Hello All I have been very quiet of late i know. I wish i had a reason which i could pass off onto you but alas, i fail thee!! Well i am back in the UK now for those who do not know. I happy to be back making some music with the guys. Well its funny, you spend years as a self funded indie artist writing and recording music and then bang, your album is complete and bang people want more!!! which is great, i am delighted about that!! But the problem is, i am the most disorganised person in the world. I find it hard getting people together for a few beers never mind recording new material. Studio time, song structures, remembering lyrics! my head hurts. I just want to drink cups of tea! :) only kidding, its the best thing in the world!! But i am glad to say i do have material written and already in production with the fantastic Stuart. He plays keys and produced a few tracks off 'waiting for tomorrow' like 'show me your smile', 'unswept room', 'changes' and mercury falls. So far they are sounding good but not finished. So far we have been working on Great Intentions, Under The Sun, Right To Reply, Tiny Fires, The Break and Could I Be Your Lover. There are more, but those in particular are taking shape pretty well. On the Live front, we do have a couple of gigs coming up. On the 4th Feb i am playing in Preston at the mad ferret, London at monkey chews with Greg Holden on the 19th Feb. And a full band gig at the mad ferret on the 28th feb. So we will be playing pretty much all those new songs on those dates. There is also a possibility of some US dates in March or April Well thats all for now i. If i think of anything more i will drop another few lines! does anyone know how this twitter thing works ? is worth while ??? also i am playing a house gig this saturday in a secret location. Its a great idea, so if anyone wants me to play at their house then drop me a line and we can sort something out !! be good Sea x

hi folks
Just a quick one as i need a favour from you all! I have entered a competition run by the British TV network channel 4 and Mobile giants Orange. I could really do with a few votes from you. Bands and artists with the highest votes are chosen along with 24 other bands to go through to the heats. The big prize is a record deal with Universal records.
So that would be nice :) the link to register and vote is http://orangeunsignedact.co.uk/acts/seamus-mcloughlinvoting closes sunday 11.59 GMT
Many thanks

hi folks

Its unforgivable that its been so long since my last blog! So sorry about that!! Well there is not an awful lot to report other than i am writing to you from South Australia. I decided to come here to find some inspiration, some sun and of course write some new songs inbetween helping Kateo's brother Tom build his extension. Its huge! many of you know that i am builder/groundworker by trade so hopefully i am saving him some money. Last weekend we went to a cool beach house in Myponga on the south coast where we fished off the rocks and dranks some cold ones! Im not sure how long im here for but for now its all good and its a great spot and a very talented place too! lots of bands coming out of the city. Talking of which i have won the Exposure Music Award for best international artist which i am delighted about!! more news to come on that!

While i think of it, it would be really cool if you could all ask your friends to become a fan of my page. It will help me decide who gets back stage passes at Wembley one day !! :)http://www.facebook.com/pages/Seamus-McLoughlin-Band/6288654091628865409

I have a number of new songs in the works. Stuart who plays keys with me and produced alot of my album is working on some vocal tracks i laid down before i left. I trust him to do a fantastic job as he always does! besides i have the rest of the band to keep an eye on things :)

So some of you know i did a radio session at Abbey Road Studios in London for WorldSpace radio who broadcast out of Washington DC. It was so cool to play in such a historic place. Thanks to Julia Jones, Rich, Alex and James for sorting it all out for me. And to Mark my drummer for keeping me company in the car. (did you know it wasnt called Abbey Road untill the beatles recorded an album there and named it after the road outside? before that it was EMI studios! Everyday is a school day!)

