DOKKEN STRIKES AGAIN

The Band’s Rhino Debut Marks a Stunning Return to Classic Form That Stands Up Against Dokken’s Past Multi-Platinum Successes

First Album in Four Years Features 12 Brand New Tracks Including "Standing On The Outside," "Oasis," and "Heart To Stone"

Available May 13 from Rhino

LOS ANGELES -- Singer Don Dokken says he set out to prove something with Dokken’s tenth studio album, LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN. Taking its title from a track on the band’s 1985 classic Under Lock & Key, the new songs bring the group’s sound full circle. "It’s time that a band from our era did something special and proved that our brand of music is still valid," he says. "Our goal was to create an album that was our best since our heyday."

Dokken returns to the band’s roots for its Rhino debut, LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN. The album will be available May 13 at all physical retail outlets and www.rhino.com for a suggested list price $18.98. The album will also be available at all digital retailers for a suggested price of $9.99. Anyone who preorders the album at rhino.com prior to release date will receive an exclusive poster autographed by Don Dokken with their order. For more information, go to www.rhino.com/dokken.

Mixed by Wyn Davis (Dio, Great White), the album features Don Dokken (vocals), Mick Brown (drums), Jon Levin (guitar) and Barry Sparks (bass).

LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN contains 14 tracks, including the breakout tracks, "Standing On The Outside," "Oasis," and "Heart To Stone." The album captures the signature mix of barbed-wire riffs and razor-sharp melodies that made Dokken one of the most dominant creative and commercial forces in the world of melodic hard rock.

The band got its start on Los Angeles’ legendary hard rock scene in the early ’80s before going on to become one of the era’s most enduring and successful artists. With its 1983 debut, Breaking The Chains, the band launched an unforgettable run of classic, multi-platinum albums, including Tooth And Nail (1984), Under Lock And Key (1985) and Back For The Attack (1987).

Dokken helped define the genre with unforgettable smash hits like "Breaking The Chains", "Alone Again," "Just Got Lucky," "Into the Fire," "In My Dreams", and "Dream Warriors". Not only a staple on radio and MTV, Dokken was also one of the decade’s most explosive live acts, rocking stadiums and playing to millions of fans around the world. On the verge of superstardom, Dokken broke up in 1989.

Since the band re-formed in 1995 to record Dysfunctional, the quartet has released several albums including Erase The Slate (1999), Long Way Home

(2002) and Hell To Pay (2004). LIGHTNING STRIKES AGAIN marks a definitive return to Dokken’s classic sound. "It’s taken a long time to realize our vision for this new album, but I think when fans hear it, they’ll understand why. This music is as good as any we did in the ’80s."

Hi everybody, the boys and I are currently in the studio working on "Lightening Strikes Again"and it should be out sometime in September. We will be playing various festivals this summer and we all hope you will make it to one of our shows in your area. I will post our tour dates as soon as they are confirmed. For those of you that have picked up our 1981 Live CD I hope you like it. I think it's pretty cool and very punchy sounding considering it was recorded a zillion years ago. Also our "Unchain the Night" video is now out on DVD with three bonus videos as well as Mick and I doing commentary. Our commentary is pretty funny to watch. Mick was really on a roll that day. We will be going on tour in Europe in September and I will be posting those dates soon. I've been seeing a few blogs on the Internet lately that I got married, and although I do live with my girlfriend, neither one of us are fans of traditional marriage. So stop congratulating me!

About mick. The rumors are FALSE!

No mick did not leave,, he's touring with nugent this summer like he's done for 2 summers now
he's coming into town tomorrow to start recording with us, he likes to play and when were not he goes out with uncle Ted
so that's it he's still in Dokken, hes just trying to make a living.

Also, I'll be the guest D J for an hour on this station.
Metal Express Radio ... it will be Friday, the 20th at 3 pm and 9 pm Central European Time (6 am and noon California time).

DOKKEN ruled the charts and airwaves in the '80s with a trio of platinum albums powered by an unforgettable mix of metal and melody. The band is currently in the studio recording their ninth album, and first for Rhino Records, "Lighting Strikes Again", set for release this summer. In anticipation of their new album, Rhino revisits the quartet's early days with a pair of releases packed with unissued material.

The first release, a CD entitled "From Conception: Live 1981", captures DOKKEN in an early, previously unseen concert recorded before the band signed with Elektra. The second release is the DVD debut of the band's first home video, the platinum-certified "Unchain The Night", which is expanded with unreleased videos and new extended interviews with the band. Each will be available separately on March 13. The CD will be offered at regular physical retail outlets for a suggested list price of $18.98 and at all digital retail outlets for a suggested list price of $9.99. Additionally, there will be an exclusive iTunes version featuring a video interview with the band available for $11.99. The DVD will be available at all regular retail outlets for a suggested list price of $14.99. Both will also be available at www.rhino.com.

"From Conception" finds singer Don Dokken, guitarist George Lynch, drummer Mick Brown, and bassist Jeff Pilson ripping through 10 unreleased live performances of several songs that were eventually recorded for the band's debut album, "Breaking The Chains", including "Live To Rock (Rock To Live)", "Night Rider", the album's title track and "Paris", a showcase for Lynch's formidable guitar heroics. The live disc also contains three previously unreleased songs that were excluded from their debut album because the label did not feel they were commercial enough at the time: "Goin' Down", "Hit And Run", and "Liar".

When DOKKEN released the home video "Unchain The Night" in 1985, the band was touring for its second platinum album, "Under Lock And Key". The original VHS release contained on- and off-stage footage shot by the band while on tour in Europe and America. Also included were videos of the hit singles "It's Not Love" and "In My Dreams" as well as "Into The Fire", "Just Got Lucky" and "Alone Again" from 1984's "Tooth And Nail".

For its DVD debut, "Unchain The Night" is expanded with four previously unreleased videos: "Burning Like A Flame", and "Heaven Sent" from 1987's "Back For The Attack", plus "Walk Away", a studio track added to the 1988 live album "Beast From The East". Also included is the video for "Dream Warriors", a song for "A Nightmare On Elm Street III" that featured the band and two stars from the film: Robert Englund (as Freddy Krueger) and Emmy winner Patricia Arquette. The DVD also features a newly recorded interview with the band.

DOKKEN recently returned to their Redondo Beach studio to begin work on their ninth studio album, "Lightning Strikes Again". Taking its title from a track on "Under Lock And Key", the new album will be available this summer from Rhino Records, featuring founding members Don Dokken and Mick Brown along with Jon Levin on guitars and Barry Sparks on bass. The group is also plotting a world tour for later this year, set to begin in June.
