Hey Mobadasses! Well it's been a fairly busy fall so far... Halloween was a blast! I will be posting pictures soon. Ryan was a Swedish Hairband guitar shredder, Jason was Bob Dylan on the drums, Jesse was Sir Elton John and I was young 'jailhouse rock" Elvis. About a minute before the show I quickly told the guys we were going to open with Jailhouse Rock and it was pretty badass. I like throwing things at the guys every now and then, it comes across as spontaneous since it actually is not rehearsed at all. Luckily it went over wicked good. We shot our very first video for the single 'Home To Me' last month in Saskatoon and it surpisingly received MASSIVE press coverage and support from the community. We filmed on one of the best cameras in the industry, and so far the footage looks like a major budget movie. The official video will be released Spring 2009 on MUCHMUSIC and eTalk Canada. BEST POP SONG - No Excuses BEST WORLD MUSIC ALBUM - Mobadass Island Rock BEST DANCE SONG - Reggae On Broadway (Ovi Remix) They are Toronto based independent music and fashion magazine so yay our first awards!! Our website is also nearing completion and it will be www.mobadass.ca not .com because some bastard jacked it after it expired and now wants $25K for it!!!!! Mutherf*cker Anyways, there are lots more shows to look forward to in the next couple of months but only around western Canada, sorry about that Easterners but we'll tour out the someday soon. So I have come to realization that I really suck at blogging. hehe. This is something I hope to improve..starting now!

The summer has been fantastic so far starting off with our hometown cd release party which was fittingly landed on Summer Solstice. I had put together the biggest band (6piece) for a very special night and it was so hot, sweaty, ridiculously packed and probably our best show in Saskatoon to date. The tour moved slightly east to our neighbours in Regina before heading west to Calgary, Edmonton,Vancouver, Van Island and more. As fun as the shows were, it was tough to to do a club tour in the summer but I had no choice since we missed the deadlines for festivals because the album just got finished. Next summer will be a different story with mostly all festivals. Overall, shows were still great and people still came out and supported. The most positive thing that has come from getting the album out there is that the reactions are over the top! This is why I had to take my time to do it right even though it set me back a year and a half. I really wanted the music to represent my best and it does which makes me totally proud, excited, and relieved lol.

We're on I-Tunes yay! It only took them 2 bloody months to put us on! I still prefer people to order it through Cdbaby because we can keep track of who's buying and message back thank yous. Plus itunes takes more $ but it is still worth having it there because it reaches way more people and it is so damm convenient. Besides, people still like to buy 1 song verses a whole album. It feels good though to be on it, almost like things are really legit now cause everyone who is anyone is on itunes. So leave us a cool review! Honestly though, I couldn't be happier with how the music and artwork turned out. It is world class in my opinion and a good sign of things moving to the next level. I already have another album written so I already can't wait to get back in the studio in the winter when it's too bloddy cold to tour here. Either that or we'll be touring somewhere hot like Australia or New Zealand or California in the winter.

I am getting ready to shoot 1 and possibly 2 videos in early September for "Home To Me" and "Nobody Knows". Seeing as though the whole You Tube thing is crazy, I though we would need some high quality vids out there in the world. I do love a good video personally so I will do my best to make it look as cool as possible. A video is still art to me, so going into it with that mentality should help avoid any fromage or typical boring stuff. It's a weird animal thooguh because a good video has to suit the song but it can also bring a song to life, such a fine line there. I am super pumped for it so there is a lot more to look forward to. If I had my way I would make one for every song as long I could afford to do it hehe.

Anyways, that's all I got right now.. got to get back to working to get the music out there. It's business time!

Hey it's Earl here,

Well I hope everyone had a nice chillaxin hollidays and fun new year's. The highlight for me would have to be our annual Boxing Day Bash, which the party of the year for me. Old friends who have moved away are all home with no work to do and are ready to party old school style. However 2008 will be the year everyone hears about Mobadass as the album will be finished up in the next few months! In my defence, I haven't been able to put all of my time into this because of other commitments. That is all changed as I am now free to do this full time which will make it so I take the music nation and world wide from now on. It feels great to have nothing in the way of following my dream of touring the world but first things first...

    Mobadass is one of  three Saskatoon artists to be invited to play at Canadian Music Week in Toronto! It will mark the first time we have travel east of Winnipeg but i feel more than ready to show the industry a sound for the future. I am very excited about it but more excited for a cd release tour in the spring and summer festival touring! Europe, Australia, and the U.S. are also in the future touring plans but we need to win over our home country first which will be a fun challenge. No more set backs and better yet no excuses hehe.. stay tuned for mo' exciting news!

