I came across the most touching thing I've seen in a long time and I had to tell you about it. I know you have been generous with donations in the past so I thought you'd like to know about this. An 11-year-old cancer patient has started a fundraiser to help other children with cancer. He's doing it through scrapbooking!

When he first started treatment, his aunt gave him a scrapbooking kit and he was able to document his journey. This really helped him cope with the stress and now he wants other children to be able to do the same. He decided he'd like to put together scrapbooking kits to send out to all the kids in the area with cancer. However, the local businesses in Canada (where he lives) have been reluctant to help. He's only raised about $250 total! I decided I would use my powers for good and let you know about it.

I thought you might be interested in donating some of your unwanted products to this little guy to help him out, post it on your blogs or simply let your friends know about it. It seems so noble, and the fact that this kid is trying to share the hobby with others only makes it better. He is affiliated with Kids with Cancer Society and is able to provide a tax receipt for write-offs.

I will be sharing this in the upcoming business newsletter but I wanted to post it here too. I have a feeling it will inspire you just as much as it has me. Anyway, I hope you are able to help him with his project. Here's the website where you can get more information and read his story. http://www.freewebs.com/scrapingwithcancer/.

Scrapbooking.com Magazine is looking for submissions from kids and teens. We would like to start a new section in the magazine but need your help. We want layouts and the stories that accompany them, created and written by clever young adults. If the pages are published, they will be credited to the youth and will remain in the archives indefinitely. The kids can use this acknowledgment on resumes and college applications - they would be, after all, published artists and writers. Pretty impressive stuff for potential employers and admissions committees! I'm sure a lot of you have creative children, teach in schools or know talented teens in your community. Please pass on this information to anyone who might be interested. All aspiring young artists can contact us for more details at publisher@a-z.com.

Scrapbooking.com Magazine recently formed charitable relationships with the Alzheimer's Association and the Autism Society of America. We feel that these two groups best represent a population that medically benefits from scrapbooking. Many families of patients with Alzheimers use scrapbooks to help their loved ones remember special moments, other family members and their own personal history. Autistic children often learn their daily activities through pictures and scrapbooks. Parents and teachers use these visual cues to explain changes in routine and the emotions of others.

To promote these organizations and to raise awareness, Scrapbooking.com Magazine would like publish your stories. If you, or someone you know has experienced how scrapbooking has improved the life of individuals with these diagnoses, please write to us. We are looking for heart warming stories, layouts and albums pertaining to Alzheimers or Autism. Please contact Jami Petersen by email at jpetersen@a-z.com to share your experiences and give hope to others who are suffering.
