Current mood:  dorky
Bonjour!
It is absolutely beautiful outside and that has put me in the absolute best mood today! I love love love rain and overcast days...but at the same time, fall is my favorite season...so if it's pouring down rain, it's a little hard to enjoy the outdoors! Running in the rain is a no-no for me.
I just thought I'd share with you guys some of the things that are going on!
First of all, I'm playing at a fundraiser this Saturday in Huntsville. It's to raise money for asperger's syndrome! There's going to be a ton of music! (here's a link with some information..... http://www.wlrh.org/Calendar/detail.asp?CalDateID=1488 )

The NEXT Saturday will be Making Merry in Berry Hill. It should be really fun! It's in Nashville's neighborhood/city of Berry Hill. It's a really neat area, with lots of restaurants, shops, everything. It's going to be a really good time!  (  http://www.nowplayingnashville.com/event/detail/162339 )

And LAST Saturday..I am on a roll with these Saturdays!...I played at an event called Bark in the Park. It was to raise money & awareness about pet adoption! There were the most precious pound puppies I've ever seen! I cried! I wanted to take three home!! It's such an amazing thing to adopt from local shelters! There are so many strays looking for good, loving homes! I encourage anyone looking for a companion to seriously consider it!

TONIGHT  bah bah bah bahhhh...I'm recording vocals on Work I think. I'm super excited about it! Like, I've issued a challenge to myself to consistently improve on every song. I'm throwing down the gauntlet on myself. We'll see how that turns out! hah. I started working with a vocal coach and I can already feel a difference just in the strength of my voice. It's exciting! :)
Sunday night I got to hear some rough mixes of my songs because we tracked the final guitars! I am so pumped! I was telling someone yesterday about this EP recording process. It's so different than the CD! With the CD we did everything kindof on a roll...there's nothing wrong with that....but I like getting to experience another method. I'm really digging this because even though it can seem like it's being drug out, at the same time it's like building blocks. We're doing everything step by step. And the more we go along, the more the creative juices get to flowing.
I know I've said it before, but this is an extremely personal record. I cannot wait until it's A. semi-finished so that I can hear it and B. COMPLETELY finished so YOU can hear it! :)

In a little while I'll be heading down to sign a guitar for UNA to auction! and the rest of the day I'm spending with my grandparents who are in town! yayy.

Oh my gosh you guys.

I have just had the most magical weekend of my life. I don't even know where to start but I'll try to describe it as best I can. BUT: I cannot guarantee that my description will be anywhere near as exciting as the actual weekend itself. But just go with me here. Okay? DEAL.

So, I was awake at 3:30 Saturday morning. Which, is more likely the time you'll find me getting to bed, not getting out. But there I was. Heath came to the house at 4:30 to go to the airport. So we all show up at the Muscle Shoals Regional Airport at like, 5 a.m. We then proceeded to get on a tiny plane and fly 45 minutes to ATL. Where we sat for an hour or so and made it to New York. After checking into the hotel etc. We went to Hamburger Heaven (none of us had eaten all day) FAO schwartz...and of course, the Apple Store.
Day Two- To be honest, it's all kind of a blur. I remember Breakfast at the hotel, resting, showering, and leaving for Arlene's Grocery early...I think like 3? After we all arrived, we loaded in and went through soundcheck with Howard the soundman. So cool. Then we all decided to get a pick-me-up. We were in the Lower east side, so I took them to one of my fave places...Sugar. They all got some ice cream and we sugared up. hah. Let me just say, there's nothing more beautiful than New York City in the fall. We went back to Arlene's Grocery and caught the last couple of songs of The O's. They were so good! And really nice guys. Then we got to play! Y'all, it was awesome. The show was so incredible and fun and just amazing. Afterward, we were so jazzed. It was great. We walked over to Ray's Pizza and ate some AMAZING pizza.

October 19th, I pretty much woke up pretty much feeling like I'd been hit by a bus.
But once again, I ate breakfast...went to Century 21 with Bebe and Pam. Ate lunch, rested, showered...met at 4:45 to walk to The Bitter End. wow. I still can't believe we played there. Like, it was the most surreal experience. We walked to the venue because it was in the Village. I took so many pictures along the way. hah. Then we got there, loaded in, went to dinner, and played. I met two really cool people that night. Josh Wise from the French Kicks. He's pretty much awesome. I cannot WAIT to go to a French Kicks show! And Marianna came to my show! She's from my town and I haven't ever met her! But she's living a super amazing life in New York and I'm so glad she came to the show! :)
After the show we were just on a high. (natural high...adrenaline high) We walked around the village and caught cabs back to the hotel. I crashed at 3 a.m. So you can imagine that the 7 a.m wake up call came much too soon for my taste.
We went to Katz Deli on the Lower East Side. It's historic. We walked around again and just had fun.
THe band had to leave after that and I went through some serious withdrawls. But tuesday night I went and checked out a bunch of other clubs. It was seriously amazing..I cannot wait to go back! :)

I am sure I didn't do an adequate job of describing this trip.