I was in America for a few things recently too, mainly for SXSW in austin which was as always amazing. I saw some great bands including People in Planes who were brilliant and a band from LA called voxhall broadcast ( i might have the spelling wrong there), the wombats, White denim, and The Ting tings as wells as tonnes of others. I made some great friends too (hi conal and dean!). I met so many folk who were very cool, Duffy, Nathan from kings of Leon, Priscilla Ahn (awesome artist) Zane Lowe, Huw Stephens, and all the BBC Radio crew. I had a brilliant seafood dinner with Gruff Rhys of the SFA (such a nice guy). On one of the last days we had an awsome trip down in south Texas and stopped in a beautiful town called Gruene which holds the oldest dance hall in the lonestar state. We ended up line dancing with the locals mooching around the old shops! Conal found a newspaper from 1963 for $12 printed the afternoon JFK was shot dead! a pretty amazing find i think. After that we travelled to the Alamo which for me was very special having read a book on it while on tour in America last year. It is said to be the nations greatest last stand 200 men vs 5,000 mexicans. When the last american was captured its alleged he said to the mexican leader antonio lópez de santa anna "come with me now and i will make sure you and your men are treated as prisoners of war and treated fairly" Santa Anna then shrugged and chopped his head off..

Well im not sure what else to write! im heading to the pub this evening for some beers! perhaps that will help get the melodies flowing! Aussies have the right idea!!

cool beans

Well i should be in my bed! but i thought id pop on here to write some nonsense about me going to London to play some gigs. i just hope that some of you show up to say hello, buy me a beer, let me buy you some chips after! infact thats it. If anyone can say 'Seamus you owe me chips' i will buy you a chip butty supper after the gig you come to!! The ultimate test at weather or not anyone actually read these things!

I was reading Imogen Heap's before. I love the way she just rambles on. I thought i can do that too, so here i am. I spent the say cutting down trees in my brothers garden and smashing concrete from his garden path. tonight i had a red thai curry and watched tv!took a call from a friend and finished the second verse to a new song!

Hang on im boring myself now!! i'd better leave!

A songwriter who writes about real life and delivers them with a
conviction thats hard to ignore.

This is a songwriter who despite simple acoustic beginnings, is creating waves and building momentum like his songs, thanks to a unique voice, classic musical arrangements, poignant lyrics and great melodic hooks.

SEAMUS MCLOUGHLIN was born in the mid seventies in the North
West of England, brought up in a large Irish family, where music was always never far
away.

"All my family are musical in some way. I have two brothers who play drums and piano along with two sisters who play piano and guitar.

It all started while hitchhiking round Ireland one summer.
Guitar in hand playing to the shopping masses and hippies in and around towns and cities like Galway and Cork.
Thats where Seamus Mcloughlin really felt a buzz making a racket and writing songs.
That particular year he returned home to England to postpone his studies in photography to pursue his music career further.
Working on construction sites as a labourer to pay the bills, it gave the time and focus to put a band together.

Although his following is mainly in England, for a few years Seamus has been building a loyal following in America, quite often stopping on couches in New York City while playing the coffee houses and bars with the band. A tour also followed the CMJ conference last year that took him and his band to Chicago and as far south as Kentucky.

Seamus has also opened shows for the likes of THE ALARM in America and more recently to a 1,500 sold out audience at The Gathering in Llandudno, North Wales, in addition to the likes of Ocean Colour Scene, Reef, David Garza Kasey chambers and David Mead.
Last Fall Seamus was honoured to have been asked to open on several dates for DEAD MEN WALKING culminating in a capacity filled Shepherds Bush Empire in London.

"Playing live is something I have always enjoyed but Its also been great to have built up a loyal local following, as well an international one.
Use of the internet and word of mouth has allowed me to reach people all over the
world. Thats something I am very grateful for. Its good to get feedback from a person Ive never met from a place Ive never seen. Plus to get to play in New York to some hard people and to please the crowds has been an experience, but to actually tour so far from home has been just unreal"

Seamus has been locked away in a studio in the English countryside
recording some new tracks for what will be his soon to be released debut solo
album. 3 of these songs can be found on the MP3 section of this site.

"I am learning all the time as an artist in how to get the best out of
something especially when you think its not coming and the pressure is
on".

Recently he took part in the "Britbus Tour" of America. The tour took in several major cities right across the country, from LA to New York City. The use of the tour is to highlight British talent in the U.S.
Major artists already throwing their weight behind this project include James Blunt and the Magic Numbers.
