Hello, my fellow VH1 adictees!
I apologize for not being on top of blogging here lately, but life has been insane the last month and a half.
However, I'm here now and have a LOT of catching up to do, so here goes:
Rock of Love: I think we all knew the producers wanted him to pick Jes. That always seems to be the way these shows go is that they pick who the producers want so that way there can be another season (and this is no exception). Still, it was a great show and I can't wait for season 2 and all the crazy skankiness that will ensue!
I Love NY 2: What can I say about these nutsos? The guys are insane (It? Where in the world did they find him?) I used to like Buddha, but now he seems kind of creepy. I'd root for Punk, but he doesn't stand a chance.
Smartest Model: I adore Ben Stein, but his brilliance is being wasted on this show in favor of featuring Mary Alice more than him. Booo! I'm hoping either Brett or Pickel win the whole thing because they are really the only two that can model and are somewhat smart. The others are either one or the other or just annoying. Thank goodness they got rid of Blonde Rachel. She was taking up way too much screentime and making my ears bleed.
The rest of the CelebReality shows right now are just eh. I am not really into any of them at the moment. I'm watching The Shot but I haven't recapped it on WatchingVH1.com as of yet because I just can't get into it enough to justify spending more than an hour on it. If you want me to recap it for the site, shoot me an email or a message and let me know.
Bring on the new Surreal Life and Celebrity Fit Club! I'm tired of these subpar realities.

Rock of Love is getting down to the nitty gritty and I'm ticked off at Bret Michaels. Once again, don't read any further if you don't want to be spoiled and haven't yet seen this weeks' shows.
Rock of Love--Alright, Lacey needs to GO. Everyone thinks so. The girls in the house, the Superfans, everyone. She's obviously there for her career or maybe the thrill of competition. I'm sad Sam left because I liked her, but she was not cut out for the rock star girlfriend role. I totally agree with Jes that Heather is INSANE for tattooing Bret's name on her neck. In fact, I agree with Jes on most things. I hope she wins, but it looks like Heather is going to walk away with the "prize". Maybe they'll give Jes her own show a la New York.
Hogan Knows Best--Not much to say about this episode except Nick's a whiner. They barely did any work. However, the practical jokes on Brooke with her bathroom and the deer head were pretty entertaining. It was fun to see them horseback riding as well. Good stuff.
I will write about The Pickup Artist and Mission: Man Band after I've seen their episodes :)