A video will be posted soon as well :)

How's everyone doing!?  Hope you're doing amazing!

I have been really busy lately! That's always a good thing! Band practice is so much fun. Everyone works really hard, but there are still so many laughs. The NYC shows are getting closer and closer ( 15 days...not that I'm counting) and we're all growing more and more excited! I hope that you will be able to come to the shows! (18th & 19th!) If not, maybe you know someone who can come? It's going to be a GREAT show! You won't regret it if you come!

speaking of shows..
I JUST added two new shows! One is a fundraiser for Aspergers Syndrome on November 7th & the other is in Berry Hill (Nashville) on November 14th!
Both are great events that I'm really excited to be apart of!

Still working on the EP! Doing some more vocals next week! EEE! So happy! This has become my child! I'm obsessed with it! It's going to be so smashing!

I REALLY want you, YES YOU, to come to a show! SO PLEASE! I'd love to see you! now...I have to get back to physics...although, I'm thinking I might watch a little Rachel Zoe Project instead...break time. hah.

& YES, I am in the TWEETiverse. Please FOLLOW me! :)

How's it going peeps?!
Well, I have been busy as a bee practicing and getting ready for a series or shows we have coming up. :) Last week I was in L.A. for some meetings and STUFF. It was AMAZING.

The pictures above are from the lovely Beverly Hills. I pretty much spent most of my time in either an office, the car or the hotel. Not too much "sight seeing" time. But that's okay..this was beyond cool for me.
I came home Monday and it was like going from Africa to Seattle. I mean it, I don't know what happened, but it has been a downpour almost everyday. I personally love the rain, it's a very creative atmosphere. To be sitting listening to rain fall and looking out my window. Awesome.

The EP is coming along nicely! My graphic designer and I have been emailing back and forth ideas etc. We haven't actually gotten together in person yet, ha. Darn those busy lifestyles. But it's all exciting! I cannot wait to show you all what I've been talking about for so long!

We have a private show on Thursday that I'm really jazzed about. It was my first "gig" ever booked! :) A lot has happened during that time! hah.

NYC is getting closer and closer. I'm so happy! It's going to be two nights of amazing music. Plus, it's NYC. Which is my favorite city in the United States. The energy in unrivaled.

I took this photo the last time I went to the Bitter End (January 2009). I thought, man...this place is crazy! This history is unbelievable! And yet, here I am...getting ready for a show. JENNY RAY, THE BITTER END!?!? YES.
Arlene's Grocery is also exhilarating because it's in one of my favorite areas of New York. It's an amazing venue, and I'm pumped.

I have been working on another video blog. Not quite ready yet though. I'll post it when it's complete!

Hey everyone!
It's so insane to think that it's September 11th, 2009. I will never forget that day 8 years ago, being in the fourth grade and seeing the attacks on television for the first time. It still moves me and I ask that you continue to pray for those affected on a personal level by the attacks. God Bless America.

On a much cheerier note, I recorded vocals for Ghosts on Monday night...dude, it sounds so sick! It's a really fun song to play live because in the chorus and turnarounds, it just feels HUGE. Like, I'm not even kidding, whenever I play it...I definitely pretend to be rocking out to like ten thousand people. I am BEYOND pleased with the way the songs for the EP are sounding. My producer & engineer are so good at what they do. I have had so much fun making this project and, here comes the cheesy line, I CANNOT WAIT TO LET YOU HEAR IT!

I cannot even imagine how fun it's going to be to have a hard copy in my hand, a digital copy on itunes, and the songs uploaded on myspace. Like, I'm freaking out just sitting here thinking about it. EKEKKKEEEEK. :)

I've been asked several times by people whether it's going to be the same as my previous cd. The answer is yes and no. Obviously it's not going to be the exact same sound and feel as the last one. It's a different stage of my life, different emotions from different events. I'm a serious believer in emotion, those who have met me definitely can agree with this.  When I hear music, I also want to feel it. I want to be that girl at a concert who's just rocking to herself, you know? Shaking my head doing all of the goofy, not necessarily graceful dance moves.  So I'm doing my best to convey the emotion & the dancey-ness (not a word!?) through the songs. But I'm not going to say too much yet, because it's not even finished and if I tell you everything right now, there's not much left for later! hah.

