Sound: When I heard Molotov Solution's latest album The Harbringer, I was quite impressed. But, that's another review for another time. When I found out that Molotov Solution were coming to Houston, I jumped at the chance to go.

I usually don't go to shows, but when I do, I find that no matter how good the performance is, The Music usually doesn't stand up to the recordings. So I wasn't expecting Molotov Solution to sound the way they sounded on record.

On record, Molotov Solution are crushing, powerful, tight, and defined. Live, well... They're just as good.

The vocalist sounded great on the albums, and he did not disappoint Live. If anything, there was a certain level of power in his voice Live that just couldn't have been captured on record.

Unfortunately, we were in the Red Room of the Meridian, so the sound quality was not as good as it could have been in the main room. Because of this, it was next to impossible to hear the singers high pitched screams through the ..
speakers... Since I was at the front, it was easy to hear his voice from right in front of me, but to everyone behind, it must have looked like his voice was periodically giving out.

The other members of the band (two guitarists, bassit, and drummer) played flawlessly. Each member played totally in sync with the other, all while giving the best performance possible. The lead guitarist had quite an impressive pedal collection (several of them looked Vintage) for a deathcore band. What's even more impressive is that he actually used all of them.

If it weren't for the bad mic setup inhibiting the singer's vocals, the sound would have been pretty much perfect. Everything else was well balanced, and you could hear each instrument perfectly.

Perfomance: The stage they played on was extremely small, but Molotov Solution made do with what they had. Although it was virtually impossible to move on that stage, the band still gave it their all with the show. There was plenty of crowd interaction, with the singer occasionally handing the mic out to eager fans to sing along.

I can't quite recall what songs were played, as I was still quite new to the songs. I recognized a few from their old CD, and several from their new CD. Everyone around me, however, seemed to know every word to every song.

Unfortunately, a pretty big part of the audience didn't seem too into them. During the breakdowns there were less people in the pit than while other bands were playing. But then again, those other bands are much bigger than Molotov Solution (relatively speaking, of course). Also, the show was largely a Christian hardcore show (as it was the CD release party for a Christian deathcore act), with almost every band on the bill being openly Christian. Molotov Solution are openly atheist, according to their lyrics. This might have caused some sort of discord between the band and the audience.

Even though most of the crowd seemed unfamiliar with Molotov Solution, the band did manage to attract a few new fans to the merch table after their performance.

Impression: Molotov Solution were touring through Houston, TX, USA @ Club Meridian on November 7th, 2009 with American Me. Upon a Burning Body were supposed to be there, but they apparently had to drop that date. Their tour stop in Houston was a part of the support for the CD release party for Houston's Before there was Rosalyn, a deathcore act whose debut album just came out on Victory Records.

I went to the show to see Molotov Solution, so the problem with that was having to wait two hours through bands I didn't care much for. During that time, though, I discoveredAmerican Me and Through Fallen Skies, who both put on great shows. The ticket was only 12 bucks, if I recall, and it was well worth the money.

I think the highlight of the show for me was when the Molotov vocalist asked
"Who's having a good time?" in between songs. I shouted "THIS GUY!" while pointing to myself, to which he replied "Alright, that guy!" while pointing back to me. Now next time I see them, I'll be able to shout the same thing, and they'll remember. // 9

Current mood:  insubordinate

The Harbinger

Resurrected, forged in the shadows. Forked tongue spewing venom and flames. A message of hope coupled with a promise of change. A subtle overhaul in appearance and disposition, a clever distraction forged to subdue the population.

They call him FUEHRER!!
I say DECEIVER!!
He calls himself UNITER!!
We say DIVIDER!!

He is here to deliver domination.

HARBINGER!
HARBINGER!

DECEIVER OF OUR HOPE!

Resurrected, forged in the shadows. Forked tongue spewing venom and flames. A message of hope coupled with a promise of change. A subtle overhaul in appearance and disposition, a clever distraction forged to subdue the population.

So this is the order of the new world?
I see only a revival of the oldest and worst forms of what can only be tyranny. In which there is no happiness, hope, or liberty for the rest of humanity.

We will reject your false message of security. We will destroy your vision of tyranny.

 HARBINGER!
The Awakened Preacher.
HARBINGER!
The Worlds Deceiver.

DECEIVER OF OUR HOPE!
DECEIVER OF OUR HOPE!
I will rip out your lying tongue and shove it back down your fucking throat!
OH!

Freedom is ours!

----------------------------------------

Living Proof

We are being cornered, the danger will never fade, an unholy alliance of power to dominate and enslave the human race. They’re sponsored by the mandrake mechanism, which creates power out of thin air.

