While writing a song I try to get a feeling or mood for it. I take a time in my life and write down how I felt during it. I feel each lyric I have written is a history of things that happened to me in my lifetime. I want people to take our songs and put their own history to them. If you have been down the roads I have been, this should be easy for you to put the parts of your life into the songs. Here is where I was coming from when I wrote the lyrics for each individual song and what they mean to me.
Song title: Mouthful of lies
Meaning – It reflects on my job and how every time some one opens there mouth they are lying. I wrote the song to tell people that it would be so much easier if they would just tell the truth. A key phrase in the song is "Wouldn't you like just telling the truth, that way you would have no more lies to stumble through"
Song title: It's me
Meaning – This song reflects on a very close friend of mine who once said I was a different person and that I had changed, I was not the same. I reflected on what she said as we grew apart and have found her to be right. I wrote the song because we both changed, everyone changes. That is life, at certain points in your life you think that this is how it will be forever and nothing will change. But it won't stay the same, because you are evolving as a person and tomorrow you are different than you were yesterday. A key phrase in the song is "Different signs I get, they're from my old friends, they are not who they used to be and they will not pretend"
Song title: Committed
Meaning – Throughout life you will have many people tell you that they will be with you through thick and thin. The reality is that most people will leave and you will have to deal with the emotions of those times and the types of thoughts that run through your head. It makes you who you are. This song is about keeping up with life's revolving door. A key Phrase in this song is "You did this you made me this way"
Song title: Turn Away
Meaning – Although times get tough and you don't know which way you should go, you should always pick the direction that is best for you. I focus myself and try to put myself in the position I need to be in to be a good human being. A key phrase in this song is "I struggle to be born again; I need the focus to turn away"
Song title: No need to worry
Meaning – I wrote this song as a reminder to my wife that I will always be there. Sometimes we argue and say things we may not mean but no matter what I will be there for her whenever she needs me. A key phrase in this song is "No need to worry, I'll be here tomorrow"
Song title: No one to blame
Meaning - This song is about a break up with a girl. The break up wasn't terrible; it was just the right thing to do. There was no chemistry between the 2 of us, it was just over. A key phrase in this song is "I can't feel the way you need me to"
Song title: Won't see me
Meaning – This is a song is a prequel to the song I'm Fine. It is about an ex who had found greener pastures (or so she thought) and I can vividly remember telling her that she was making a mistake and ruining a great thing for the wrong reasons.
A key phrase for this song is "When you wake up with those crying eyes you'll look, but you won't see me" Mitch Kirkpatrick and I collaborated on this song.
Song title: I'm Fine
Meaning – I really don't like to write mean spirited songs, but in this case I did. This would be the second part of the relationship equation between the songs "Won't see me and I'm Fine." This is where the ex realized it was a mistake to leave in the first place and tried hard to get back with me. I had already moved on and still had some ill will towards the way it went. A key phrase in this song is "Now you find yourself wanting me back, begging for my forgiveness and hoping I forget the past"
Song title: Standing
Meaning – It really comes down to my own issues of insecurity and being alone. As much as I want to talk like I am good to go by myself, I am not. A strong base makes me stronger. This song looks into my soul with prying intent and makes me realize I am strong, but stronger with my loved ones beside me. A key phrase in this song is "Don't you leave me here standing all by myself"
Song title: Remember
Meaning – This song is about losing someone to early in your life and way to early in theirs. No one knows how long they have on this earth and I am not sure anyone would really want to know the exact time they are going to die. This song is about the people and loved ones that left uexpectedly. It will hopefully help with the healing process a person has to go through when something this tragic occurs. A key phrase in this song is "Remember that I love you, remember my name. Remember that in the end we all walk the same"
Song title: Drown
Meaning - This song is about feeling like your world is coming to an end and there is nothing you can do about it. Life takes some crazy turns and puts you in situations that you can feel you aren't going to make it through. The truth is, most situations in your life are easily over come if you have a strong sense of self. You are stronger than you could ever imagine! Use it, don't shy away from it! A key phrase in this song is " I don't know if I can, save myself. It feels like I am drowning from the inside out"
Like I explained in the first paragraph, these are the feelings I get from the songs. Please feel free to interpret them however you wish. Hopefully this gives you a little insight into our songs and what our album will have to offer. I will post the lyrics to each song once the album is finished.
