Err, well... trying our best to cover one of their amazing songs, anyway.

Go download our cover of "Tautou" for free at absolutepunk.net

It's an early holidays present from your friendly neighbors, The Narrative.

Thanks for being awesome fans =)

No this isn't about sweet new The Narrative blankets... although that is a good idea now that I am thinking about snuggling in one.

I've been listening to our final mix of the cover song we just recorded... it sounds pretty sweet to me... I hope you all enjoy it.

Stay tuned

So I'm going to do my best to make old news seem as new as possible, and also deliver new news.  News.

We've seen a lot of this question:  "When will the record be done?" aka "When will we see a full length?!", "When are you guys going to get new songs?", and of course, "What the *@&^ is going on?!!!"

Ok.  We have 13 tracks we are happy with.  We want badly to deliver a record of 13 songs to you in a world of 10 song records, but it may be 10, 11, or 12 songs.  It depends on a few different things -- but in the end our main goal is to deliver to you what we feel is the best product, or in other terms, the most enjoyable to listen to record we can give you with these songs.

We have basically fully mixed 12 of these at this point.  Some minor tweaks in the works for those, but all in all we are happy with the way they sound.  We have one more song to mix which we have not really even begun to tackle yet.

After we mix, we'll shoot them off to mastering.

We're currently in the process of creating our artwork... I have to keep this pretty hush hush for now but I can tell you we're working with a very talented artist and the artwork is looking AMAZING.  It's really cool, and we're excited about it.  We have somewhere around 10 panels of art in the works right now, at varying degrees of doneness (is that a word?  I hope so, it's fun to say).

Other things on the table are:

Naming songs (we have maybe 3-4 songs that are in dire need of new names)
Sequencing the record (giving us all a headache due to the diversity of the tracks -- it seems this will be a very delicate process)
Naming the album (have a couple of maybes!)
Not driving ourselves insane (too late)

So, that's where we are with that.

We've been working pretty diligently on this album since we started recording in April... so 7 months later we're getting pretty close but also are getting really drained.  That being the case, you likely will not see any new shows added until we wrap this up -- or at least very few.  Sorry!  When we come back to it we'll be going into touring mode full force, and will have a bunch of new songs to play you..

Last but certainly not least, we're going to be helping our friends at Propllerhead (http://www.propellerheads.se/) launch their new product, "Record".  It seems like it's a pretty awesome home-recording option, so we're excited to start experimenting with it.  Look forward to some videos/blogs/tweets of us documenting our experience getting cozy with this software...

Oh, and Suzie has been cheating on us with a band/artist many of you probably know well.  So be on the lookout for her gorgeous voice SOMEWHERE ELSE...

P.S. for some reason myspace no longer is letting me choose the music I'm listening to, but I'm listening to Good Old War

Hey gang,

IN CASE YOU ARE NOT YET OUR FACEBOOK FRIEND (which you should be!), we've got the last 2 videos up of our very first vlog (did I term that right?) series here on myspace.  They're as embarrassing as the first 4, so enjoy.

Other than that, Myspace no longer allows direct purchasing from their site, so no more Paypal button to purchase our EP -- you will now have to go to our webstore at store.thenarrativemusic.com.  I suppose you can e-mail us as well, if you dare... and we'll send an invoice!

As for updates from us... we're still plugging away working on our record.  Mixes/mastering/art/layout are all under way to one degree or another... get excited.  DO IT!

What are you all up to today?  I'm sitting in my underwear in my room typing a myspace blog, looking out the window wondering why I'm still in my room in my underwear.  Also, listening to the new Imogen Heap record on her myspace.  Can I go back in time and change the word "underwear" to "skinnies"?  Nope?  Damn.

Add us on Facebook!!!!  http://www.facebook.com/thenarrativemusic

We're partying over there and it's not a party without all your friends.

Also, we're all on Twitter.  Suzie tweets (I did that right too, yea?) addictively, Charles and I not so much... I guess I feel kind of weird announcing my daily doings (that might have the wrong connotation) to what seems to be just another page on the Internet... maybe if people interacted with me I'd be more inclined to participate (hint hint... [I'm so lonely]).

Ok, off to do my daily doings.  Haha... rut roh.

hey everyone,

it's been a while since i've written a good long text blog (those video blogs kept me busy for a while!) so here i am, wednesday afternoon, bowl of cereal for lunch, listening to the graduate, a band who i somehow had not listened to ever up until a few days ago. i'm a fool. i can't help but feel a little sad that our tour with destry is over. we had an amazing time playing with those guys every night. we made some really cool friends all over the east coast and are trying to devise ways to get back to visiting all those people again very soon.

as you know, we've been working hard on our first full length :) it's still in the works on a bunch of levels and it will be a bit longer until we can really share it with you so in the meantime we've posted a demo of a song called "fade" - it's a song we've been playing live so those of you who have seen us may recognize it. it's also been streaming exclusively on absolutepunk for a while now. we've also added a few of our absolutepunk video blogs to our page. we'll keep these up for a little while and then switch them out for the newer ones (we don't want the myspace to take 10 years to load). hopefully soon, we'll have a brand new one!

in other news, our merch store has been acting rather cranky. we have a few orders that are going out today but apparently, it hasn't been taking any new ones. we're going to sort that out and we'll let everyone know when it's all good to go again.

EDIT: merch store is back up and running as of 7/9/2009! woo!

and finally - another thanks to everyone who helped us win the "artist of the month" for deli magazine. we actually are sharing the title since it was a such a close run. how's that for friendly competition? seriously though, everyone who was twittering like MADNESS, sending instant messages to people they hadn't talked to in 4 years, and mass mailing their families for additional votes, thank you, thank you, thank you. you know... we really hate contests because we hate bugging people to vote. but it's nice to know that if we're up against something, we can lean on you guys for support - and win :)

aside from all that - how are all of you doing? what are your plans for the summer? reading any good books? listening to any new music? please share!

Hey gals and guys, I hope you're all well!

We're lucky enough to have been nominated for The Deli Magazine's band of the month, but we need votes or we're going to lose!  And then we'll be losers!  AHHHHH!

So please head over to The Deli Magazine and vote for the band you love most in the poll! (hint: we are "The Narrative")

In other news, we've been mixing new songs and we're really excited about getting them done!

Oh, and the new Regina Spektor album is pretty sweet so far... I'm about 5 songs in.

Love,

Jesse

It's like a really awful soap opera.

In other news, I'm listening to the new Silversun Pickups album. It's pretty rocking thus far.
