*sigh* where do I begin...he was about 20 mins late to the bowling alley. When he got there, his vibe was kind of REAL laid back. He was touchy feely but not annoying touchy feely. And he's kind of sexy so it was ok. Lol. Then when we got settled and decided to bowl, he was very blahzay and I was like um, ok we bowling or what? Lol. And he was just standing around (at this point I was like ok-this is gonna be an inneresting evening, might as well just roll with it.) So after looking at 6 EMPTY lanes he thought that the wait would be too long...lol. And I suggested a movie. So we went to howard hughes (in sep cars), decided on Nick and Norah's (was cute), BUT we had to wait an hour AND I ended paying for my tkt. Lol. We got some coffee and talked. He said he was 24...lol. AWESOME. Lol. He wanted to taste some of my coffee. to which grabbed my cup BUT before he could put it to his mouth, I said that i will get him another cup...dropping the old "you dont know where my mouth has been". And after chatting he revealed that he's an aspiring actor/model and hopes to finish school soon. Ugh. We finally go to the movie and we sit WAYYYYYY at the top! (I was NEVER one of these sitting at the top people...I like to sit amongst the common folk) lol. I asked for some water and this fool comes back with 2 CUPS of water. To which I joke and ask "if we're on a budget this week" he said he only has 40 beans this week. *sigh*, mmkay. After about 5 different, VERY uncomfortable sitting positions, the movie was over. He walked me to my car, hugged and went bye bye. You would THINK the story is over...but oh no! Lol. By now its 2am. As I'm driving home, I get a text msg. I know its him. I look at my phone and it reads..."What's up with you? Its BOB from VERIZON." HAAAAAAA. I guess he was on to the next girl. That my dear will be the last time I see "BOB from VERIZON". LOL
BE SURE TO TUNE IN!!!

Rap shit, "Livin' to Let Die"
[Chorus: Background singers] This morning, I woke up Feeling brand new and I jumped up Feeling my highs, and my lows In my soul, and my goals Just to stop smokin, and stop drinkin And I've been thinkin - I've got my reasons Just to get (by), just to get (by) Just to get (by), just to get (by)

Lauryn Hill's - Lost Ones
It's funny how money change a situation Miscommunication leads to complication My emancipation don't fit your equation I was on the humble, you - on every station Some wan' play young Lauryn like she dumb But remember not a game new under the sun Everything you did has already been done I know all the tricks from Bricks to Kingston My ting done made your kingdom wan' run Now understand L. Boogie's non violent But if a thing test me, run for mi gun Can't take a threat to mi newborn son L's been this way since creation A groupie call, you fall from temptation Now you wanna ball over separation Tarnish my image in your conversation Who you gon' scrimmage, like you the champion You might win some but you just lost one
You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one
Now, now how come your talk turn cold Gained the whole world for the price of your soul Tryin' to grab hold of what you can't control Now you're all floss, what a sight to behold Wisdom is better than silver and gold I was hopeless now I'm on Hope road Every man want to act like he's exempt When him need to get down on his knees and repent Can't slick talk on the day of judgement Your movement's similar to a serpent Tried to play straight, how your whole style bent? Consequence is no coincidence Hypocrites always want to play innocent Always want to take it to the full out extent Always want to make it seem like good intent Never want to face it when it's time for punishment I know that you don't wanna hear my opinion But there come many paths and you must choose one And if you don't change then the rain soon come See you might win some but you just lost one
You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you really lost one You just lost one, it's so silly how come
When it's all done did you really gain from What you done done, it's so silly how come You just lost one Now don't you understand man universal law What you throw out comes back to you, star Never underestimate those who you scar Cause karma, karma, karma comes back to you hard You can't hold God's people back that long The chain of Shatan wasn't made that strong Trying to pretend like your word is your bond But until you do right, all you do will go wrong Now some might mistake this for just a simple song And some don't know what they have 'til it's gone Now even when you're gone you can still be reborn And, from the night can arrive the sweet dawn Now, some might listen and some might shun And some may think that they've reached perfection If you look closely you'll see what you've become
Cause you might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you just lost one You might win some but you really lost one
You just lost one, it's so silly how come When it's all done did you really gain from What you done done, it so silly how come (repeat to end)
The Roots - What They Do
"What They Do" (feat. Raphael Saadiq)
[Chorus: Raphael Saadiq] Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do...
[Verse One] Yo, yo Lost generation, fast paced nation World population confront they frustration The principles of true hip-hop have been forsaken It's all contractual and about money makin Pretend-to-be cats don't seem to know they limitation Exact replication and false representation You wanna be a man, then stand your own To MC requires skills, I demand some shown I let the frauds keep frontin And roam like a celluar phone far from home Givin crowds what they wantin Offical hip-hop consumption, the 5th thumpin Keepin ya party jumpin with an original somethin Yo, I dedicate this to the one dimension-al No imagination, excuse for perpetration My man came over and said, "Yo we thought we heard you" Joke's on you; you heard a bitin-ass crew but um..
[Chorus: Raphael Saadiq] Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do...
[Verse Two] Thin is the line that run between love and hatred The game is ill-natured, it's nothing sacred Aiyyo, it's funny when I see some rap niggaz due to make it A few'll blow up, or go as far as they can take it My nine to five, is just to hit ya get the party live I'm Black Thought, used to rap for sport Now the rhymes sayin rent payin life support I take it very serious-ly, within this in-dustry It's various crews that try to touch me But I come with the beautiful things, and I bless the track plushly Around the world crowds love me, from doin tours Recepient of applause from all of you and yours Creator of original sounds to send to stores you take home, to absorb and sweat it out your pores Now who can stop the music runnin through these veins Infinitely go against the grain, that's why my motto's to..
[Chorus: Raphael Saadiq] Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do...
[Verse Three] Livin the life of limos and lights Airplanes and trains, short days and long nights Keyboards and mics, bass chords and drum kicks And my mental thick to hit my head like brick As I embark on a mission welcomin to the dark When I first spark the arts, when the listenin start Open your head wide, and let the Thought inside My style fortified by all of Philadel-phi I've dealt more stealth than all the wicked weal-thy Mentality undetectable by the naked eye Then I get paid when the record is played To put it short "I want it made" like Ed, nuff said Then after that, I'm puttin on my cousin Hamed We let the ladies blend with the darkskin thoroughbred and discover, my level is that of no other And Roots crew reign offical and true while I'm continuin to..
[Chorus: Raphael Saadiq] Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do... Never do....what they do, what they do, what they do...