It's been awhile since I've posted my thoughts on CelebReality shows, so here goes. As always, if you haven't seen the shows yet this week, there may be spoilers in my commentary Rock of Love--Finally the girls are starting to fight back with Lacey. I was surprised it took them this long. I'm just glad to see it's all of them because Bret's head is as hard as that Rock of Love. What kind of "connection" does he have with Lacey besides music? And really, she's not that good at music. I was less than impressed with her in that song writing challenge. The photoshoot this week was an interesting challenge. Again, Lacey was super annoying taking credit for everything. I'm glad Jes got the solo date. She'd better win this thing. We're already down to 5. As long as Lacey doesn't win, I'll be okay with it. I'd prefer Heather doesn't win, either, but I wouldn't have to throw something at the TV like I would if Lacey wins. Hogan Knows Best--Brooke's new older boyfriend was hot. I do have to say, though, that 11 years between a 30 year old and a 19 year old is a huge difference. My mom WAS 15 years older than my dad, but I remember what I was like at 19 and what I'm like now near 30 and holy cow! It's a huge difference. Hulk's sneaky plan totally backfired, and that's good. If my dad had messed in my love life like that, I would have packed my stuff and moved out. Totally not cool. Scott Baio--Well, it's over and Scott is engaged (or is he? Where was the ring?) and going to be a dad. Who saw that coming? I sure didn't...but perhaps they did. It's almost as if the whole thing was concocted BECAUSE she was pregnant. I mean, they hadn't been together in 8 weeks, so she was at least 2 months along at that graduation ceremony. I suppose we'll find out in a month or so how far along she really was. She should be having the baby soon if the show was shot around the same time as Mission: Man Band was since Bryan's wife had her baby. That brings up another point. Has she been hiding out since that show was shot? Why were there no reports or sightings that said they saw her with her baby bump to give away the ending of the show? Hmmm...I suppose we'll find out in "Scott Baio is 46...and a Dad" Pickup Artist--That had to be the most awkward thing I've seen on TV in a long time. Some of those guys making out with the peaches and then trying to kiss Tara was just scary. I felt embarrassed for them! They all seem to be learning something, though, and getting a bit more confident, which is great. Pradeep just creeps me out, but I like the other guys. I do have to admit that Scott trying to open sets did make me cringe. He reminded me of people who are impersonating William Shatner and his halting speech. I think it's sweet these guys are so shy and even when the girls were practically throwing themselves at them, they didn't try to kiss the girls (I'm looking at you, Joe W.) Kosmo's reward was awesome and obviously worked. It pretty much proves that Mystery's method works for everyone if they just learn the technique. I am intrigued by the previews from next week of everyone crying at elimination, even Mystery. It makes me think that Joe D. is leaving us. I think he's the only one that all of them have really bonded with and he's such a nice guy that I think it would affect Mystery as well. However, I just don't get how he could ever go home before Pradeep (unless someone is stupid and chooses Pradeep as a wingman). I sure hope I'm wrong. Pradeep should go home next. The rest of them have proven they've learned at least part of the technique and have successfully applied it more than once. Mission: Man Band--Oh, dear. The boos were horrible and the morning DJs were worse. Miss Kate sure has a weird way of managing them. She gave them a song and expected them to perform it in less than three days in front of a crowd she knew would be hostile? Crazy. If you are going to throw them to the wolves like that, then at least get them in front of a crowd that would enjoy that type of music. Bolster their confidence before you make them look stupid. The whole "bonding" excuse she gave was pretty lame, too. You can't expect a group to gel in just 3 days together, no matter how professional they are or how often they've worked together or known each other. You could put these guys back together with their old groups in their prime and they wouldn't be able to throw a brand new song together in 3 days. I'm sure they won't fire her, though, even though the drama is building that way for next week. And more drama for Bryan? Give that poor guy a break!

Here is the obligatory warning about possible spoilers if you haven't seen the CelebReality shows this week--don't read any further!
Here are my current thoughts about the CelebReality shows to this point:
Rock of Love--It's getting down to the nitty gritty now. I'm getting rather tired of Lacey patting herself on the back when people get cut. She thinks she is the mastermind, but really I don't think she could get herself out of a paper bag if she had to. I did find it rather amusing that she got all defensive and whiny when the other girls wanted to write things down about her at the challenge this week.
My favorites continue to be Jes and Brandi. They are the least annoying, in my opinion. I can't say that I'll miss Magdalena calling everyone else a man. Even though that's pretty funny. Here's to hoping Bret starts listening to the girls as they tell him about Lacey next week.
Hogan Knows Best--Does anyone else find it disturbing that their marital problems haven't been discussed since the first episode? Are they still going to counseling? What's up with that. That trainer guy was totally rude. He was very disrespectful and I think Hulk was right to toss him out. Linda looks great, too!
Scott Baio is 45...and Single--Well, next week is the season finale! Can you believe it? He totally needed to get rid of Johnny V. How scripted was that first part, though, with the half naked girl and Johnny walking through the session? Yeah, totally fake. If you call this a "reality" show, please make it less scripted. This has been the worst show I've ever seen in that regard. It's a good thing that Scott Baio is somewhat charming and funny because otherwise it would suck horribly. I have no idea if he'll propose to Renee or not. Either, way, he probably gets a second season. If he proposes, we'll see him dealing with the whole impending wedding. If he doesn't, then he gets a dating show like Flavor Flav? Who knows.
Mission: Man Band--Since this was on early yesterday, I'm going to go ahead and talk about it. I like the song they are working on. The Producer seems to be a really good fit for them. I do think they were setting themselves up for disaster at the Magic game, though. They had 3 days to learn and practice and polish a song? That's crazy. Even amateur show choirs practice for weeks before actual shows. No kidding that Rich can't remember his words. That's hard to do that quickly. And they aren't easing back in by performing in like a mall or something? Brutal. I'm glad Chris made Bryan toss out the Jack Daniels. Let's hope he stays sober now.

