moose, aka alaskahighway, will be performing as part of 'among the weeds' this saturday night at 'conflux nw 2009' - on stage around 8:30pm...  we'll be performing a full 45 minute set including a couple of new tracks - 1 from the debut album  & a cover you'd never dream of!!!

ever since anthony left alaskahighway to pursue his other dreams, including 'monastic', i have been working an another project called 'among the weeds'...

pulling many influences from other genre's, but not easily identifiable, i am extremely excited and proud to announce that among the weeds will be launching their debut album 'frail tin beauty' in portland on august 12th at the fez ballroom.  a great stage for a magical evening...  we also have a support band & local dj spinning tracks.

i know that a lot of you can't make it to the show (thanks for all the 'best wishes' messages to the among the weeds myspace)  but we are also proud to announce that the show is being video'd so hopefully there will be a lot to see shortly afterwards on video services like youtube.

be there if you can, otherwise stay tuned to see what you missed.

released this week is the 2nd installment of the electropop series of compilation cds, and alaskahighway are proud to be associated with this cd by having 'skyline' as the opening track...

the cd contains 13 euro-dance tracks, and features a special remix of a new track by robert marlow, famous for his 80s release 'the face of dorian grey', programmed by the legendary vince clarke.

OK, so yesterday i said i had 3 tracks to mix but i listened to the whole lot today & ended up (re)mixing 5 tracks wednesday, with one left for thursday.  The new mixes sound much better for some reason, i must be angry at something!

Anyways, the electropop.eu guys'n'gals love the extended version of 'skyline' i sent to them, so thats good news as there are several tracks on the album mixed in exactly the same way...  plus those darker ones i hinted at!  i love remixing in odd stuff...

Right, its late & i need to sleep if i am going to finish the mixes thursday.  I'm pretty clear what i want the cover artwork to be so will spend a few hours away from the studio space finishing that, then beginning the upload to CDBaby on friday.

I'll post information on how to get a 'real' copy of the album directly from us, but the album may be available on CDBaby for a few weeks before the physical album is printed.


So, its been a long wait hasn't it?  I'm glad to get the music finished but also glad that i've mixed the stuff when i felt like i should and not rush in to it...  Things happen for a reason!

ok, so i don't usually blog about stuff but i've been deluged with fans asking about 'closure'.   well, its very nearly finished - honest!

our immediate deadline was to get the 'electropop' extended remix of 'skyline' out of the door after the studio was rebuilt, and that has (literally) just been finished, so i now have 3 tracks to mix...  all the vocals have been recorded & edited but i will need to do some midi tweaking as we recently relocated to portland and ditched a few keyboards before we left.  i'm pretty sure we haven't lost anything important but funnier things have happened...

there will be a couple of darker remixes for your listening pleasure, so don't expect a totally 100% synth-pop album...  but the classic material heard at the last few shows will make it on to the album intact.  'skyline', 'the price of war', 'aesthetic' to name but 3...

yeah, we know its been a long wait but you'll be blown away by this album.  i am!

everyone involved in the alaskahighway project hopes that our fans had a safe christmas & new year.  this coming year will be full of hard work but something huge is about to happen!!

well, totally out of the blue, the US TV show 'Wheel Of Fortune' had 'Alaska Highway' as a answer to one of their prize puzzles, seeing as though its apparently 'Canada Week'... first time i've seen the show this week... so thats my excuse & i'm sticking to it!!

'closure' is nearly finished...

As a sneak preview for the 2nd album 'closure' i've decided to post some of the new mixes on myspace for you to hear.  These tracks will probably be the final mixes for the album...

To get the ball rolling i've just uploaded 'As You Are' which, in my opinion, is one of the best tracks on the album...  It still gives me goosebumps every time i hear it.

Also expect some harder remixes by Shadowmaker - these tracks will be available by the weekend.  Definitely some suprises are in store...!

the 2nd alaska highway album, now entitled 'closure', is finally entering the mix phase and will be released shortly. 11 tracks, plus 2 remixes, are slated for the release with special DJ mixes being made available pre-launch. the web site will be revamped too...

update : moose continues to work on the 'among the weeds' live shows & debut album 'frail tin beauty', with anthony working on 'monastic'...

hello to everyone who bothers to read these blogs, your support is appreciated! };-)

due to my increasingly busy schedule of working on 'among the weeds' material, the 2nd album (which was written before anthony left) has been put on hold indefinitely, and writing the 3rd album has stopped.

don't fret though as it will be released, probably some time next year, but my time needs to be spent mixing the 'weeds tracks for our upcoming shows in & around LA, and finishing the debut album mixes.  people who have heard the demo tracks have been blown away, so both rose & i are very up-beat about the release.

i may take breaks away from 'weeds mixing to do some limited alaskahighway remixes of album 2 tracks, so keep an eye on the mp3's listed on myspace and the official alaskahighway.com web site.  i'll probably post messages to everyone so you are all kept informed.

thank you for your continued support, and please check out the 'among the weeds' website & myspace area for my current programming work.
