2nd VALLEY WORM FEST SET!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEThe 2nd Valley Worm Fest will be held Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 22nd through the 24th, 2008.  The three-day music festival – now a biannual event - will be held at the Sierra Grille, Strong Avenue on Thursday evening; the Elevens, Pleasant St. on Friday and Saturday nights. Both venues are located in Northampton, MAThe "Weekend Of Rock Music" will consist of three separate admission shows: Thursday at 10pm, Friday at 8pm, and Saturday at 8pm. Cost for each show is 5 dollars. Over 20 bands and artists will be participating.

The music festival is once again a benefit for Flywheel. Flywheel Arts Collective recently moved from its former location at 2 Holyoke Street in Easthampton into the historic old Town Hall Building on Main Street. Before they can reopen their doors, there are a series of building upgrades that need to be finished, including a new sprinkler system installation and remodeling of the new space.

Valley Worm Fest was started in 2007 by local musicians Jill Emmons, Jason Bourgeois, Scott Alden and Matthew Dube to bring together and showcase the wealth of local music talent in Western Massachusetts.  Co-founder Matthew Dube explains the reasons for holding the festival twice a year:  "We had such overwhelming support from the musicians and the community that we decided to present Worm Fest biannually. The great thing about this Spring's event is that there are no repeat bands. We made a conscientious decision to invite all new artists – if you played in the Fall, you were not eligible. With over twenty bands per festival, it's a testament to the amazing depth of talent in Western Mass. We are also excited to have inspired the long-awaited reunion of local favorites Hospital as well as the reemergence of indie hero Ken Mauiri playing songs from his Ribbon Candy catalog."

VWF will include the following acts: Cheater's Club, Cunhaband, Figments, Future Punk!, Eric Gaffney (Sebadoh), Haunt, Hospital, King Radio, Ella Longpre, Los Hijos Unicos, Lonesome Brothers, Lowercase Gs, National Carpet, The Others (The Thungs), Owiehops, Party Wolf, Ken Mauiri (Ribbon Candy), School for the Dead, So Very Small, Spouse, Tizzy, Trials and Tribulations & more!

1st ANNUAL VALLEY WORM FEST SET!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The 1st Annual Valley Worm Fest will be held Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 28th through the 30th, 2007.  The three day music festival will be held at the Eleven's, 140 Pleasant St. in Northampton, MA.  The "Weekend Of Rock Music" will consist of four separate admission shows: Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 3pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm. Cost for each show is 5 dollars, and weekend passes can be purchased at all Turn It Up! Locations (turnitup.com) for 15 dollars.  Over 30 bands and artists will be participating.

The music festival is a benefit for Flywheel.

Valley Worm Fest was started by local musicians Jill Emmons, Jason Bourgeois, Scott Alden and Matt Dube to bring together and showcase the wealth of local music talent in Western Massachusetts and beyond.  Co-founder and member of Bourgeois Heroes and the Novels Jason Bourgeois explains:  "I went to the Academy of Music with Brian Marchese not very long ago to watch a screening of D.A. Pennebaker's 'Monterey Pop' and thought, 'Why not try something like this on a Western Mass-esque scale?  There's tons of talent per square foot in my neighborhood.'  At the same time whilst watching the film, I was filled with absurd fantasies of wearing a large, furry hat and chatting on a telephone to accountants in a tiny office with someone like Michelle Phillips by my side.  This has yet to happen."

The festival will include acts such as: Abeja, Claudia Malibu, Josh Crane, Count Westwest, Curious Buddies, Fat Worm of Error, The Fawns, Zeke Fiddler, Levelette, Mark Mulcahy, The Novels, Philip Price (Winterpills), Mark Schwaber, Thane Thomsen (The Figments), Tumblecat Poof Poofy Poof and many more.
