Have you all heard this band (-Hello Lovers)? They're pretty much the most inventive act you could hope for in these days of Garage / Psych Rock dominance. The group usually consists of piano, violin, cello and a howling-sultry vocalist that often forgoes a microphone due to his strength of voice and delivery. They're Austin based and play all the places you'd expect to see Punk, Garage and all other brands of Rock n' Roll. They also throw unorthodox settings into their performance locations. Do yourselves a HUGE favor and seek them out ! -A Fan

I have to call Austin out.. This "Live Music Capital Of The World" bullshit is BULLSHIT. We (myself included) act as if we're "entitled" to all of these live performances that are forever swirling and churning in most every bar in this town. Bands dont get paid SHIT here ! This is true for many cities, I know.. But lets focus on Austin for now. The thing that burns me up most is people like me that ARE IN BANDS expect to be let in free to a club they / we have played once or twice. SHIT ! ! Even having played a place twenty times should not equal "assumed" free admission. Of course certain clubs value drawing bands and their members and to let these folks in is very much a "Thank You" for basically bringing steady money into that venue. I can get down with that. Certainly.. I also understand being broke. -Please know I'm hating on myself right now as well.. I really think its time well all showed some gratitude for quality bands / acts by treating them like professionals and not just slipping into clubs for free just because, lets face it, many of us CAN ! This brings me to my last point (having to do with that "quality" thing). Maybe clubs are so lax on door fees because they know that, a little too often, the bands they house SUCK ! I think Austin is finally cranking out some high quality music for the first time, of this abundance, IN YEARS ! It would be very nice if bookers got more into researching who they book so that a better / more acurate expectation for any given show could be predicted. Lastly I must write that this rant comes from me being in a band, working the door at a club, booking all my bands shows and from weaseling my way into clubs for years now. Oh yeah...: In no way am I whining because I expect to make my living off of being a musician -but maybe thats fucked up as well. -David

Hello Austin friends. We have this idea to play a house party between Dec. 26th and Dec. 30th seeing as how many Texans will be in town -having returned from their new cities of residence for the holidays. There'll be that weird holiday down time that they're just gonna spend at Creekside anyway. We say lets give them (and us) some fucking HOLIDAY FUN ! ! Any interested bands please write us soon. I'm working on the "where of it" as you read this. Love, CFA Oh yeah....: "Junkfood" themed ?
P.S. : Okay.. Nobody threw this party we wanted WHEN we wanted. So how's about doing this thing any old time ? Write us please.

A lot of folks these days say good-bye or pass each other in the street with a hand signal that is their index and middle finger extended (the others curled into the palm) and the back of the hand and fingers outward. Now, I think I know whats going on here... : I think these people think they're shooting a "Peace Sign". The thing is : Last I checked that hand gesture means "PISS OFF ! ! !". I know times are always changing and that I'm referring to a more European interpretation of this hand gesture (mainly England) but this was adopted by MANY Americans about 20 years ago as well (C'mon :The Young Ones? Anyone?). I thought it still had potency as an insult. The "Peace Sign hand Gesture" I grew up with was quite distinctly a palm OUT gesture. I swear it ! Check ALL of your hippie reference photos from the '60s all the way up to the '90s. Some of you have got this seriously WRONG ! But who am I to say? I mean the word "nigger" used to be offensive as well.
