Hello there,

While I'm working on new material, I thought I'd post a few songs from my previous records.

Take a listen on my  good ol' myspace music player. Have a great day.

Hello,
Here's a review for the new record in L.A. City Beat magazine:

Gus Black
Today Is Not the Day to Fuck With Gus Black (Cheap Lullaby)
Gus Black's latest release is a lo-fi folksy affair with thorns. Although Black's trembling, soft vocals could easily be lullabies, the lyrics are surprisingly caustic, dealing with introspective and misanthropic issues, among other stinging, weighty subjects. Taking an approach similar to that of Jose Gonzalez, the locus of Today Is Not the Day … is a minimalistic mix of unobstructed vocals and raw guitar picking. But unlike Gonzalez, who sticks strictly to this formula in his seminal Veneer, Black allows this motif to vector out as the album progresses. Equally cottony female back-up vocals, subdued strings and muted percussion all seep in, making for a richer musical texture while maintaining the force and value of aural scarcity.

Hallo friends,
I am back from our Spring/German tour (plus Zurich).
I am finally starting to feel like a human being again. We did not have a day off in 17 days (other than 1 travel day). So if you factor in Jet lag, shows, and just a little bit of drinking... the tour was fun and exhausting to say the very least. I have posted some pictures here on the ol' myspace to give a glimpse of what went on...
I would like to say thanks to those of you that made it out to the shows... they were some of the best nights i have ever had on tour. Hope to see you again in the fall.

also, I'd like to thank HT, CB, EP for being great people and musicians... it was an absolute pleasure performing and traveling with you guys. Uwe, Boris, Robert...thanks for getting us where we needed to be... safe, sound, and on time. furthermore...thanks to merz for inspired nights of music.
Cool.
have a great day.
Speak to you soon.

Hallo,
Yes yes yes
it's good to be back in Germany again.
the shows have been going well.
the new record is back up to 5 on the german collage radio charts (debuted at 3).
saw my video for "Little Prince Town" playing in a Mc Donald's yesterday...(fucking surreal to say the least)
there is an article about me in the May issue of rolling stone (germany... that's a first for me) . the press in general has been very supportive of "Today is not the day..."
Basically things are going well are having a great time.
The band (constance baker, ht heartache, and erik penny) are great people to travel with.
We are heading to Munich today. We will be record a few songs backstage before our show tonight for the online version of the music magazine musikexpress.

ok....
running out of internet time...
if you have a chance to make it out to any of the remaining shows, that would be very cool indeed.
cheers