That’s what you get when corporations would rather profit from our pain than help improve their nations. Instead they use our suffering as means to get what they need, maintaining constant dependency so that their plans can proceed.

We are being watched, monitored every day, from what we buy to what we eat and think and fucking say. So now they want us to carry a tracking card or “get chipped”, well fuck that shit I say we show them that we’re sick of this.

What’s the price of a better life, free of corruption and dishonesty?

We the people deserve a fucking explanation for the life we’re forced to endure!
We the people will not stand for this exploitation anymore!

WE THE PEOPLE!
DESERVE A FUCKING EXPLANATION!
WE THE PEOPLE!
WILL NOT BE EXPLOITED ANYMORE!

We are being bought, in the worst possible way, to strive for a corporate pushed lifestyle, one of which is portrayed in almost every form of entertainment so that we become what they want and think what they permit.

That’s what you get when corporations would rather profit from our pain than help improve their nations. Instead they use our suffering as a means to get what they need, maintaining constant dependency so that their plans can proceed.

Kill! (x4)
Our freedom and our only hope for tomorrow.
Kill! (x4)
All of us or watch your dreams fall dead because…

We Are Living Proof That Humanity Has a Right To Choose! (x2)

(Metal Blade) In preparation for their upcoming release The Harbinger, Las Vegas metal act Molotov Solution has just released the track listing and album artwork to the Metal Blade Records debut.
The Harbinger will contain 11 blistering tracks, which were recorded with Tim Lambesis (As I Lay Dying), Daniel Castleman, and Kelly Cairns at Lambesis studios in San Diego, CA (Sworn Enemy, Impending Doom, War of Ages).

"Working with people like Kelly and Daniel at Lambesis Studio allowed our CD to really come out the way we intended it to simply because the mass amount of time they put into it for us. Jeremy managed to shell out all 11 tracks in about 9 hours which allowed us to focus greatly on vocals and guitars! With at least 12 hours a day for about 3 weeks of constant performing, we honestly feel that the songs could not get any tighter.

In The Harbinger we focused more on structured songs rather than part after part as well as changing up the moods from song to song so it doesn't all sound the same. It's definitely the heaviest collection of songs we have written and the most proud we could be about a release!

As for the new material goes we will be playing a large portion of it on our upcoming Young Guns Tour with Psyopus, Rose Funeral, and Woe of Tyrants. So come out and bang your fucking head with us!" Molotov Solution

1. Warlords
2. Rule By Secrecy
3. Only The Dead
4. Atrum Inritus
5. Corpus Imperium
6. Monolithic Apparatus
7. The Harbinger
8. Enslaved
9. Awakening
10. Living Proof
11. The Dawn Of Ascendency

The Lambesis studio team was pivotal in capturing the intensity of The Harbinger. Mastering duties were left in the more than capable hands of Alan Douches at West West Side Music (Shadows Fall, God Forbid, The Acacia Strain) who put on the final crushing touches. MOLOTOV SOLUTION’s The Harbinger, which paints a picture of a dark society and an even darker future, will be in stores and online everywhere June 9th 2009!.

MOLOTOV SOLUTION is:
Robbie Pina - guitar
Nick Arthur - vocals
Kevin Oakley - bass
Jeremy Johnson - drums
Sims Collison – guitar

MOLOTOV SOLUTION delivers a violent and brooding sound, with a strong politically driven message that this world is only getting worse as each day goes by. Formed in January of 2004, the band has been working diligently on crafting their destructive and pummeling sound that they are known for over the years. MOLOTOV SOLUTION has been seen destroying everything in their path on tour with such acts as Whitechapel, Impending Doom, Through the Eyes of the Dead, Knights of the Abyss, and Elysia just to name a few. 2008 brought the band much success as they solidified their current roster with the strongest line up they have ever seen and gained the attention of renowned metal label, Metal Blade Records. Be sure to catch the band when they come through with Psyopus, Rose Funeral, and Woe of Tyrants as part of the Metal Blade Records Young Guns Tour.

Metal Blade signs Molotov Solution

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the signing of Las Vegas’ Molotov Solution. Their Metal Blade debut album is currently being mixed and tracking was done by Kelly Cairns and mixing by the duo of Tim Lambesis and Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios (Sworn Enemy, Impending Doom, War Of Ages) in San Diego, CA. Mastering was left in the more than capable hands of Alan Douches at West West Side Music. The album promises to be one of the most extreme and thought provoking releases of the year.

Metal Blade president Mike Faley comments: “Molotov Solution is a musical assault on your senses, bombastic music with social and politically charged lyrics. That is as incendiary as it gets.”

