2008 saw a number of diverse artists swing open The Gate ... the likes of Dubbly, Ghostwood, Angus & Julia Stone, Goons of Doom, Kellie Marie, Mat McHugh (The Beautiful Girls), Bloomfield, V'vaars, Mesha, Julie Kember, The Protectors, Gerard Masters Band and many more ...
2007
Ian mixed Ash Grunwald's Album/DVD ‘Live from The Factory’.
The Beautiful Girls album ‘Ziggurats’ is released and comes in at No. 21 on the ARIA charts. The album receives many favourable reviews and is selected as a Triple J feature album. The single ‘I Thought About You’ has rotation on Triple J and NOVA nationally.
Rhys D Webb records Handasyd Williams’ second album ‘Dirt Road Reveries’
Ian steps up the work-load on Angus and Julia Stones’ album ‘A Book Like This’ - putting together a mobile studio at their Newport beach home to catch them in their natural environment. The album reaches No. 6 on the ARIA chart.
December saw Cog complete tracking on their album. After running out of time in the US due to touring commitments, they came in to The Gate to finish off vocals and guitars and other bits and pieces. The tracks were then sent back to the US for the final mix.
2006
Newcastle band The Common Code recorded tracks for their EP set for release late 06.
Early 06 sees Angus and Julia Stone release their debut EP. ‘Paper Aeroplane’ is added to the Triple J radio playlist on high rotation. We later get to working on the Album.
Dubbly recorded their debut EP ‘Take it Easy My Brother Charlie’ and later in the year got to work on their album ‘Styles’.
The Beautiful Girls album ‘Ziggurats’ is finished and Ian & Matt are off to LA for 2 weeks to mix the album with producer/engineer Mark Needham (The Killers, Fleetwood Mac, Thirsty Merc).
2005
The Fumes song ‘My Babylon’ gets picked up for high rotation on Triple J radio. They finish of an EP later in the year.
The Beautiful Girls latest album ‘We're Already Gone’ is released and finds its way straight to the top ten of the independent album charts. Soon after, they are nominated for an ARIA award for Best Blues & Roots Album. They are also nominated for a Triple J - J Award for best Australian Album 2005.
Late 05 ... surf punks Goons Of Doom take over the studio for a few weeks to record their album ‘Dead Barbie and the Ghost’ with production assistance from legendary guitarist Matt Strong (Custard).
2004
The Suitable Few kicked off recording an EP in May which was soon after released through Creative Vibes.
Death Mattel featuring members of The Drugs and Polystigma recorded some far out material with Ian.
September saw Goons of Doom bring their craziness to The Gate to start recording their post tour album.
Adelaide band, Seeds of Babylon were honoured with ‘South Australian album of the year’ which was produced and recorded by Ian here at Noisegate Studios in January.
SELF launch their EP - produced by Ian.