Earl & the Mobadass Allstars

Let me start off by expressing my frustration with myspace just a little bit. When I first got on here there was cool bands and people (which there still is) but all the spam and bullshit was driving me away from this site not to mention all of the glitches like not being able to upload any songs for a month! Okay..just needed to vent, i'm good now, hehe. As far as new music is concerned I'm super excited about how it's all turning out. Me and my engineer Brandon have been calling the recording process as giving my songs "extreme make overs"lol. Everything is fianlly sounding how I pictured it and that is all that matters to me at this point. I will be back in the studio to finish the album in January, for real, so for now enjoy the "new' tracks and let me know what you think. Oh and there will be brand spankin new songs as well, yaya!

Tomorrow is the WCMA'S (Western Canadian Music Awards) in Moose Jaw and we will be showcasing Friday night. I'm excited to play an all original show and be part of the festival which I haven't since 2005 in Calgary. I am also excited about running a worshop in the morning talking about something I love and know lots about which is performing. All in all it should be a fun weekend and we'll be up for an award definitely next year!

MOBADASS is back on the road so I hope to see some of you out, tell your friends and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Well I'd like to start off the end of my blog hibernation with a HAPPY SUMMER Y'ALL!! It is afterall, Mobadass's favourite time of year. Winter in Saskatchewan Canada is pretty dismal, and spring is better but rainy and muddy. So get out the beach blankets and sunscreen, cause it's gonna be a hot one this year. Next week we will posting new music including our very first single!! About godamm time hey? I know that's what you're thinking, but the album is near completion so by the end of summer look out for a cd release party near you! A big cross Canada album release tour is in the works for September/October and then hopefully we'll be spreading the Mobadass sound outside of our beloved country.

Lots of great things happened this spring, we got voted Best Local Band  for the second year in a row which is very cool. There are a lot of great bands and talented musicians in our artsy city, so it means a lot to us to be recognized by our hometown. Now the next step is to get that same recognition in Canada, so hopefully the new album and lots of touring can help out with that. Anyone who has supported us over the past few years has a lot to do with where we are at right now. From a person who buys a cd, comes to a show, tells a friend, or even takes the time to listen to our music, we totally appreciate all of it so keep it up!! An actual website is in our future as well, but for now as weird and oversaturated as myspace has got in the last year, it still does the job and no band can complain about it being free and all.

Well it's that fun time of year where we get to be like kids again, except there's intoxicants involved now.lol  I hate to be one to promise one thing and do another but making music can be really unpredictable. On one hand we have new music for the debut album recorded, which you can all check out samples of, download and share. On the other hand to release to an album properly takes time and preparation as well as making sure the music itself is sounding just right.

We want to have our music heard all around the world so it's in our best interests to take our time and at the same time please our fans and friends. Hey you guys!

Well I hope everybody has had an amazing summer... i'm sad to see it come to an end. On the bright side, fall is fast approaching which means our debut album is close to dropping!! We're been working really hard spending countless hours in the studio and it's all coming together now. It's been a fun ride but the fun is just about to start when we get to share the new music with all of you!

Producer/mix engineer Roger Swan, (K-OS) has been the perfect fit for our sound and style taking "island rock" to an exciting new level. We're only a week away from completion but we haven't set a definite release day. The good news is that it will be available to order through myspace and at live shows before the offiicial release. I'll be posting a new slide show of 'in studio' pics next week as well as our first single and more!

We hope you've enjoyed the live tracks but that was just a tiny taste of what's to come, so if you liked those then you're all in for a treat so stay tuned.....

First of all, I hope everyone is having an amazingly hot summer! A huge thank you and massive respect to all of those who have orderd the live album.. we hope you are enjoying it! If you haven't ordered yet, I have signed and personalized each copy and we are only pressing a limited amount so maybe they will be worth something someday ; ) And another big up for the most recent live show attendees, we cant wait to finally play for all of you this coming year!!

My apologies for being a bit MIA on the myspace the past month. Since we put the live album link up for special order we've been spending all of our time playing shows, rehearsing, and most importantly recording the new album. Unfortunately, that has left little myspace time to message you guys especially the extra cool people who have gone out of their way to post us comments, send us messages, listened to all of the songs we've put up, and spread the word. But I promise that I will be posting each of you and also adding you new island-rock lovers very soon.

Oh, I almost forgot..we now have some really wicked live footage that we are working on putting up soon for those who have yet to see us in action...until then..keep spreading the MOBADASS LOVE!
