Hey guys... Our journal/ photoblog is now at http://dancinglight.us/newcdjournal.htmlWe're posting pretty regularly from the road. We're in Florida right now having a great time. A couple of nights ago we skyped a song to our friend, Shirley in Tokyo...Shirley sang along. First time that one of our songs was performed simultaneously on two different days. Wow! Shirley used her computer camera to show us her view of Tokyo. We could see the Tokyo tower outside her apartment window. Looks like a red version of the eiffel tower.

As I sit here looking out at 6 feet of snow outside my office window, I've been reflecting on the ever-expanding internet. The first websites I made back in the early 90s were in HTML - before the advent of WYSIWYG web page editors.
It's been a long road, but it seems that the internet is finally coming of age and is overflowing with creative, inspired force for which I am so very grateful.
The innovations keep me fascinated! Folks at myxer make it possible for us to so freely share ringtones. Just a couple of years ago I was struggling through the process - now it takes about 10 minutes to make a ringtone, share it with friends and send it to your mobile phone. Cafe Press enabled to have our artwork become coffee mugs, t-shirts, posters, tote bags, without having to make and lug around hundreds of items.
The folks at CD Baby help us distribute our CDs and make it possible for you to download our songs at iTunes and other download services, and the folks at various servers keep our info up and running. Networking sites, myspace, facebook, iLike, youTube, keep us entertained and connected.
The list goes on and on and it blows my mind and I am so grateful to be an independent musician/indy label living in these times with support like this. I feel so blessed to have weathered the trials and tribulations of the internet in its infancy and come out onto such an abundant playing field.
So to all you math brains and business-minded kids and creative forces of nature, I thank you for following you bliss and daring to blaze a new trail across the mysterious frontier of the internet. You have made my life easier and more enjoyable and given me room to follow my bliss, which is creating music.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

We are in Florida. Waiting for the arrival of our new baby - Rice Cakes from the Moon. Hoping we haven't forgotten anything or anyone in the liner notes. Greg's airbrushed cover artwork is soulful and light-filled. If you look closely you can see the rabbit in the shadows of the buttery yellow moon on the cover.
We had a blast at the Vets for Peace solstice concert...reconnecting with our tribe of light-filled beings who support and help to manifest peace. Bill invited me to lead "Imagine." What an honor! I love the Neil Young version "Imagine no possessions...I wonder if 'I' can" which we all imagine that John Lennon would approve of. During the concert we spoke with John Hall from the stage via cell phone speakerphone and were able to collectively congratulate his efforts to become the next US Congressman from New York's 19th district.
Bright, sunny wishes to everyone for a New Year of peace, abundance, and renewed hope. I hope it's a year of finding common ground, building bridges and offering compassion in those relationships needing it most.
When I was a child and having a...well, let's say a "heated discussion" with my brother, Mom would sit us down at the kitchen counter and make us write down three things we liked about each other. After about fifteen minutes of crossed arms and pursed lips, occasionally sticking our tongues out at each other, we realized unless we did as Mom asked, we weren't going anywhere. Eventually we found some small shred of something slightly redeeming about the other, and our differences softened.
For my own personal sense of peace and well-being, I hope this year to find three things I like about anyone I feel challenged by.
peace and earthly sanity,
kiki
We've covered alot of ground in 2006. Sitting here in north-central Florida on the day after Christmas the year stretches back full of changing faces and landscapes. With in our musical lives we have grown through months of recording and weeks of post production and the process has been full of challenges and grace. I give big thanks to the many friends who have supported us with their love, knowledge, ideas, and honest feedback as our new CD has grown from the seed of songs to this moment of waiting for the finished package to arrive at our door.
The title track of Rice Cakes from the Moon is a song in celebration of the abundance of our autumn garden. One of our favorite manifestations of the inate abundance of the universe. From the seat of sublime peace at the center of my being, beyond the crazy chatter of my over active mind, I pray that we small blips on the great radar screen of all that is will invest our power to think,to believe and to create from the infinite pallet of life a human state of being in love, in peace, in abundant possiblity the whole world round.

One Love is our one hundreth new friend. How cool is that!

The Campaign for a United States Department of Peace is having a nationwide "Walk for Peace" on Sept 16th. We're checking to see if there's one in our area. Folks can join an existing walk for peace or start their own.
Lots of good info at http://www.thepeacealliance.org/

Peace and earthly sanity,

BTW Last year the bill was FINALLY introduced in the US Senate by our Minnesota senator, Mark Dayton. If you have time to contact your US Senators about jumping on board, you'll find a contact page for your members of Congress at http://www.thepeacealliance.org/content/view/29/139/

Ironic that our Declaration of Independence was written to liberate us from the tyranny of King George back in 1776. Hmmm.
Played at the Cabin in Bemidji with Jim Burt. Enjoyed seeing everyone. Thanks for the photo, Erin!

Jingle Dancer will be on the new CD. The version on Meadowdance doesn't have the sound of the jingles on it (we recorded it b4 making the diamond jingle stick) and folks wanted to hear the sound of the jingles. I was given this jingle dress by Les at the Woodtick. Thank you, Les! We took the dress into Jim's studio and mic'd it. Added keyboard (spacey Kurzweil sounds) and Jim has done some interesting panning effects to make it sound as though you're in the middle of the powwow with the dancers moving around you. Great listen with phones. CD is coming along - little by little. Thanks for your patience.

Both songs will be on our upcoming CD, Rice Cakes from the Moon.
Won't being doing too many gigs in the next couple of months as we're planning to tour in Fla - Texas, in Jan and Feb 06. Hope to see you on down the road.

Oh one more item...
Just learned that our sweet friends Richard Allen and Susan Mastin are over in Cambodia helping to provide fresh clean water, good food, health care and education to families and communities there.
One of the beautiful outcomes of bringing fresh water to a community is that the folks that live there can now grow their own food during the five months of the drought season, instead of relying on a diet of stored rice left over from the rainy season.
We saw Richard and Susan last when we were playing the McIntosh Cafe in McIntosh, Florida (4/30/05). Greg and I were so excited to see them in the audience - they were radiant and full of light, angels here on earth, just as we remembered them.
Surfing their website and seeing all they've done in the past five years is a humbling experience. If you're interested in finding out more about the project they started, go to http://sustainablecambodia.org/
Peace and abundance to our sisters and brothers in Cambodia,
Kiki
