Dear KISS Army,
I am a writer for City Paper, and in honor of KISS' return to Pittsburgh, I've been asked to write a feature about KISS fans in the region -- how the legacy survives and what the band means to modern fans. If you're interested in discussing, I can be reached at

Sincerely,
Robert Isenberg

Hey KISS ARMY,

Check out this new book, KISS Army Worldwide: The Ultimate Fanzine Phenomenon

This new book chronicles the amazing phenomena of the History of KISS Fanzines.

It is packed with stories, pictures from the KISS archieves, art and fanzine covers from literally thousands of KISS Fanzines from the early 1970's all the way to the present.
Over 30 years of KISS fanzines.

You can order your copy by clicking HERE.

Among the fanzines is "KISS MASK", created by my friend Frank Hagan.  "KISS MASK" was published from 1988 to 1995. (page 78)

You can read Frank's KISS MASK WEBIZE at:
http://kissmaskwebzine.blogspot.com/

And look for the "ANIMALIZED" fanzine, published by my friend Tom Stewart from 1985-1987.  (page 75)

This book is definitely worth the price.

Order yours today!

Hey KISS ARMY, check this out!

Since this is the KISS Army PENNSYLVANIA CHAPTER, I am thrilled to add this bit of PA-related KISS info!

On a recent trip to the Jim Thorpe, PA area, we found ourselves in the STABIN MORYKIN Gallery.  Of course, diehard KISS fans will recognize the name VICTOR STABIN as the artist of KISS' "UNMASKED" album.

The artist himself gave a tour of the gallery, which features numerous examples of his vibrant artwork.

After the tour, I approached him as said "unless I am mistaken, you painted the cover of the KISS "UNMASKED" album.

Victor seemed suprised that knew it, he laughed, and then shared a few short stories about working on the project, back in 1980 when he was only 26 years old.

He mentioned that he had "just a few" of the original, un-creased promotional posters.  He laughed as he recalled that, at the time, they had given him so many copies that he didn't know what to do with them!  He chuckled and said "I used to wrap Christmas presents with them".

We went into his studio and he dug out a copy of the original album, which his wife had "bought a few years ago on eBay".

He went through the cover, pointing out details and talking about the individual frames.

He noted that, on the cover Peter Criss has both eyes open but, on the poster one eye is closed.  This change was made after the cover photo had been shot but before the poster was photographed.  He said that he was told that Peter had left the band, so he included the change to "give people something to talk about".

I purchased one of the rare posters from Victor and he autographed it to me.

He was very nice to me, spending time putting up with this KISS geek.

If you find yourself in the Jim Thorpe area, check out the gallery on West Broadway.  The gallery is connected to the FLOW restaurant and bar, featuring fresh and delicious food.

Check out this great pic of KISS ARMY PENNSYLVANIA State Representative Bob Brodsky with the one and only, original catman...PETER CRISS!

Peter was a guest at the CHILLER THEATRE EXPO this weekend in New Jersey.

Bob said that Peter "was in a great mood and took the time to really talk to the fans", as well as posing for photos and signing autographs for the steady stream of KISS diehards.

KISS WANTS YOU TO DO SOMETHING UNHOLY WITH A VIDEO CAMERA!

That was the headline in the August 1992 issue of RIP Magazine. The "UNHOLY VIDEO CONTEST" was sponsored by RIP, MTV, and Polygram Records to promote the release of the new KISS album, "REVENGE".

The grand prize included a guitar autographed by Paul Stanley, a bass autographed by Gene Simmons and MORE! So, of course, I recruited all of my friends and made this video.
KISS "UNHOLY VIDEO CONTEST" (1992)

In the end, it was good enough to win a third place prize....a REVENGE poster autographed by Gene, Paul, Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick.

This is from back in the tape-to-tape days....edited on a set of Panasonic AG-6500 decks, a Videonics Titlemaker, and a Panasonic WJ-AVE7.

NOTE: and obviously, KISS is NOT in it, but DON'T BE A HATER and give me a thumbs down because of that! HAHAHAHAHA

And here's my question....

WHO MADE THE WINNING VIDEO?!?!?!

With so many fans connected here on MySpace, SOMEBODY must know who won this contest. If any of you KISS fans made the winning video, post it because I have always wondered what took the top prize. And if you watch this, leave me a comment so I know that you were here!

Rock on.