I just had the best time doing phone interviews with Jeff Timmons, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Rich Cronin. I'm such a squealy fangirl, but that seemed to amuse them more than anything, so I guess that's good. I was so nervous, but they were all great to talk to and made it easy.
I need to polish up the podcasts and write the transcripts, but I will get them up over at WatchingVH1.com as soon as I can so you all can join in the fun as well.
They really are great guys. It was a boy band fan's dream! :)

Lots of stuff to talk about this week with all of the new (and existing) CelebReality shows. I'll comment on Mission: Man Band and The Rock Life tomorrow after I've seen and processed their premiere episodes. Afterall, I'll need something to do tomorrow morning to keep me busy so I don't go crazy waiting to interview the guys from Mission: Man Band :) So here we go with the commentary!
Rock of Love Well, we're down to 8 and I have to say I am surprised at this week's elimination ceremony. Rodeo obviously lost her mind and I don't think I could handle any more crying montages and talk about kids and rainbows. Seriously. Rainbows. In an uptempo rock song? Oy.
I am very thankful that Brandi C. is off my screen for good. Maybe my eardrums will heal now that she's not whining in her grating baby voice anymore. Ack.
So the "A-Team" is just down to Heather and Lacey now, but they are both pretty conniving. Nice try with the 4some, but it must not be what Bret's looking for in a steady relationship. I don't think those girls get that he can do that anytime with road groupies and he's looking for something else this time.
I think this is Jes's competition to lose now. Sam's trust issues will hurt her in the end, and I think Heather's partying and Lacey's evil streak will be the end for them. The others haven't really registered on the radar, either, so there is little hope for them (except maybe Brandi M. who has grown on me).
Hogan Knows Best Once again, no mention of divorce, although the tension was much more obvious this week with the constant makeover mode Linda was in. It was pretty tense with Hulk just trying to roll with it, but he was obviously annoyed and hurt. It was a fun episode, but the hair restoration place was a bit over the top. Hulk's look is a million dollar a year deal. You can't change that and expect him to continue to be "Hulk".
Scott Baio is 45...and Single Oh, dear. Now Scott may want to have kids? First of all, he's 45, so starting now will definitely be rough. I'm only 29 and my 4 year old runs circles around me. He also doesn't get that sarcasm doesn't work with pre-schoolers. I loved how he said "this is work" when he was helping the kids clean up. Uh, yeah, Scott. It's a 24/7 job to be a parent and it's something you can't act your way out of.
I did really like his interaction with Renee's daughter. It was sweet he was so protective of her when that guy was hitting on her in the store. My dad does that, so maybe he'd be a good dad afterall. He just needs to stick with the teenagers.
The Pickup Artist I was pleasantly surprised by this show. I was extremely skeptical at first, seeing as how I pretty much loathe any guy who thinks he can easily pickup women and is arrogant about it, but I think Mystery could be good for the contestants. Most of them just lack self confidence, and if they can learn that, they'll be fine. I wasn't too impressed with the insincerity of Mystery and his Wingmen as they were rolling from woman to woman in the club. They are a bit over the top for my tastes, but I can see why some women would be attracted to them. They just ooze confidence.
The contestants are interesting to say the least. I think Pradeep is going to absolutely drive me insane, but the other guys are pretty much okay, if not cringe worthy in their attempts to meet women. It will be interesting to see how these guys progress and what they learn.
(PS: I'm not actually reading Mystery's book, but I thought it would be fun to put it up here on my blog.)

