? Or will we be so tech savvy that when you wake up your computer, which at this point will be on your watch, or a microchip in your arm (a la the Bionic Woman--the first "fan club" I ever joined), will it be a camera so that the entire world gets to watch you all the time--so that at any point he can look at his arm and see someone staring up at him. This time it's his friends in LA (if it hasn't fallen into the ocean by then), and they want to know if he wants to come over for dinner. So he puts on his jet pack and heads over.

When he arrives he is welcomed at the door with a "Hey! Look what we found! These were at my grandma's house. She said they use to wear these and roll around on a wood floor while music was playing."

"My grandma had some too!" another chimes in. "Hers had an orange and black striped sarcastic cat on the side. And she put these fluffy ball things on the top of hers."

"What would they do then?" our jet-packing hero asks.

"Well apparently, there was a special place you could go, hang out with your friends, eat, and wear these all night."

"I read once that you could wear them on the sidewalks too. It would rough them up. Make them more stable."

"Wow", says jet-pack. "Did they have a good time....I mean just hanging out with their roughed up wheels?"

"Well," one says, as she types in to her arm the coordinates of the restaurant in Denver where they have reservations, "It's how my grandpa met my grandma........"

            Enjoy your All Skate!

Hey! Daniel here!

The past month has been pretty crazy. I've been busy getting ready to
open a photography business. So far I've done shoots with several
incredibly talented local musicians, HTJB's own Missy Whitis, and an
up and coming Improv Troupe, "Q City". More shoots are definitely on the
way. In addition to that, I have a book in the works about my trip to
India in the summer of 2006, and am currently booking a trip to Africa
as well.

I've got a web site launching soon but it's not up yet. I'm aiming for
March 17th. When it hits, it's going to be awesome.

I've also been rocking a daily photoblog for several months now. Check
it out at www.ISeeInColor.wordpress.com

If you're interested in hiring me, feel free to contact me through
HTJB or thru my photoblog.