The photos for the EP from Amanda Chapman are unbelievable. Let me just tell you something. I am a very visual person, just look at my SAT scores in the 5th & 6th grade.(Theory time: The listening portion was created just to spite me. I'm sure many of you feel the same.) I can see it in my head, and I always do my best to transfer that image into actual real life. Sometimes people  can have trouble catching it. But NOT amanda. She nailed my thought right on the head. I literally was jumping up and down when I looked at the disc. I am so jazzed and it's been extremely difficult deciding between the photos what will go where. One sticks out in particular as the cover, but the rest is still being flipped around.   check it

Okay...So I honestly did not mean to make this entire blog entirely about my EP, that you all haven't even heard. I'm sorry. hah. But I'm just so darn excited! (Oh really, Jenny?!?)

If any of you live in the NYC area, you should REALLY consider coming to these shows, they're going to be BALLING. no, scratch that. They're going to be SHWEET.  (I feel so gooberish when I say Balling. Some people say it with authority, and that works.)

Hey guys!
So I've been in Vegas for the past week! Sorry I haven't been blogging! :/ My family and I haven't been on a serious vacation in a very long time and we just decided, it was time to get away. Truth be told, we probably wouldn't have gone but two members of my band were gone, so there you go. hah. We saw 5 shows, The donny & marie show, human nature, and THREE Cirque du Soleil shows! I AM OBSESSED with it! I loved "O" & "Love." Seriously guys, if you EVER have the chance to see either of those shows in an actualy theater designed for the show, DO IT! YOU will NOT regret!

on another note...
DUM DUM DUMMM DUMMMMMM (drom roll noise)

well, there are two things. ha.
FIRST- I am going into the studio on MONDAY to start my new EP. :)))))
I have been in the planning stages of this thing for a LONG time, so I haven't really been able to say too much, but NOW! I can tell you! YAY! It will have 5 new original songs. It's super exciting because these are songs that I either wrote by myself or cowrote and they're SO uber-ly (is that a word?!) personal. I just can't wait to actually be able to listen to a good recording! hah. I am being so meticulous down to every detail. We had the photoshoot about two weeks ago for the cover! I had a meeting today to see the pictures! They look amazing! I'm so jazzed! This whole entire thing is way too cool! I recorded some scratch vocals earlier today for a session Monday. It's just awesome.

And point TWO:

NEW YORK CITY, in October, will suddenly see an influx of Alabamians! WHOO! Yes, that's right.....
OCTOBER 18TH-8 P.M. ARLENE'S GROCERY
OCTOBER 19TH- 9:30 P.M. THE BITTER END
I'm SOOOOO EXCITED!!!! SERIOUSLY?!?! This is awesome. Unbelievable! Whooo....

and I guess there's a third thing...
I'm about to upload a BUNCH of pictures from all the shows this summer taken by Maggie Machtolff! <3

Hey guys!
So, I'm sitting in the condo, waiting....waiting..... The 12th& Porter Show is tonight...and basically, to put it in blunt terms, I'm beyond excited! We've been working super hard in practice, and there are a few new songs in the set! (YAY!) Plus, 12th & Porter is an amazing venue. It's my first time there...and I'm READY! I've been sitting here trying to decide on my makeup for tonight..imagine that, unable to make the decision. Really...I'm just trying to occupy my mind so that I don't like..physically explode. :D
Load in is at 6, and I have to get there early, so not too much longer.

I wrote a song with one of my cowriters Matt Johnson the other day...I also wrote with Jenn Schott a couple weeks ago.. lots of writing going on... :)

News: In the next few months, some exciting stuff is going to be happening! I don't really want to...spoil the surprise yet, but trust me...I've had LOTS to work on and think about. But that's really okay..because I'm going to face the music *no pun intended* I'm a PLANA HOLIC.. I plan everything way in advance.. Take, for instance, in 2004 my 6th grade best friend and I planned this extravagent summer idea. We were going to go to SeaWorld Adventure camp for a week, and then my parents were picking us up and we drove from Orlando to San Destin and spent the week at the beach...(heaven right?!). Now, I know it seems like that information was irrelevant...But the point was that I had my bags packed in like, early April when the trip was in the end of July. I LOVED figuring out what I needed to wear, take, everything. Plus, all of the random details.

ANyways, Thanks SO much for coming out to Turtle Point on Friday the 24th! It was the longest we've ever played...and it was really a great show! I loved being able to see my friends in the crowd...plus all the new people who heard our music! I sold a CD to a super sweet girl named Amelia. I was so thrilled!  ANyways, thank y'all SO much!

Well, it is now 4:57 p.m. and I need to leave at 5:10...
so the countdown begins!
If you're coming tonight (I HOPE! YOU NEED TO!) I think you'll love it! And I'll see you in a couple of hours...and if not, I hope your night is wondermous...

Hey guys!
I have missed blogging! I am so sorry, I get so behind!
Well today was a great day! I wrote with this really great writer named Jenn Schott. She's so much fun and we got a really great song out of it. It's happy, pretty and acoustic. Last night I had another rehearsal, and it went a little late...and I woke up really early. But today was worth it!
I am so exhausted right now. I'm going to get some sleep and then go running. After that I'm not really sure. But I just wanted to let you know how everythings going. I will try to blog again soon, maybe in better sentences! Like, maybe tonight! And there are pictures that will be up soon!