As usual, if you haven't seen this week's episodes of Rock of Love, Hogan Knows Best or Scott Baio is 45...and Single, beware that there could be spoilers in this post so go away now :)
Are they gone? Good! Let's dish!
Rock of Love--Oh dear Lord this show is out of control. I really dig that Bret wanted them to enjoy something he's passionate about, but really, most of them had no business being on motocross bikes. The individual dates were interesting, but pretty much boring. Drama in the house is huge and it's almost always instigated by Lacey. She was one of my favorites first episode, but now she's just really annoying. She will stick around, though, I'm sure just for entertainment and ratings. Every show needs a villain. I liked how Rodeo just pinned her down to the stairs, though. That was a nice touch. At this point, I still like Jes and Sam, although she's a bit too innocent to be on this type of show. She doesn't like how Bret is dating and kissing all the other women. Has she NOT seen any of these dating type shows before? It's one big makeout session. I am intrigued by Mia simply because she's never really shown and Brandi M. is starting to grow on me. The rest of them are neither here nor there or they annoy me (I'm looking at you Brandi C!). It was pretty evident he would get rid of Dallas this week, and I always had the feeling that Kristia was only kept around because of her friendship with Brandi C. I have no idea how many he has to cut next week, but I'm thinking up to four. The next ones to go will most likely be Mia, maybe Brandi C., unfortuately Sam, and Erin. Of course, there is always the chance after Rodeo's breakdown that she could be booted for sanity reasons. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!
Hogan Knows Best--So I guess all of the marital problems and drama were able to be solved in last weeks' 1/2 hour episode since there wasn't even a hint of trouble or a mention of divorce this week. It's truly like a Brady Bunch episode. Anyway, Brooke is probably my least favorite of the family, so I wasn't too into this week's episode to find her a bodyguard. I do think she was pretty rude to Fred who was just doing his job the way Hulk told him. I hope they show us some interactions of Brooke and her new female bodyguard instead of just ignoring the whole incident like the marital problems.
Scott Baio--He's still celibate! Take that, Johnny V's wallet! He obviously did the right thing by giving the stripper some money and sending her on her way. It was also good to see Nicole Eggert, but I wonder if they realized the irony that Nicole became everything that Scott always dated (Playboy model, Baywatch babe, blonde, big boobs, etc.). It amazes me they never dated. Johnny V is a leech (and a bad actor) and needs to go away. It was also interesting that Scott figured out that he was finding huge faults with his perfect match on purpose. Maybe he's finally realizing what's wrong with him and why he's single. I'm excited to see Renee's daughter put the smack down on Scott next week. I hope he listens to her.

I watched the Rock of Love premiere last night with Bret Michaels. This show is a playboy magazine come to life...except these women are going to need a LOT of airbrushing. Heather is 32? REALLY? She looks closer to 50 to me. Some of these ladies just look used up.
Here's the problem. Most of the women even close to Bret's age look a bit...weathered? Most of the young ones are SO annoying. I couldn't believe the way some of them were acting with the whining and the pulling on Bret. This is going to be a long series that is going to make me want to puncture my eardrums with knitting needles.
That being said, I definitely have some favorites. I really liked Jes and Samantha. They both seemed very down to earth and intelligent. They also didn't seem like groupie sluts. I also liked the musician, Lacey, but it's almost as if she's trying to play that angle a little too hard. Rodeo, so far, looks like the best match for Bret. They have a lot in common (including it looks like their age) and she seems like a good stable relationship. I'm still undecided about Mia and Faith, but they at least annoyed me less than the rest of them.
The clips from the season look frenzied, so it will be interesting to see what turns up. I'm sure I'll have plenty to say about this show, and I'll post those thoughts right here.

So I just finished watching the premiere episode of "Scott Baio is 45...and Single". I'm a bit disappointed at how scripted this "reality" show seems to be. It's almost as if it's a calling card to get Scott some sort of role on a sitcom or a romantic comedy movie. There are the touching moments, the "off the cuff" comedy moments, and of course the deep conversations.
Don't get me wrong, I still really enjoyed the show, but I've always been a Scott Baio fan (I loved Charles in Charge growing up). I don't know if non-Scott Baio fans will be as entertained as I was. I realize most reality shows are somewhat scripted or manipulated, but this one just seems over the top.
***Small Spoiler Alert...do not continue reading if you have not seen the episode***
The meeting with his agent was particularly ridiculous. Hey! Let's go talk "alone" over here in this office with a window so the camera can see through the open blinds and let's keep our microphones on so they can hear every word we say! Also, there's a reason why the agent is an agent and not an actor himself. Enough said.
I did, however, enjoy the small penis comment by Erin Moran. That seemed to take Scott by surprise and threw him off guard a bit. I don't think that was in the script, and those are the types of moments I want to see.