Molotov Solution embodies the DIY attitude and strong work ethic shared by their peers on Metal Blade as well as the ability to compose music that causes pits to erupt in every city they play. More tours and shows are on deck as the band prepares for the release of the album.

“We are extremely proud to be added to the legendary Metal Blade family! Being signed to a major metal label has always been one of the hopes and dreams of this band, and signing to one as accomplished and dedicated as Metal Blade is very exciting. We would like to thank Metal Blade and our management, The Artery Foundation, for being so patient this last year and making this dream a reality.

As for the new album, you can expect a huge improvement from the last one. The band has progressed to new levels of writing and the songs will be heavier than they've ever been and more aggressive as a whole. This is the proudest and most excited I have ever felt about a release. Huge thanks goes out to Tim Lambesis, Daniel Castleman, and Kelly "The Carnage" Cairns at Lambesis Studios for being so amazing to work with and putting great effort towards making our new album an amazing release.” - Robbie Pina, Molotov Solution

The album is tentatively slated for the summer of 2009. Keep an eye on their myspace page and metalblade.com for updates, including the album title, track listing, and artwork.

SOUNDING OFF: Molotov Solution new disc a safe bet

They trade in death, but that doesn't make it any easier to deal with when it comes beckoning for them.

"There have been people who've told us that they're going to kill us, that they're going to take us out," says Robbie Pina, guitarist for outspoken Vegas death metal band Molotov Solution, sporting a slightly incredulous grin. "We'd laugh about it, but then we'd sit there and seriously think about it and go, 'Oh man, could that really happen?' "

Molotov Solution's sound is polarizing -- fast and unforgiving, with swarming riffs and guttural vocals spat out like poison darts -- and their viewpoints are even more so.

The band's catalog comes on like a libertarian manifesto with blast beats, rife with warnings about the dangers of neo-feudalism and excessive privatization, inspired by the likes of hip-hop firebrand Immortal Technique, syndicated radio host Alex Jones and controversial 9/11 documentaries such as "Loose Change."

But their lyrics, while proactive, aren't overly partisan or rife with the kind of jingoist sloganeering that often infects bands of a political bent.

"It's not heresy or our viewpoints, for the most point, it's very factual. We do our homework," says Pina, clad in a "Power to the People" T-shirt while having a beer at the sports-themed bar Home Plate. "For this album, Kyle read 10 to 12 books just to prepare himself for what we're writing about, because we never want to write about a subject that we're unsure about. We don't ever want to misinform anybody."

Molotov Solution's latest release, a self-titled full-length that comes out today, is a big step forward for the band, a much more groove-oriented affair that sees the group toning down the grindcore influences once prominent in their sound for a much more immediate, focused attack.

"I was kind of tired of writing riff after riff after riff, not really repeating anything," Pina says, flanked by heavily tattooed new guitarist Joe Brady, who boasts more ink than "War and Peace." "I wanted to make very solid songs and make things distinguishable on the album."

What results is a disc that will surely rank among the best Vegas metal releases of the year. It's also a safe bet that the album will land the band on one of the more sizable metal indies, a step up from the band's current label, San Jose's 12 Gauge Records.

The Molotov lineup has been in flux lately, as the band's former singer Kyle Davis left the group to return to school and Pina also had to recruit a new drummer. But no matter who's in Molotov Solution these days, the band's world view is likely to remain as combustible as its namesake.

"There can be no Molotov Solution without politics or social consciousness. It's just not possible," Pina says matter of factly. "I would never let myself be in another band that isn't like that. Knowing what I know now, it's not something that you can just turn a blind eye to."

We are proud to announce the release of our newest CD (and first full length) on Twelve Gauge Records will be April 15th in stores and on iTunes! I know its a long time to wait, but you can get the CD more than three weeks earlier if you pre-order it directly from TG.

We are really happy with the way the CD came out. It features 10 tracks (and one secret track) recorded by Zach Ohren (All Shall Perish, Animosity, Odious Mortem) and a 12 page full color booklet designed by Dennis Sibeijn of Monument Studio (Dragonforce, See You Next Tuesday, Job For A Cowboy). The imagery on each page reflects the lyrics featured on that page, and the lyrics dive deeper than ever before into everything from:

the war on drugs to the war on terror, human experimentation to eugenics, surveillance to implantable microchips, mind control to energy weapons, the federal reserve system to the IRS, the military-industrial complex, the prison-industrial complex, the consolidation of power into the hands of fewer and fewer corporations and bankers, and so much more.

Track listing:
1. Introduction
2. Corporatocracy
3. An Even More Inconvenient Truth
4. End Game
5. Psych-War
