Current mood:  sad
When I found out the news about my boy/local artist Doub X passing away just a few minutes ago.... My whole entire mood changed.  We haven't spoke in about a year.  Several times we were supposed to link up so he could get some beats from me within these past couple years, but I kept on getting sidetracked.  Now I wish I would've just took the intiative to follow through with those past plans.  I would've NEVER thought he'd be gone this soon... so young.

It feels like just yesterday when we were all in high school rockin' talent shows.  I was with my b-boy crew doing a set... and he was with his rap squad at the time, Maynestream.... rockin' matching black-and-red jumpsuits spittin' to the instrumentals of "Deja Vu" by Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz and "Just Another Case" by CRU, lol.  Those were the days!

I still got the joint we collabed on in 2002 talking about back in the day called "I Remember".  Damn... I even remember when we were working that ol' grave-yard shift at Virgin Mobile till 8:00am in the morning talking about music and our goals.

I'm just shocked.... and hurt....... and though we weren't super-close, we always respected each other and definitely got plenty of memories.

I just wanna say that your family will be in my prayers (Ray... keep your head up man).   Thanks for the times you looked out for me.  Rest in Peace brotha.

A lot of ya'll bared witness to my soundclick page getting "shut down" (in a sense) a few weeks ago.  Apparently... after 4 years of being on there with over 4 million plays without any problems, they have an issue with people using samples all of a sudden.

Why was I picked on for it, while there's over hundreds of thousands pages STILL on there using samples???  Well... it basically boiled down to the fact that some anonymous person had the nerve to use my name as an example when THEIR page was placed "under review" for using samples.  Instead of just dealing with it his/herself... he/she went straight into a "why can't I use samples... when Boonie Mayfield has a page with tons of samples?" speech.   Therefore, to be "fair" in their eyes... they had to shut me down too.  So, to those still using soundclick... my warning is to just BE CAREFUL.

SO....  my beats will be on display at the link above from now on!  The number to call for purchases is still the same (720) 244-8221.  Mind you... I had to sit and download almost ALL of the 200 beats that I had on soundclick and reupload them elsewhere (took a lot of time, lol).  So, SOME of the beats that are up have already been sold.  It's just a matter of calling me or messaging me to see if the one's you're interested in are still available.  ALSO... I erased all my beats that had samples from the soundclick page... So... it should be reinstated again soon.  Occassionally, I'll post up new sample-free beats on soundclick just to get some chart ratings and generate traffic again... but the new Boon Doc Beats page above is where EVERYTHING will be.

THANK YA'LL SO MUCH FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING!  Peace & God bless!!!

First of all... I just want to say thanks to all of you who were looking out for me after coming across yet another beat-jacker by the name of Boogz Beats (or something) here on myspace.  This past few days I've recieved TONS of e-mails from people exposing this dude.  Evidently, he had nerve to sit there and send add-requests to everybody in my friends list LOL!!!

Somebody hit me up about him over a month ago actually.  I confronted him back then, and dude had some LAME excuse, making it seem as if it was some "uploading malfunction"... like he didn't purposely upload my beats because "he does all his own production".. *rolls eyes*.  That's a damn lie... because there is no possible way that he would've had my "Funk In Space" beat unless he simply recorded the audio while it was streaming... So how would he make a mistake of uploading something that he couldn't even download????  I don't have that beat available for download anywhere!  Anyways, I told him to make sure to take it off before I'd report him.  He said he was going to handle immediately....

Welp... month or so later, I forgot all about him until these past few days when I got the heads up about him again.  Obviously, he didn't take action like he said he was going to.  I was going to confront him yet again... but once I went to his page today.. his media player didn't have ANY beats up anymore LOL!!  I guess he must've been getting a lot of strong messages from the people who knew he was a fraud.

It's really sad these days how low people stoop to try and get respect and/or money.... But it is what it is.  Those who pose will get exposed.  Thanks for lookin' out ya'll!

Welp, I finally got some time to sit down and talk about it.   For those who don't know about the Red Bull-Big Tune tournaments... just hit up www.redbullbigtune.com.

First of all, I was SHOCKED to find out that Denver was going to be one of the 8 cities they were going to hit this year.  I applied immediately lol.  Though, I'm NOT necessarily a "battle" oriented producer, I figured I'd give this one a shot.  It's like once in a lifetime that any type of event like this would come to Colorado, so I couldn't pass it up.   So... there were 12 producers picked out of over 80 applicants... we battled it out last Wednesday.... and I'm now the "Denver Champion", and I'll be competing in the finals in Atlanta later this year.   It wasn't easy though... there was definitely some tough competition I had to deal with, lol.

