unfortunately, morning theft has decided to disband. we will no longer be performing together.

our decision to stop is an amicable one, and together we want to thank anyone that has come to our shows, anyone that has given us a listen, anyone that gave us a chance, our friends and our families.

you can hear pat performing in the new band silence the bird at http://www. myspace. com/silencethebird

you can hear dan performing the soundtrack to web episodes of "time dealer" at http://60frames. com/series/movie/MTg=

at this time, there are no plans for future shows. for some reason, piano's in NYC has us listed to perform on monday 5/26. that is not true.

again, thank you, and i hope that our music was good enough to keep you listening in the future.

hi

our new album, "between walls", is now downloadable for free on our home page, http://www.morningtheft.net

we worked for over a year on the record, recording and mixing most of it by ourselves in brooklyn, ny.  it is something we're incredibly proud of and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

to celebrate the new release, we are running a contest, the winner of which will be shipped a brand-new free nintendo wii.  three of us in the band are wii owners and we're very big fans of it, and we want to give one away to one lucky person who downloads the disc.  details can be found on our home page, http://www.morningtheft.net

thanks for your support.  please download the record, share it with your friends, and tell everyone about the wii contest.

the pixies tribute page has posted our cover of the song "ana."  head here to listen to it. make sure to pre-order a copy as well!

we're still finishing up our next record, which will be an internet-only release.  we have about 10 songs we're trying to finish up, with 8 or 9 probably making the final cut.  we're hoping for a september or october release.  we will also resume playing shows sometime in late july or early august, as soon as the album is completed and mixed.

thanks again for the support.

hi.

it's been a while since we updated with news of what we've been doing.

for the past few months, we've been locked away in a tiny room in brooklyn recording our next CD......err....well, it looks like the plan involves no CDs at all.

our next release will be an internet-only affair.  you're all technologically-savvy enough, and plus it relieves us of the duty to carry physical CDs all over the place.

it appears our new release will have something near 9 or 10 songs, depending on how many we finish.  we're looking at a late-summer release.

in the meantime, please head over to the iTunes music store and buy our first CD, "the news says it's raining in new york."  while it was released back in 2005, now's a perfect time to add it to your digital collection.

in other exciting news: we will be contributing a pixies cover to the "dig for fire: a tribute to the pixies" CD.  it's due for release on november 13 and features:

they might be giants
mogwai
OK go
british sea power
+ many others.

go here: http://www.myspace.com/pixiestribute  for more info on that.  needless to say, we're very happy to be part of the project.  we can't say what song we're doing yet, but can give the hint that it's off of "bossanova."  again, more details will be forthcoming.

we hope you are all doing well.  we hope to start playing shows again later in the summer, once we finish recording and get things squared away in our personal lives.

thanks again for the support!

hi everyone!

we wanted to wish all of our friends a happy holiday season. we also wanted to thank anyone that has come to a show, bought a CD, danced and sang or anyone that's even enjoyed listening to our streaming tracks. we appreciate the support over the past year.

while 2006 was pretty good to us, we're hoping 2007 is even better. we just tracked basics for our next CD, which we hope to release in one form or another next year. we have two songs that we recorded in boston (second skin, limb from limb) as well as the following 9 songs we've been recording ourselves in brooklyn.

a place to sleep / the fall / on end / body / cursed (i'm lost) / between walls / the guilt of being lucky / carnivore / killed by the sirens

in total, that's 11 new songs we've written and have begun recording. we're extremely excited and very happy with what we've accomplished so far.

while the process will still take some time, especially since we are taking a short break over the holidays, you will be able to hear most of these songs when we do a special show in NYC in late january. more info to come, but we can at least tell you it'll happen at the mercury lounge.

thanks again, and best wishes.

we just played two awesome shows, one in boston and one in hoboken.  we had an absolute blast at both, thanks to lively audience members and the fact that we got to try out a few new songs.

speaking of which, yes, we have new songs. for those of you that know us well, it's a big deal, as we've been playing only 10 songs (roughly) since the band's inception in early 2004.

we're now in the process of demo'ing more than 10 new songs in preparation for our first formal release since "the news says it's raining in new york" in march of 2005. aww yeah, we're more excited than barry & levon were with their $240 worth of puddin'.

the writing process is just about finished and we have a lot of material we're very happy with. in fact, we're so excited about it that you will have a chance to preview some of it.  over the course of recording, we'll be streaming demos of the new songs here on myspace.com as well as on our homepage, www.morningtheft.net

until we have finished demo'ing the songs and finished studio work on them, we will unfortunately be taking a break from playing out at venues. in the past, we've been thrown off course by playing shows during a recording session and it has killed momentum. we feel commited to getting this material on tape (or on hard drive, take your pick). hopefully we'll play a few shows by january or february, probably in our hometown new york city or elsewhere in the northeast.

again, thank you all who have come to our shows, danced and sang along to the words. we hope you will enjoy the new material just as much as the last CD.

Thank you very much to everyone who came out to our show at maxwell's. It was one of our best to date.
We'll be taking a break from live shows for a while so we can get some writing and recording done. Hopefully we can have a new full length cd out in early 2007.
Thank you for all of your continuing support.

so we posted a new song, "limb from limb," in our player.  it's not completed 100% yet but we're so excited about it we wanted it to be heard. hope you like it.

we also posted a bunch of videos on our myspace account, so underneath our little profile pic click on "videos" to check out some of them.

thanks again for listening/viewing.  we're really happy with the new material and hope you enjoy it too.