Kanye West — And 50 Naked Women — Preview 808s And Heartbreak In L.A.
Published by Yasmine Richard on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at 4:55 pm.

About a week ago, word got out that Kanye West was having a listening party for his new album, 808s and Heartbreak, in L.A. Not much information was provided on the invite except the date (10.14.08), time (9 p.m.), location, an excerpt from one of the tracks, "Welcome To Heartbreak" — "My friends showed me pictures of his kids and all I could show him was pictures of my cribs" — and the fact that the event would be a collaboration with artist Vanessa Beecroft. So, a week later, the assignment of covering the event came to me. Lucky me!
As I got to the warehouse in which the event was held, was greeted by the sounds of A Tribe Called Quest … yay! As time went on, the celebs started rolling in: Besides Kanye, there was Rick Ross, Will.I.Am, L.A. Reid and the OTHER man of the night who could make both the crowd and music come to a halt: Jay-Z. As soon as Jay hit the spot, the crowd followed him and his entourage up the ramp and into a dark room filled with blue lights and, well …
If you're not familiar with Vanessa Beecroft's work, it's often large-scale performance art. And it often involves live female models — and they're often nude. Oh yes, Kanye West never fails to put on a show. So when we turned the corner to enter into the room, we were greeted by about 50 naked girls, standing in a dark room with a wall of light behind them. Needless to say, the music hadn't even started yet and folks were already buzzing about the night.
After about 10 minutes, the show began, kicking off with the intro, "Welcome to Heart Break," and carrying on through "Heartless," "Love Lockdown," "Robocop," "Anyway" and then "Streetlights." As each of the songs played, the naked women, the music and the choreographed, constantly changing light wall behind them drew listeners deeper into the album. Up next came "Say You Will", probably my favorite song on the album (I was just dumped, OK? So it hits home!). The album really feels like the cycles of a relationship, all its ups, downs, exciting and boring moments, etc. "Bad News" came next (the bassline kind of reminded me of Nina Simone's "See Line Woman") and next was probably the only song on the album that sounded like a traditional rap song: "Amazing," which features Young Jeezy. Lil Wayne guests on the following song, "Tell Everybody That You Know," but the tune really shows how much of a rock star Lil Wayne is. Last but not least was the song dedicated to Kanye's late mother, Donda, called "Coldest Winter." The album is laced with frustration, pain and heartbreak, all of which you hear loud and clear in the closing song.
808s & Heartbreak is a rock record, a hip-hop record, an R&B record, a pop record … everything.
When the show was over, the man of the hour appeared and introduced Beecroft to the wowed audience. After politely asking the crowd to be still, he addressed the crowd.
He said this album is very personal to him and that it comes from the heart. He recalled working with T-Pain on the record, saying what great energy he has, and also defended the use of the auto-tune that's a hallmark of so many of T-Pain's records. He also mentioned that when the first single off the album "Love Lockdown" hit iTunes, he was asked if it should be filed "rap" or "pop" — he opted for the latter, saying if it's popular music, why does it have to be labeled "rap"?
Kanye also encouraged those in attendance to "never lose their childhood," and reminded us that everyone is born with confidence, born with self-esteem and that society puts limits on who we are and what we can achieve.