It was a GREAT experience!  The turn-out was nice (over 700 people)... The sound system was INSANE!!!!! The day before the battle, we all had to attend an orientation to find out the rules, what time we had to be there etc.  EVERYBODY was surprisingly humble as hell!!!!  NO EGOS, WHATSOEVER!!!! I'm not exaggerating one bit either.  All the contestants were friendly and just excited to be a part of the event.   Different people from different walks of life, but we all had the same love and passion for making music.

I could go on and on about details... but I'll run up pages full.  Just know that, for the one's who couldn't make it... you truly missed out.  It was a night to be remembered... and I'm glad Denver's finally starting to get some damn luv!!!!

How on earth do I have 11 million page views, and all of a sudden 2 million plays on one of my tracks???... AGAIN... somebody's playing around with my page trying to get me banned from myspace.

Whoever it is... just stop already.  It's getting old... TOO old.  It's been over a year now.

But either way...  I don't care anymore.  I'm not gonna sit here and delete all my tracks again to try and keep it from happening.  If I get banned over something I have no control of... so be it.  Welp, we'll see what happens.

In fact... I'm just gonna go ahead and reset my Page Views count.  These "stats" don't mean shit to me anyway

I think every aspiring artists needs to read the article Jigsaw from allhiphop.com wrote about how Twitter and other social internet spots could potentially ruin your music career if not handled right.  Be careful what you say in blogs and all these other sources of public attention.

What Jig was saying is EXACTLY what I've said for YEARS about Reality TV.  If you're wondering what I honestly think about Reality TV...  the answer is, of course it can be entertaining and very attention-grabbing... BUT I WOULD NEVER... EVER... IN MY LIFE BECOME CAST OF A REALITY SHOW!!! PERIOD!!!

If you're trying to become a "star", chances are... Reality TV is a bad route.  Sure, you'll gain popularity and fame... but the one thing besides talent that makes a "star" interesting is MYSTERY.  Back in the days.. the only way we could find out about how an artist was personality-wise... was through magazine interviews, radio interviews, television appearances and interviews (rap city etc.).  We only could get a little PIECE here and there.  That's what kept us interested!!!!!  And they still remained in their "element" that we were used to seeing in the music videos, live performances etc.

NOWADAYS... with all this Reality TV shit.... we get to see EVERYTHING!!!  We get to see how crappy some of these chicks look in the morning, breath stankin' and no make-up.  We get to see how arrogant, spoiled.. and in a lot of cases.. just how CRAZY and idiotic some of these people are.  We get to see how they act when they're drunk off their asses.  WORST OF ALL... all of their WEAKNESSES get exposed!   It makes a lot of fans lose respect for them.  And if it's not respect they've lost... in a sense, they take the artists less serious.  ESPECIALLY when it's a person who's becoming popular only through the show.

NAME ONE ACT THAT STARTED ON A REALITY SHOW WHO HAS LASTED OR EVEN MADE AN IMPACT??? I'm not talking about American Idol type stuff.  Because they all get to stay in their element.  You don't see them scratching their ass on the couch playing Xbox while aruing over missing food in the refrigerator.  A lot of these Reality Show contestants/artists got the talent, but the Reality Show fucks up their value.  Where's O-Town?  Where's Da Band?  Where's Danity Kane now? Where's Day 26 now?  Where's that dude from The White Rapper Show?

We can sit here and talk about which one drinks too much, who cries the most, who has to take 1,000 takes to record one verse, who has the dirtiest socks, who just broke up with their boyfriend/girlfriend, who cheats on their boyfriend/girlfriend....

but we have no clue when their next tour is, when the next album is dropping or where they are in the charts !!!!   THAT'S A DAMN SHAME!!!!

They'll have a hard time being legends!  We've seen true-story movies about greats like The Jacksons, Ray Charles, The Temptations, Chess Records, Biggie, Billie Holiday... the list goes on....   THAT CAN NEVER happen for artists who started in Reality TV... Why?.... 'Cause we already know every damn thing about them.  We already know ol' dude had to run and get cheesecake ... and do all kinds of pointless split group marathon contests, lol.  We already know what went on behind the scenes of their first performances.   We already know how the songs were put together and who helped write them.  There's NO MYSTERY!!!

I need to stop rambling.  Bottom line.... BE CAREFUL WITH WHICH AVENUES YOU TRY TO TAKE TO GET TO FAME!  My personal opinion.... Just say NO to Reality TV if you want to be taken serious as an artist.
