We have super duper exciting news from SSDG HQ!

We excitable members of the disco gang are proud to announce that we our new EP is being released through the 2009 Wizard Rock EP of the Month Club!

Don’t tell me you don’t know about the Wizard Rock Ep of the Month Club? Dude it’s only the coolest most awesome club to be part of (right after the disco gang of course!)

Sign up for a year’s subscription and you get EPS sent to you throughout the year by new and established wizard rock bands, these songs are exclusive, they’ve never been heard by anyone before and they are being delivered straight to your door!

The Wizard Rock EP club is used to raise money and raise awareness for the The HP Alliance – a wonderful organisation that is a real life Dumbledore’s army looking to change the world we live in.

Our new songs are exclusive, you won’t be able to hear them anywhere but on this ep and the only way to get this cd is to sign up now to the wizard rock ep club. Head on over and sign up  sign up to receive our ep along with many other awesome bands.  A year’s subscription costs just $60 which is just $5 per cd, that is awesome!! Apart from hearing our top tunes, you’ll also get to hear exclusive songs by Harry and the Potters, The Whomping Willows, The Moaning Myrtles, Tonks and the Aurors, Peeved, Swish and Flick, Mary and the GrandPres, Danny Dementor, Riddle TM, MC Kreacher and another surprise band! Doesn’t this just sound like your punk rock dream come true? Isn’t this exactly how you pictured a disco at the shrieking shack to be like??

We are absolutely psyched to be part of this and are so thankful to Paul for getting us involved. It’s a great way to raise money for a wonderful organisation and also to spread the word of wizard wrock so that you can start disco gangs of your own

We will have a limited amount of EPs to sell that you will be able to find at some SSDG shows coming up this summer. Watch out for some summer fun in the UK 2009, somethings wrocking is a coming your way – more news coming soon...

But for the meantime please please please head over to subscribe to the wizard rock club. This is the reason we formed the Shrieking Shack Disco Gang, to be able to make fun bedroom pop music and share it with our friends. Come and join our disco gang!

Lots of love

P.S Gig News coming up!...

Thursday, January 22, 2009
I'm getting excited because super soon I will be boarding a coach from London to Liverpool to visit Hufflepuff Huw for the weekend. We will spend our time eating the most amount of bread and hummous that the human body is capable of, until one of us, or ideally both of us, suffers from what we call 'Bread Chest' where one feels as though they are having a heart attack from eating too much of the bread stuff.
Apart from that what else will we be doing... oh yes, recording new songs!! That's right, new SSDG songs will be wafting through the air in Liverpool tomorrow, it's an exciting time! This weekend will go down in history as the day that music was forever changed. Or the day that a new level of Bread Chest was invented. Either way we'll be proud.

It's the Ones Who've Cracked That The Light Shines Through

I reckon Accio Wrock was the whole point that me and Hol started up SSDG. I mean, to hang with such lovely people who, as a bonus, seem to like our music, don't get no better than that!

It was ace to meet up with Jess and Lauren and Amy and to stare in awe and Knockturn's beard and hear Riddle again and hear Luna Wants A Long Bottom for the first time.

It was also pretty darn ace to not make fools of ourselves onstage. I'm ever so proud know Holly and make music with her. She's aces isn't she!

So if that is our final gig, then I can't think of a better way to end it!

Lots of love wizards and witches and muggles and squibs!

Under-Appreciated Song of the Week

November 30th, 2007, posted by Lay

This week's pick came just in time. This band, Shrieking Shack Disco Gang, recently put this awesome song back on their page not too long ago called "Expecto Patronum." It is one of the greatest wrock songs out there, very catchy, fantastic all around. The vocals are amazing and with the fantastic music in the background it is just plain awesome. This song is about "thinking of something happy" and the lyrics go through happy thoughts that would help the spell become stronger. Some examples are "Malfoy falling down the stairs" and Harry "thinking of his first broom ride." It is an amazing song that you all should make sure to check out here. It is also downloadable so you can enjoy it whenever you need inspiration using the spell "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" "

Ooh, get us!

We had a lovely time in London last weekend, queueing our arses off at Borders on Oxford Street.

We gave out some Cds, I hope at least someone liked them.

We met some lovely people, including, an actual member of Dumbledores Army! I kid not. From the film I mean. Amazing.

On the news they said that around 2,500,000 million people bought the book in the first 48 hours of release. Which begs the question - what the hell was everyone else doing???!!!???!!!

We are so super psyched about Harry Potter, it's like Christmas except witha tinge of fear, it's like Halloween and Christmas combined.

These books are so amazing and have made us talk and read and think and make pop music and I can't believe it's coming to a close.

We will be in London tomorrow evening for the midnight release of the book at Waterstones. Come and find us and say hello, we will be giving out copies of our new cd to anyone who is around.

Also this is a plea for spoilers. If you have gossip or have glimpses of the book before anyone else please don't post them in bulletins or put them in blogs or post them on our comments page without a big gigantic warning, it's not nice. We are wanting to stay spoiler free until we have the book in our hands and even then we aren't interested in spoiling it for anyone else, so keep it quiet until we can all join in ok? We know you're excited, we're excited too,. I fear I may puke from excitment or lose control of all my bodily functions, but I'll make it, don't you worry.

Lots of love

We in the Shrieking Shack don't really like the films. They are rubbish really. Well, Azkaban was ok. I guess.

But Order of the Phoenix is AMAZING! It's proper hardcore. Its like the director really gets it and while he may have left out some bits that he really shouldn't (like Neville visiting his parents is St Mungo's and Petunia's Howler) what is in there is great.

I love Luna and Nigel Creevey and Tonks and even the Weasley twins were much better. Umbridge was awesome, super evil. Snape was perfect. And Lucius. Gawd - its great!

Shame that Hermione only acts with her eyebrows, but its still the Potter film I've been waiting for. A film to be proud of!

YIPEEEE!
