I wanted to give you guys an update of 09 so far...

As you know, I'm patiently awaiting a push of the "go button" on the release of my album with Epic Records. The label has been going through some really big changes this past few months, including a new head of the label. These changes effect scheduling and often new artists releases...

As that's been coming together, I've been looking at some interesting projects to work on that won't tie me in for an extended amount of time.

For the next month I'll be shooting a film to keep me working while waiting... Of course, it's not really work.. It's a super challenging role as I get to play twin sisters !

I hope you're all having a wonderful year so far.
All my love,
Al

Hey guys and girls,
Christmas is coming and I put my lights up on my balcony last night. I sat outside and played guitar for the building next to me, but I don't think anyone heard.. apparently they were all in the mall stepping over people. I'm going to rally my sibs and friends this year and drag them out christmas caroling... they'll hate it at first, but love me after.

I'm looking forward to 09..
I can't wait to share this past year of music with you..
Enjoy the season*

Hello my friends,

It was my birthday yesterday. I’m frustrated. I’m in a situation that I cannot control – for the meantime. It won’t be forever, but it certainly feels powerless today. I have completed an album that represents me and everything I love about music. It represents why I do this. I signed with a major label to help distribute this music and it has been a longer road than ever expected. Unfortunately, this affects me in a deep way because I want to share this music so badly. The waiting is hard and wears heavy on my heart.

On a good day, I feel incredibly blessed. On a bad day, I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Autumn feels like a time of reflection. It’s been a year of learning curves but I do have a new understanding of how strong I am. I realize now, in the music business and in the business of life, so much it out of our control.

That’s where faith takes over for me.

Since so much is out of our control, I’ve looked at it as a challenge. To have your own voice is not the easiest road to take, but it’s what I choose. When reflecting back on our lives, the most important thing above anything else will be – “I did it my way” – Thanks Frank.

Love Alexz

I remember hearing this song when I was about 9, and it moved me in a really strong way. At the time, I'd never heard anything like it on the radio before. It thought it was real and beautiful without trying to be anything more than what it was. It's such a small world. In LA while working with Toby Gad, I mentioned how this song by Enigma had an impact on my music, and as luck would have it - his brother was involved with this song and a part of the group. The heart knows what it wants -- I hope to meet him and work with him next time I'm in NY.

Enjoy
Al

As you can probably see, I'm not the greatest with the bloggin' situation. I'll get better. I'm so focused on the real reasons I do this and what it's really all about that other things take precedent while days go by so fast!

I wanted to thank you all for your wonderful messages. Reading your take on the songs and how it effects you in any way, makes me feel so lucky to be able to do what I do. Make music. For you.

I'll keep you posted--

Ex's & Oh's

The way I see it, he said
You just cant win it...
Everybody's in it for their own gain
You can't please em all
There's always somebody calling you down
I do my best
And I do good business
There's a lot of people asking for my time
They're trying to get ahead
They're trying to be a good friend of mine

I was a free man in paris
I felt unfettered and alive
There was nobody calling me up for favors
And no ones future to decide
You know I'd go back there tomorrow
But for the work I've taken on
Stoking the star maker machinery
Behind the popular song

I deal in dreamers
And telephone screamers
Lately I wonder what I do it for
If l had my way
I'd just walk through those doors
And wander
Down the champs elysees
Going cafe to cabaret
Thinking how I'll feel when I find
That very good friend of mine

I was a free man in paris
I felt unfettered and alive
Nobody was calling me up for favors
No ones future to decide
You know I'd go back there tomorrow
But for the work I've taken on
Stoking the star maker machinery
Behind the popular song