Friday we have a Handy show at Turtle Point at 7! PLEASE come if you're in the Florence area!
And the 31st, we have a Nashville show booked at 12th & porter! it's a Friday night show, I'm so excited!! It's going to be BEYOND AMAZING!
I hope you come out!

AMAZINGNESS.

I love my life at this very moment. I cannot explain. It's that feeling of knowing that you're doing exactly what you were meant to do. I feel so blessed to be able to follow my heart and chase my dreams like I am doing currently.

Obviously, I had a show last night. It was at this snazzy music venue called The Rutledge. It has some of the best BEST sound I've ever heard. PLaying there was beyond cool. We arrived there at about 6 15 for soundcheck and went on at 8. Thank you SOOOO much to those who came! I really appreciate the support! It means so much! ANyway, after the show was over, I went up to Lee (guitarist) and we just looked at each other and said, "that was the best we've ever played." Such a good feeling to actuallly SENSE the improvement. With each show and each rehearsal, we're growing more and more as a band. We're figuring things out and getting over the bumps in the road together. I love them so much. I ALMOST have their nicknames complete; but a couple of them are a little tricky to figure out. I will post pictures and make a video soon, but currently I'm in the condo in Nashville and I left my memory card/usb thingy at home...so not today.

Tonight I'm going to the listening room to hear a friend play.  It should be fun! I'm excited to go as a spectator! And today is literally the first day in a LONG time that I haven't been on a schedule, or time crunch, or a little bit stressed at least. It FEELS AMAZING!

I'm really feeling the need to go on a bit of a random spree here.
So here are a few things I'm currently obsessed with:
frasier! That show makes me laugh constantly. I have gotten one of my best friends HOOKED, we watch it every night. (9,9:30 or 11,11:30) Don't worry. I don't sit for two hours and watch it. I just mean I tivo it and catch up :) hah.
IMG models.com. I mean, You guys probably know I'm really into the fashion/modeling world (darn my shorter-ness) so I loveeee scoping out the models. That MIGHT sound weird, or stalkery, but I'm just so inspired by all the pictures. The girls are all so unique and beautiful, plus the photography is INSANE.
Oh, and Alexis Bledel. She's so gorgeous it makes me sick. I have a friend who actually has a lot of the same qualities.

I'm on a search online for some cool new music, so if you have any ideas...let me know. I'm about to investigate a band, white lies. I read they're opening up for Kings of Leon when they come to Nashville (totally going, thank you nat). So I'm going to do some scoping. I also need some new nail polish...

ALrighty, I'll post some pictures ASAP. same with the video footage.
OH and if you haven't already seen the video in my about me, you should watch it. It's of the performance last night! OR watch it here

Oh I feel so behind! I'm sorry it's taken me a while to blog...I had a little personal family tragedy. Everything is much better now, but it's been a little off. I haven't been slacking in my music though...still writing everyday and practicing etc. It's really fun because I am taking a photoshop class at school and I've actually put it to good use! I mean, who would have thought that a SCHOOL SUBJECT would be put to good use?! Wow. But Really, it's fun!! I'm obsessed. I make flyers and email alerts. awesome.

Yesterday was the Keller festival. I've gone since I was a little kid. my mom would always take me and we'd browse the art booths and all of the vendors. Plus, what summer festivity is ever EVER complete in Alabama heat with no snowcone?!!? Seriously. But anways, I played yesterday. The band, wow, they were troopers. I even told Heath and Daniel to take off their vests if they wanted to and they said no. I was impressed. And I saw my front row of cheerleaders (aka my best friends).  It was INSANELY hot, so I really appreciate those who stuck around! It was a fun show! Then I proceeded to sit in front of a fan for about twenty minutes.  But really I was super excited because I've never been asked to be a part of it before. So much fun!!

So other big news:

NOALA came out!! YAY! I'll post two pictures that I took OF the pictures (lame, I knowhah)
But it will give you a little teaser so to speak. THe magazine is SO cool. I love the guys that put it together (www.atsa-usa.com). Like literally, they're SOO nice! PLus their work is incredible. And I have to give major props to the photographer, Danny Mitchell! I LOVED all of the pictures he took!
Here are a couple of shots:

And by the way... DON'T FORGET!
Wednesday June 1st, the Rutledge, 8 p.m. 18+ show! PLEASE PLEASE  come! It will be amazing! I promise! I really look forward to seeing you there! :)

I'm a workaholic. I need help. hah.
The week ahead will be really fun, so I'll keep you guys posted :)

Stay cool.  (hah. Pun)
