One of Shill's former bosses in the newspaper biz says:

"I LOVE the CD. I've been cranking it up while I edit... Very nice -- not too hardcore for me. I think I detect traces of that folk thing you had going. And I have always been a huge fan of Southern rock. The lyrics, I might add, are stellar.... I want a ticket to the Grammy Awards..."

"That's the only time I've ever heard the word 'dissembling' in a rock song!!!"

Esteemed musicologist Charles Garret, practicing his mysterious musicology at the esteemed University of Michigan, had a chance encounter with our CD "in there somewhere" and this is what he has to say:

Shill's music comes across as familiar and accessible, but it's full of unpredictable, exciting moments, the kinds of musical and lyrical surprises that make you stop, listen, and wonder.  Just when you think there's no new way to write a love song, along comes "Pick a Fight, the album's first track, which captures all of the rush, banter, and torment, built on a pyramid of clever lyrical twists.  "You're Not the Same Enough" plays similar games with form, like a musical brainteaser that rocks and sways, shifting tempo on a dime while combining passion, humor, emotion, and raw energy.

Shill's music is equally tough to quantify or predict, because the album frequently shifts gears from stripped-down indie rock, without the ironic pretension, to barebones garage rock that evokes the early Who.  At its musical heart there's a rock and roll attitude yet one leavened by catchy melodies, earnest and impassioned vocals, an uncompromising lyrical wit, and a true love affair with the guitar.
