Hi everyone!

Welcome to a new era!

I just wanted to let you know that after months and months of writing, rewriting, recording, rerecording, over thinking, and writing - I am pleased to announce my next musical endeavor!

Last night I released online the first two song demos for my new project, Skyline Underground. I'd love it if you'd give them a listen and give me your thoughts.

What started as a "solo" project quickly, and without warning, took on a life of its own and became a band in its own right. I'm looking to release 2 more song demos online in the very near future and have plans to release an album in the new year.

You can check out this new MySpace by clicking over to myspace.com/skylineundergroundband or by locating the band at the 1 spot in ENY's Top Friends.

I'm not going to waste time typing out every little detail because I feel like the songs will speak for themselves. We're aiming to be performing live in the next few months, so keep an eye out for show dates. Who knows... you may even see some familiar faces on stage.

Thank you for all the support during Early Next Year, and I hope you'll enjoy my latest offering.

All the best!

For all you youngin's out there, "Where Are They Now?" was an old Vh1 TV show that chronicled the current whereabouts regarding bands, actors, and generally (once upon a time) important people including (but not limited to) Billy Idol, Dee Snyder, & Meat Loaf. Of course, this was also back when Vh1 actually played music videos. Boy, how things change.

Since things have been quiet in ENY land for about 7 months, they wanted to give an update on just what the members have been up to since (believe it or not) people have been asking.

Bert Long (Bass Guitar) recently relocated to the Longwood, FL area where he now works for ASR Pro Events which supplies music gear, lighting setups, and sound equipment for corporate events and touring musicians. He gets to travel the state and see some great shows and organize set ups for some huge stages. Some of the company's clients include Alanis Morrisette, Black Eyed Peas, Lupe Fiasco, Blues Brothers, Macy Gray, Tony Bennett, and Fall Out Boy, among many many others.

JoAnna Leitch (Drums) is happily living in the Maitland, FL area and has recently gone back to school to further her studies.

Doug McPherson (Guitar) was married in June to his wife, Sherry, and on Wednesday, October 15th, they celebrated the birth of their daughter, Lucy McPherson! He is still living in Winter Park, FL and working at Full Sail University. Though he may have taken some time away from music, he suggests that playing and performing again somewhere down the line is not out of the question.

Wes Locher (Vocals, Guitar, Moog) lives in Winter Park, FL and also works at Full Sail University. Never being one to slow down, he spent the last 6 months writing and recording new music and will be launching a brand new band in November of 2008. He is excited for all the ENY fans to hear it and aims to be performing live shows before the end of the year. There are also plans to release a new album early next year. Wes also realizes how terrible of a joke that was. Stay tuned and he will be sure to announce when new music is available! For those in the Orlando area, you can catch Wes occasionally performing live with the rock band, Inkwell.

Once again, thanks to everyone who supported Early Next Year and they hope to see you again in their travels.

Sincerely,
Doug, Bert, Wes, & JoAnna

Hi.

For a band that we never felt had many fans, word sure travels quickly.

Here’s what’s happening with Early Next Year.

For the moment, we are no longer a band.
I’m hesitant to even write about this, but the news was starting to pop up other places online, and I wanted to at least say my piece so that people didn’t jump to their own conclusions. We at least owe an explaination.

We apologize for the uncharacteristic behavior we displayed recently in canceling several shows. ENY was never a band to cancel last minute or just not show up to a scheduled performance. In fact, we were usually 2 hours early everywhere that we were playing. We missed one show because I had to leave the state on short notice to attend a family members funeral. The other show was canceled because we just couldn’t pull it together.

I don’t have many details to share with you at the moment as we still have some loose ends to tie up, but this was a decision that was pretty much made without ever even discussing it.

We put 4 and a half years into this band, developing it, supporting it, and doing it all with smiles on our faces because we loved it. Since our incarnation in 2003, we released our first EP back in 2005 called "Sarcasm is Your Friend" and a great record in 2007 entitled, "Catch These Words." We played over 100 live shows across Florida and met more awesome people and bands than I can begin to list. However, as most artists will tell you, being in a band is not at all easy. It wears on your mind, your body, your relationships, and your wallet. We did not support ourselves on the money we made from ENY, it all went right back in to printing merchandise, pressing CD’s, puchasing and maintaining our tour van, and buying gasoline. We’ve never once in nearly 5 years put any of the money made from the band into our own pockets. It was a labor of love.
However, people can change and grow a lot in that time, which I think it’s safe to say, all of ENY’s members did. Think how much you changed between your first year and last year of high school. Yeah, that’s pretty deep to think about, huh? For me what it really boiled down to is the fact that we put so much time and love into the project, and it was hard not to see listeners give that back. Don’t get me wrong, we have great fans. Very loving and very loyal. But for a band that had dreams of making the transition to full time touring act, it just wasn’t panning out. The interest wasn’t there, and not enough eardrums were being bombarded with our songs. I’m very surprised that our music didn’t catch more people’s attention. Perhaps with a little more time things would have been different, but unfortunately, we ran out of time.

I have nothing but respect for my bandmates. It’s been an absolute pleasure living and playing with such hard-working and dedicated people. I have nothing but love for them, and that will not change. I don’t regret anything we’ve done over the years and it was such an amazing learning experience both musically and personally.

I’m chalking it up to growth.
Simply put, we grew up.
Is that a bad thing? Absolutely not.

What I can’t tell you right now is whether or not Early Next Year might continue in some form or fashion down the line. I don’t know if we will play any farewell shows. I don’t know what future plans are being entertained by all of the band members.

What I can say is that personally, I have no intentions of stopping.
I will continue writing and recording music and hope to have something to share with you sooner than later.

There’s a lot up in the air right now and as we discuss these things, I will be sure to share them with you.

I want to thank all the venues and promoters who gave us a listen and a chance to play their stage.
I want to thank all the fans who came to our shows and made us feel loved and appreciated. We feel the same for you.
I want to thank all our friends and families who supported us every step of the way.

Please try view this situation as I am... this is not an end, but a new beginning.

I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks for the fun,
Wes Locher

BIOGRAPHY:
In March 2007, powerpop act Early Next Year holed up in their Orlando, Florida home with producer Travis Adams (Vocalist for the One Eleven Records band, Inkwell) to record what would become their debut LP entitled "Catch These Words", which was released July 3rd, 2007.
Previously they had formed in 2003, spent 2004 playing shows around the Sunshine State, and 2005 saw the independent release of their EP "Sarcasm is Your Friend." Rather than focus on the past and what they have done, Wes Locher (vocals, guitar, moog), Doug McPherson (guitar), Bert Long (bass, vocals), and JoAnna Leitch (drums) are more concerned with the future, and what they will do... have everyone singing along. Say hello to Early Next Year.

The band has played over one hundred shows across Florida, gaining fans and turning heads with their energetic live performance as well as sharing the stage with acts such as Gym Class Heroes (Fueled By Ramen), Between The Trees (Universal), Sound The Alarm (Geffen Records), Tyler Read (Immortal Records), Inkwell (One Eleven Records), The Progress (Negative Progression Records), Rory (One Eleven Records), & Damiera (Equal Vision Records).
